I found 4 to be the scariest too as an adult replaying all of the games. I was least impressed with 3 even though I still think it’s great.
4 had too many stupid monsters to be considered terrifying, like the dumbass monkeys, burping nurses, janky wall escalator demons, etc. The unkillable ghosts were a good addition, though.
i both agree and disagree with you. some of those monsters were absolute ass, idgaf if walter massacred a petshop or not they are dumb af. not to mention the stock sound effects ugh. but i mean the twin victims were pretty awesome. and yeah the ghosts caught me so offguard the first time i played when it came out i had to pause and stand up. they really honed in on the horror aspect though.
For me, I think 1 is the most fun to play, and the one that I'd be most eager to replay at any given moment, 2 has the best story, 3 is the scariest the mirror room made me fricking shit myself don't make fun of me and 4 is the most stressful/dread inducing, which isn't quite the same as being scary but they're related
stressful/dread inducing is well said. tbh i only beat 1 once, after playing 2 and 3. i should give it another go. i was playing it on original hardware but i bet emulators could make gameplay smoother.

oh yeah i didnt answer the second question. well the demo that just came out maybe has neat monster design but the SJW + delicate flower aspect of it is pretty awful. that southpark where they go through the racist name calling tunnel is just too on the nose for me to take seriously. i think i still have some hope for silent hill F. and god damnit i hate that im going to end up buying the sh2 remake but i fricking hate bloober and im sure theyre going to frick it up bad. frick that team.
>The first time you enter the round cells and there's no music and sound and you enter the next screen to see these two just staring and pointing at you out of nowhere.
One of the scariest moments of the series.

3 is just so fun to click on everything with Heather snark and experience the horrors of being a woman. Shattered memories on Wii is a weird emersive experience that has a slow burn horror to it that captures the feeling of urban exploration. 1 is an extremely esoteric game. 2 is thematically the strongest game but lacks the esoteric nature of 1, 3 and 4.

Don't care.
Yeah, monsters were really bland, but I liked how it still had puzzles, fixed cameras in some places like old SH games and the hidden quests in SH town is such a great idea.
Well, there's your problem right there. How would you self identify with a teenage girl and things a girl her age goes through when you're not an actual woman yourself?
I'd wanna see one centered around addiction. That's one of the only mental illnesses I haven't seen them explore, and it's a pretty fricked up thing to have if you've ever had it
I'm a sucker for SH2. There's a reason it's considered one of the best games of all time. Thought I admit it's also the worst thing that ever happened to the series, just because it set the bar so high that it seems they'll never be able to top it.
As for the new games, who really cares. None of the games released post 4 have been good outside of Shattered Memories. And it doesn't look like that's going to change.
Unless you're larping as a schizo who cannot overcome their past there's no good reason to purchase a used video game which has been entirely dumped online
Yes there is:
Legal ownership, and chance to play the game natively.
Sure, I wish more normies would embrace the downloading of digital goods (again), but there's absolutely benefits for O-W-N-I-N-G stuff.
Paying hundreds of bucks for a single game? That's where I draw the line.

Arguable. Especially in the EU, purchasing a media product gives you a literal ownership of that specific copy, and a right to not only resell said copy, but also make backup copies for yourself. You instantly get a much higher level legal protection by showcasing a legal copy.

I only care for 1-3. 4 might be a fine game but it's not Silent Hill. SH2 was my favorite because of some parallels in the story to my own life, but I have a deep love for SH and SH3.
I only played 1 for the first time as an adult. I'd heard people complain about the controls feeling sluggish but I actually really liked how Harry's movement handled. It felt like he had to build up momentum when he started running.
Also felt big brained when I figured out the piano puzzle on my own after seeing so many people complain about it

F is the only thing I have hope for. that phone thing wound up being a shitshow, the 2 remake is going to suck dick if that free sh game that got dropped is any indication, so my hope is on the game with little to no info yet.

You’re the only one that consistently shows up in these threads. Is 4 your favorite game?
tbh its impressive.
1 is OG, 2 is the deepest, 3 is the most fun, 4 is scariest.

I love puzzles and I love horror
I wish puzzle horror was a game genre
Have you tried drowned god? Forget the zoomer memes it’s actually a great puzzle game.
You mean pic related? I've never heard of it before
Yup there it is. If you’re into puzzles and creepy/esoteric stuff then that’s your game.
It doesn't really look like horror but ok, I'll give it a try. Does it even run on modern PC?
Wait until you find out the history behind the game…haha…….
>Favorite game?
3, I guess.
>What do you think of the latest games announced?
Words cannot accurately express how little I care.
First game is so fricking weird man
Yeah that's what I liked about it.
>Favorite
2, but i think 1 is the best horror wise
>What do you think of the latest games announced?
i don't really care
Silent Hill has potential to be the best, but 2 has a better overall quality.
3 > shattered memories > 1 > 2 > 4

Downpour is really underrated.
the sidequests were actually nice, but the main game and monster designs were bleh. also why do we need the same plot twist for 4 games in a row?

favorites:
-Silent Hill 2
-Silent Hill: Shattered Memories
only Silent Hill f seems promising. Silent Hill : Short Message wouldn't be so bad if it was more subtle.

Still 1 after all this time. The other TS entries aren't far behind.

Stopped caring long ago, just like Konami's understanding of the franchise.

I'm trans so I expected to like 3 more, but it isn't that good.

Well, there's your problem right there. How would you self identify with a teenage girl and things a girl her age goes through when you're not an actual woman yourself?

I am though?
And the story is fine, the gameplay/levels are worse.

>social media addicts are also obsessed with trans freaks

Who's more autistic, Eileen shaving anon or gun sword from Lost Planet 2 anon?
Why is a copy of silent hill 2 over 100 dollars now
Hoarders and opportunists,
result of limited supply and increasing demand.
Just grab the guide and link from
and put a stop on that homosexualry.
Because only mentally ill people buy games instead of downloading them
That's a huge exaggerated generalization, seeing how physical media was the only way to play vidya for several decades.
