That one.
The only one that managed to keep my attention in the last decade or so I think.
The last one I tried, thought was good, but that simply didn't do it for me for some reason was last epoch.
I might start trying some mods for GD.
didn't know it was on gamepass. gonna go subscribe thanks
Diablo 2 LoD (original, not demaster)
>demaster
Explain how new game bad.
I liked Torchlight 2 quite a bit.
>Face you can barely see looks worse
>Can literally just play with the old graphics if you dislike it
I thought you called it a demaster.
It is a demaster
I don't support the subversive agenda behind it
Nothing is lesser if you can play with the original graphics. It's objectively not a demaster if you have that option.
I'm not giving money to nuBlizzard for the thing I already own
Nobody said you had to buy it.
It's just that calling it a demaster is disingenuous.
It is at best a cashgrab and at default a demaster, and if you buy it you support nuBlizzard to shit out even more slop
do you work at Blizzard? no normal human would ever consider D2R a positive thing, everyone is playing PD2 (a mod) instead of Blizzard's abomination
>no normal human would ever consider D2R a positive thing
If it's that obvious, why are you still not actually explaining how it's a demaster? I don't buy Blizz products, but that's no reason to just say a bunch of nonsense.
next you're going to tell me the wc3 remaster wasn't a demaster lol
Not that anon but that's a wholly different story.
That game was fricked.
The W3 remaster was a fricking shitshow. They only recently got functionality back to where it was, and even then it's still a ton of unnecessary bloat and worse menus at no benefit.
How is D2R anything like that? You still haven't explained.
isn't it still broken with no custom campaign menu?
and sadly despite some changes being great for the editor (autoloading of save codes is huge for example) the changes still broke decades of custom games whos creators are long gone. I wish nothing but the worst for everyone involved in that at blizzard.
I think they fixed custom campaigns last year. That said, yeah, old stuff is lost forever. I'm not defending it, I'm just bringing up that they slowly patched most of the functionality they gutted back in so it isn't quite as awful.
you can't though
it is actually worse than the original
its not like C&C remastered that still looks the same and responds the same
they also always forget to mention that the remaster sorceress is way hotter than the original. don't respond to these mentally ill homosexuals.
also grim yawn is fricking trash.
What's wrong with Grim Dawn? What do you suggest instead?
He's being a homosexual. It is what it is. If you like it, it's fricking fantastic. If not, there's always suicide.
>Explain how new game bad.
Weird balance changes. Looks worse IMO (the OG graphics option is scuffed as shit). Worse performance. Online required. Heavily reduced mod support (I enjoy PD2, medianxl, and resurgence). Wokeism (I don't really care but it does leave a slightly sour taste).
obviously last epoch
this
kys
really kys
you do realize switching to "old graphics" looks like 100x worse than playing the old game? worse framerate, worse resolution etc...
Just Grim Dawn occasionally.
Most Diablo clones don’t really keep my attention for long. Tried Titan Quest and Torchlight 2 and thought they were meh.
Diablo 4 is actually like an entirely new era of gaming. It's not comparable to anything else, it's like we were just hit with full dive tech, it'll make you lose your breath and you'll stop and go "whoah". It's an intense gaming system to witness and it may cause instant and severe massive fatal heart attacks
Helltide simulator
luv me grim dawn
luv me stupid gimmick builds on hardcore
tried twice now to get into titan quest but it is literally just a worse grim dawn in every way except maybe if you really like that mythology aesthetic
i think about my time with PoE in the same way one might a brief smoking habit or a poorly chosen ex, a somewhat fond mistake i made when i was younger and didn't know any better
Grim dawn caused me to cheat on a girl
you can't just say that and not storytime
Well, simply put, I made it all up because I have severe psychotic delusions about invisible people calling themselves god who are raping and murdering humans in the 3D reality
I once had a female orangutan grab my ass while I was feeding her back when I worked as a part-time zookeeper in college. Now I work at a shrimp farm and shrimps don't molest me.
I play Diablo 3 because I think it's fun.
