The Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer did not impress the head of Bloober Team. "It doesn't reflect the spirit of the game"
Piotr Babieno - president of the Bloober Team studio - admitted in an interview that he understands the criticism that fell on the Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer presented during State of Play. In his opinion, the material prepared by the publisher "does not reflect the spirit of the game."
Let us remind you that the trailer with gameplay elements was criticized mainly for its unattractive visuals and the general feeling of stiffness and "wooden" . Judging by the statistics and comments on YouTube, the reception is rather mixed.

Bloober has always been shit at the gameplay side of things but they do tell mature and well written stories. If silent hill 2 had great gameplay but a shit story they were tasked with rewriting, this might turn out good. However, this is a game with a fantastic story but shit gameplay, so what are they expected to do exactly?
And even so, making the combat too good creates a problem like SH5 where they justify the combat being better because the MC is a ex-army guy but in the end he was not a ex-army guy and was just a schizo so the gameplay is just a excuse to make Silent Hill feel like a shitty Zelda combat clone.
There'd be more focus on the combat looking goofy than being good. Like how the frick does a grapple qte work against something that doesn't have arms?
Why does it look like a dude wearing a trashbag now? The original design was way scarier, like a guy molten into rubbery skin contorting in ways no human can.

You know, I almost liked short message, the art direction was solid and the premise about social-isolation in the social media age was good. The writing even improved toward the end. But that last chase sequence is genuinely one of the worst things I've played in recent memory.

I did not much care for any of the chase sequences but to play devil's advocate:
- the game gave you hints where the items are via the smartphone
- the monster only teleports when you're running through a door that literally says "DON'T RUN" and if you're running it teleports to you
the WORST part about that maze shit is if you accidentally run into the final "door" before its unlocked, there is a good chance you're just dead; it needed to have a roundabout or something so you could exit that area fast, but instead its just a tiny hall and you have to double back, meaning if its close to you you're just basically dead
I dunno, I would have liked it more if it didn't have the AIDS chase sequences, felt really boring after a while but like, how else would one add conflict with weird monsters in that kind of game at all

Yeah it was clear Konami greenlit this because they saw the REmakes and wanted a piece of that audience. What they forget is that people love those because they're true to the atmosphere of the originals while elavating the gameplay to modern standards.
It's a bad look when the first trailer for a remake of your beloved, atmospheric horror game looks like someone cut RE4 (the PS2 version) gameplay cut to some random stock superhero music.

It's explained pretty clearly, Konami acts as the publisher and is entirely in control of the marketing, Bloober didn't make the trailer. Konami obviously has full access to their work, they just used whatever material they wanted and made the trailer. Konami being Konami it wouldn't be out of character for them to not even share the trailer with the studio beforehand. Konami's incompetence is legendary at this point.