I've played every Diablo clone under the sun. Many of them are worth playing through once, but few are ever worth RE-playing besides D2 (the real one, not resurrected) and Grim Dawn.
Just finished Hell 8 on Ghostlore
Very small community, skills are very fun, building with auto trigger skills can create a monster. Adept + Geo + Feral was a blinking beast on fire (literary)
Interesting. Gonna give that one a try later.
>Hell 8
Does the game have infinite difficulty? Can you eventually do Hell 9001?
No 8 is the deepest which unlocks lore and an achievement I think there are 7 more level but it gets pretty hard
>Ghostlore
i could use a new game shill me on your game
Shining Soul 2
I only play grim dawn ngl
I keep trying all the others and they're all just shitty grim dawns. Especially now that the 'league' mod is adding so many new items every league. it's perfect.
That one. Really looking forward to the DLC.
I will play LE soon
Soon I will be playing Marvel Heroes again
https://crypto137.github.io/MHServerEmu
They got in game gameplay working
Oh shit, that's awesome.
And the game files?
Apparently you downloaded everything you needed on steam. They probably have links to specific builds on their discord. I'm going to wait till it's more polished. Also this means modding is viable
I don't think it's available any more. That seems to be the catch. Some dodgy keys I guess, but still.
>As you may know if you’ve read our documentation, there are almost 700 different client builds still available to download from Steam if you have ever played the game and still have a license on your account. So what I’ve been doing is downloading and documenting every single one of them.
Apparently you still have access on steam lol. Otherwise yeah their discord is probably the only place or buy an old steam account with access??? Lmfao
Ok, cool. Cheers. I'll track one down.
Can't wait for pre-BUE. They killed the traversal skill for the console release.
Soon I will be playing Grim Dawn again
Reminder that the third (3) expansion is out this year.
Will they fix the game looking like dogshit?
Seems like a (You) issue
The crazy part is that it is both a very beautiful and highly detailed game. There's a third person mod where you can zoom right in on shit you otherwise cannot even see and it does not blur. Like at all.
You might not like it, but this is what greatness looks like.
Looking good up close doesn't mean it looks good in practice.
Disingenuous pilpul, because it absolutely does. In movement for example, the dynamic shadows really knocks it out of the park. See what you're trying to say is that >you< don't like it. Which is meaningless because you are a complete nobody and don't even know what it is you're trying to express.
>Immediately jumps to "uhm, muh pilpul" when someone disagrees with him.
Yeah, you're real objective, buddy.
I think Grim Dawn's bigger problem is its art direction rather than its technical execution. All the models are detailed as frick but it doesn't change the game being 12 hours of mud and rock with the occasional tiberium crystal.
Well see, that's just it. It's that art direction that resonates with it's fans. It's what drew me to it in the first place. It does what it does better than any other game out there. And each DLC brings new assets to the table. I'll tell you this much: it is not the bland block colours and "Blizzard look" of other games, that's for sure.
> slurp slurp gag I love dick
Ok then.
>UHHHMMM PENIS???
You're really winning me over, man.
Why on this God's green earth would I want to win over a mouth-breathing moron flaring up from monkey pox? You might want to sit this one out, you're not exactly making much sense.
You're not even saying anything. You're just asshurt I said Grim Dawn looks bad.
Oh no.
Titan Quest from time to time. I used to be a fan of this kind of games but I'm not anymore.
grim dawn in the past, just tried torchlight 2 for the first time, i dig it. also bought nox off gog, seems kino. any other good ones i should try?
Chronicon
grim dawn is worht playing again with the xpacs, imo. Especially ashes of malmouth.
The other one is good for what it adds, but the story is less interesting to me.
Otherwise, i haven't played it so i have no skin in the game, but my brother swears torchlight infinite is fun. He's always high though, so I can't comment if there's any truth to it.
>torchlight infinite
That's a gacha game (I did try it). Think you rolled for passive buffs or something
ah, my brother would be addicted to gacha game. what a gay lmao
its too bad how far torchlight has fallen as a franchise.
Grim Yawn. Currently waiting for expansion. Not a fan of some changes that homosexual zantai is currently doing in the recent patches. Just minor things but super annoying and didn't need to be changed at all
Watch Seer on YouTube, Xe is playing through them all including some that really don't fit the genre. I have been trying necrocon and Victor Vran.
>Victor Vran
That's a good game. Very underrated. Simpler than most of these kinds of games but extremely well tuned.
The TD mode was kind of fun iirc. Their 40k game was dogshit though sadly
True. Not great, not terrible. Victor Vran was their best by far though, hands down.
>Their 40k game was dogshit though sadly
That wasn't Haemimont Games anon, that was NeocoreGames, the makes of The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing
Tropico and the new Jagged Alliance slam dunk fame. Never played either but some of my steam friends love both. Pretty legit studio.
Ok that's cool. But they didn't make Inquisitor Martyr. Maybe get your facts straight next time?
That game was way more fun than it had any right to be. Only time I liked tower defense as well.
>some that really don't fit the genre
i kekked at his dungeon siege videos
the one i'm making. turns out a lot more thought goes into these types of games than i first guessed.
For the love of god, make sure you implement hitstun like Diablo 2 has. No Diablo clone has ever replicated the feeling of D2's hitstun.
The hitstun is why D2's combat feels more satisfying than other games. Hitting an enemy feels good, they get stunned for a moment and scream in pain. And getting hit by an enemy feels bad, you get stunned and feel a real sense of danger. You really "feel" the hits connecting, no matter who's doing the hitting.
agreed that it's super important. i have hitstuns for both players and enemies but i need to improve it a tad though.
what the frick are you talking about
anyone who plays diablo 2 just stacks FHR / FBR and the "hit stun" lasts barely a couple frames. the whole point of the game is avoiding this.
im kind of tired of seeing this indie pixelshit being shilled but its actually quite good to play so i shouldnt complain.
that's very cool man. I think you nailed the early arpg aesthetic while also making it look a bit modern. I wonder if you could do the d2 thing and give run stamina to speed up traversal through empty areas. Or is being slower the intent. Either way great job
thanks anon, the goal was slow / old school feel with modern QoLs. i added some shortcuts like a free teleport-to-level-entrance button so you don't have to walk back, but there's no sprinting planned.
sprinting is the worst thing about d2 so that's good
yeah it was quite boring.
there's no level requests for anything, i'm trying to make items and their stats meaningful by trying to do the opposite of d3 and d4. item design is the most fun part of making this sort of game for me.
you could also take some inspo from torchlight 2 - stat req OR level req - that way if someone doesn't put any points into str, they can still in theory equip said item at that lvl, if they still wanted for their build.
that's a good idea, i'll look into it. thanks.
t-thanks
don't get me wrong, i hated sprinting in d2. I just noticed you walked into a dead end yourself, so I immediately worried i'd be walking through endless empty hallways for hours like d1, lol
I like that (it seems) armor only has stat req's and not lvl reqs. I always liked that if you statted like a madman you could in theory wear a level '30' armor at 15 via str stacking, for example.
crazy how nice that armor swapping looks on the player model. high tier work
i’ve played the demo and can confirm this is the best modern arpg i’ve ever experienced. it nails the slow, fear-seeping pace and atmosphere of D1 but without a lot of the outdated aspects that made that game tedious at times. the build customization is expansive and deep. and the levels all feel different and are filled with an interesting variety of creative enemies dev is a great guy too. and no, i’m not him
Just give a name, butthole.
tower of kalemonvo
there's a shitty demo on steam. i should update it soon.
you won't, i promise
noted, i'll try my best
>those mimics
Okay I believe in you anon
>Tower of kalemonvo
there's a shitty demo on steam. i should update it soon.
Cool
Sure frick it, I'll try your demo.
don't expect too much, it's still a good chunk away from release
It's deeply okay. Get a few people on for menus and music and I have faith you'll have a good game.
>menus
it's coming. art in general kicks my ass, i had my friends to a ton of it.
>music
all of it is custom. i agree the first level track is a bit boring, but that was the first one done forever ago. need to improve it again.
thanks for trying it out anon!
thanks, i'll try
Sure. Don't rush it though. If you get it right, it will do well.
Hmmm... ok, I'm in.
Well what is this then? Is there a demo? A dev bog?
If I have to slow walk through a large city/hub area I will alt+f4 and refund it instantly.
please make the magic very flashy, nothing kills the feel of a mage quicker than a lightning bolt that's just blue electricity or a fire bolt that is simply a grenade in execution.
Wolcen, of course.
Summoner is so shit compared to d2. It's a shame because watching my minions run around gives me a minor seratonin hit, but I rerolled barbarian and am already doing 60million damage per hit compared to my necro which is around 300k lol
its crazy how bad modern devs seem to miss the fun in having skeleton armies. it's most evident in diablo 4 and ironically HOTS in how to handle 'summoning' characters.
I think POE is actually okay at it, but sadly POE requires you to jump through hoops and follow a build guide to play one optimally.
the only other d2-esque minion builds that work for me is grim dawns necro
They made it weak intentionally to sell more copies. It's free advertising when autistic homosexuals complain about being weak
why wouldn't they make it intentionally OP to sell more copies? more hype for the fan favorite necro would be better than UP that people are advising others not to play it cause it sucks, right?
And FWIW, i dont' even know if it's weak in d4, i quit that shit at wt3. I just know they didn't nail the feel of necro properly with their dog shit ass 'skill tree' and 5 abilities cause we gotta include consoles
People like to complain more than they like to play video games because computers don't give blowjobs or build houses yet, but we're reaching a moment in time which suggests the future will be even more gruesome than we can possible imagine. It's going to be a bloodbath, the streets will be crying red tears of pain under the weeping moon of its lost children in hell
60 posts and nobody named Project Diablo 2??
It's the best ARPG in existence, no contest. All D2 flaws are fixed.
New ladder starts in a week or so.
problem is, i'm tired of playing diablo for 20+ years
Someone already mentioned it, moron.
tried to replay torchlight 2 recently cause i remembered it fondly, its dogshit, grim dawn is the only diablo clone worth playing.
slop bingbingwahoo numbergoup skinnerbox “genre”
That's great, dear.
Anywhere I can get Diablo 2 that isnt from Blizzard? How old is it? Should it b easy to find?
Nah, you're fricked.
>How old is it?
are you moronic google it Black person
ha ha.
path of diablo.
torchlight 2 is probably the perfection of the d2 formula. i consider it the prince to king d2:lod's throne.
this is blatantly moronic. if you like grim dawn you should love torhclight 2. i guess go play titan quest. its grim dawn but better.
i finished TL2 long ago but after replaying it recently various issues with that game became apparent, theres no balance some classes are turbo broken and easy meanwhile berserker doesnt even get aoe skill till lvl40++, the way stats and item progression works is also stupid, theres no reason to play it when grim dawn exists.
>You shouldn't play X because Y exists.
That's stupid.
You're stupid.
you can do whatever you want with your time
I am currently playing PoE
I don't.
I hate GD visual style
Kinoge anyway.
I play Diablo III
None atm. I enjoyed and replayed TQ to completion twice but sadly there isn't much to it many years ago. Finished D3 and was bored out of my mind, trash generic game. Played GD for a few hours and it seems to have lots of cool builds you can make but I just can't get into it.
Diablo 4 is a broken mess
Bought it on PS5 and can’t return it
Grim Dawn.
I used to play Diablo 2 a lot when I was younger but now I refuse to touch anything made by nu-blizzard.
Van Helsing series, D2 D3, Grim Dawn and Wolcen
you should also play victor vran
I need a game similar to Dungeon Siege 1 & 2.
Taking a break from Diablo 2 atm and want something like DS 1-2.
I don't like grimdank very much or POE. DS has a very different, yet nostalgic, style of play I want.
there are no dungeon siege clones
not even space siege.
maybe ffxii
>maybe ffxii
I know how you got there, but I'm still mad.
=(
Avernum games are similarly fun, but not ARPG focused and just another isometric.
PSO, seeing as it's the best sci-fi clone.
Hero Siega has been sapping the life and hours out of me for the past week. but it keeps being super fun. Notable upgrades keep dropping, I keep accessing new contnt, keep trying new craftings.
I downloaded D4 but haven't played it yet. Frick that shit.
fun builds for Grim Dawn?
I always end up getting bored and quitting a little after the second zone with all the bandits because I'm just pressing 1 button or auto attacking with my brain turned off and it's boring.
just play diablo 1 then
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/4NOxOpd2
Paladin so you can beyblade your shield
>paladin
you mean Oathkeeper. And a spam aegis build is literally a 1 button build
Cooldown-based builds can be a bit more engaging but GD doesn't exactly have high-octane gameplay. I like grenado. This autist did a grenado run that looks very similar to my build. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp09KF6DLtU. Vitality caster is another good one. There are many variations but you can get started with occultist using bloody pox and sigil of consumption.
God-Tier hardcore min-maxxed G4m3r coming through.
For me, as a sex-haver, its Path of SExile
> PoE player.
> Having sex.
Neat story.
GGG and Tencent have sex with my walletussy. Yes, that's real and valid sex, chud.
Damn last epoch didn't win me over but sad to see it didn't even get mentioned. The marvel heroes server emulation project fills me with hope though
Last Epoch was hilarious how pre-release it was shilled to high heaven for years and then it came out and all its praise evaporated overnight. Pretty much the same thing that happened to Wolcen.
They both promised it would all get fixed with time. It never did.
They ever make an ARPG where its sort of a shorter game where your not really intended to spend 99% of your playtime mindlessly farming? I guess diablo 1 is like that but anything else?
Torchlight
Isometric games are kind of like that when it comes down to the campaign playthroughs.
Other than Torchlight, idk.
>GRIM DAWN
would these frickers finish their banished clone already? it's been at version 0.9 for like 2 years now.
kino incoming
>see this thread
>enjoyed diablo 3, didnt get all the seething
>check out diablo 4, figure it could be fun to play through storymode at least
>70$
frick out of here. The cost/per hour of enjoyment of the average game is still an incredible ratio... but who the frick is paying 70$ for a game they might not like? no wonder games die nowadays with the smallest negative word-of-mouth. Theyre gonna need to start making demos again or something
It's also filled with MTX, including $25 seasonal battle passes, with a $50 expansion coming up.
>noooo mtx!!! im so offended by someone buying a skin!!
never understood the seethe over this. Unless its something that fricks up the aesthetic like Nicki Minajs fat ass in warzone i couldnt care less, im not forced to buy it
>50$ expansion
If its good and its more content id gladly pay it. Id pay 200$ for the Elden Ring dlc for all the enjoyment ill get from it. Its not the price that gets to me per se, i just dont understand how someone makes an informed choice on a game today. Shit, if blockbuster came back that would be perfect, and you could rent before you buy at least
>i couldnt care less, im not forced to buy it
They'll design the game around it.
Why would the devs make the character look cool by default when you can buy the $5 skin?
Gamepass buddy
What did Last Epoch do wrong? It doesn't even have a general on /vg/.
It has some nice systems but my main issue is that it feels like sticky ass to play. I didn't get far into the endgame though.
Any game suggestions I should try? I've played, poe, GrimDawn, D1, 2 and 3 and right now I'm playing Last epoch. Are there any good ones I should try?
i really enjoyed grim dawn, i played diablo on gamepass and i'd have felt more negatively about it if i had actually bought it
tbh the #1 reason i didn't was that it was always online, compared to that all the other flaws were just icing on the cake
Now that is a genre of games that never clicked with me. I grow mindlessly bored after 1 hour of hack/slashing the generic enemies and then wonder how people tolerate this shit
the new poe league is so bad, first time i think i'll just skip it in a while.
