GARO event has some good weapons but a lot of the armor is too garish/obviously tokusatsu. Makai Fists is an old stand-by and I'm excited for the graphics update to beef up the PLD sword.

I'm at the final step already, but it can go pretty quick if you just put on some music and get it over with.
Just make sure you calculate how many collectibles you gotta make beforehand and not over-craft or over-gather.

Stealing shit from XI is a good thing for XIV, dunno why people are complaining. Not like it's going to retroactively harm XI or anything.

We've been complaining that they've only been stealing enemy models and plot points when there are SO many more things they could use, finally they came around to it and are doing something more involved. I'd do anything to get some gearsets from XI in the game.
What gearsets would you like to see? Figuring that they're anything but generic stuff, more signature, recognizable gear from XI and NPC wear like Prishe's outfit probably.
Nostalgia and references sell unfortunately, and XIV may as well be canonically a gigantic collage of other FF games at this point and has been for years. You should've figured this when the Crystal Tower literally copypastes the backstory of FF3 altogether into a new context.
NPC outfits are a no brainer but maybe not doable, even outside of this situation I've always been in favor of sticking FFXI stuff on the cash shop if that's the only way to get it in.
AF would be great, pretty much anything from aht urghan, early items like the haub set or even the full osode set. They also have so many newer pieces from adoulin and whatnot that are fricking crazy and would be great in XIV.

XIV already stole shit from XI since the start. Much of its monsters and bosses draw directly from assets and designs there, the main races are dumbed down humanized versions of XI's, the gameplay in 1.0 was basically XI if outsourced inexperienced developers awkwardly recreating it. XIV was effectively supposed to be XI 2.0 until that crashed and burned, and you can still find the DNA of it being used to this day.
I'm complaining because this game relies too much on other games. I don't care about it "harming" XI, I just think relying on references and homages is cheap and lazy.
Out of all the games they've relied on thus far FFXI is the one game they've given nothing back to despite how much it utilizes from said game. The most they've given back were 4 items in Eureka and a couple enemy models that were used completely out of context.
The ones who were b***hing the hardest were XIVonlies who think XI is an irrelevant boomer game. I myself hope I can get the sexy PLD artifact in XIV so I can truly play as the same frickin dude I played in XI.

It's a good mix of Mandervillian stupidity with the typical jump puzzle platforming they throw in every once in a while. Whoever hates it definitely never fricks around in the Golden Saucer or generally hates the Manderville questline.
If they stick to FG standard, it's also competitive. Most of the standard minigames at the saucer down on the show floor are so hands-off between player interactions but Fall Guys encourages you to be a bastard to be the last player standing.
There can't seriously be anyone out there who wants any of the yokai watch stuff. It's clearly all designed for small children, when will your WoL EVER need that? Collecting just to have something is an illness.

I don't know any tldr versions but there are full length every cutscene all dialogue "movies" of the entire game including all expansions. I think a single expansion is around 8 hours along, at least.
I don't know, there's kind of a lot going on in XI's story and a lot of intersecting subplots to get the whole picture. It would be a pretty big task to make a video of all of it. But I know there are a few of us XIgays in these threads who would be happy to explain shit.

The morons over at the FF wiki are trying to push "Warmage" as a job, but that was literally never a thing. The lineage is clear cut:
FF3's Mystic Knight (uses special katanas) split into both Spell Fencer (sword magic) and Dark Knight (dark arts). There is no difference between Dark Knight and whatever they think "Warmage" is, a term that is literally never used in any Final Fantasy. Dark Knight has gone on to inform Dark Knight (tank) and Reaper (FFXI's DPS-oriented scythe-wielding Dark Knight). A mage that tanks, especially a dark mage, has never existed in Final Fantasy.
Mystic Knight in FF5 is as close as they ever came to a magic tank that's not Knight/Paladin
A warlock/mage tank in the vein of Golbez, Goldor or Exdeath would be really cool

It's hard to know because while XI does have some things you could easily adapt into the XIV setting it also has a LOT of things that would require a lot of work to fit in or simply can't be done, that or they are already utilized in another way like link related.

It's more of a thing that was important to the past rather than the present in XI, you'd not find any real encounters or anything tied to it so it's useless as a location.
I don't think it will be the site of the raid instances, I think it'll be some lost city in the New World, the discovery of which sends us off on the whole quest. It's pretty central to the vanilla > RotZ > CoP story arc.
I don't think you could do a FFXI crossover story and set it in the new world that easily unless all the bosses are just random mobs like Fafnir, which would be boring.
You just do it exactly like the Ivalice raids did, ancient civilization that went through some stuff that heavily resembles the other game.
That's another problem, XI isn't a singular straight line story you can pick up and work with, half of it's expansion storylines are completely unrelated to eachother. You could maybe go through the base game/zilart/CoP and call it a day but you'd just be showing people that the Ancients were just taken from XI to begin with.
Or maybe that's the hook, maybe it was all ascians and ancients.
You can definitely do vanilla/RotZ/CoP as a single straight story and it still bothers the frick out of me that CoP starts itself early the moment you enter Delkfutt's for the first time. WotG and ToAU are also heavily related to that story arc too, and of course the nation storylines. Everything intersects, you just need to decide what the focus is and think about what's important to tie in.

Objectively correct advice in 9/10 scenarios. Going to trap ice leaves you vulnerable to both teams, not even accounting for the fact that big ice is the least efficient means of obtaining points. You lose 5 points for every death and give your enemy 10 points on top of that. If 5 people die, you just gave your enemy a free small ice. If 10 people die, you cost your team a small ice and gave your enemy two free small ice while increasing their battle high (making them more efficient at killing you and killing ice). If your team isn't hyper-aggressive and relatively competent, going to trap ice is going to cost you more points than you gain all the while strengthening your opponents.

Which is (mostly) why you lost. Killing other players and hitting small ice are much more efficient means of getting points. On small ice every 8000 damage you deal is worth 1 point. On big ice you have to deal twice as much damage (16000 damage) to be worth that same 1 point. The only big ice worth it is the one to the left of your spawn, and even then you should prioritize killing anyone coming in because that's just the icing on top. Sometime RNG fricks you, that's true of all the modes though. You mitigate that by using better strategies and being more aggressive, as evidenced by the fact that competent commanders and/or premades have win rates in the 60-70% range over 50+ games compared to the typical 30-40% of random players.
It's a garbage game mode regardless. Somehow they managed to make old Shatter even worse. The map design is interesting enough, but the actual gameplay is boring and pointlessly obtuse.
Actually had a commander that people listened to today. Can be pretty fun once you have battle high and drk/drg entire alliances to death instead of slapping ice for 15 minutes. New Shatter is so fricking awful. Amazing that they thought that this was an improvement.

They keep making circlets because they have two races that can't properly wear headgear and that's 100% on them.

Installing a new SSD is like plugging a USB except you do it inside your motherboard and screw it in place, no wires or anything you can frick up.

Im just saying, every melee job is essentially the same mechanically. And visually it doesnt matter either since you cant see any of your effects in battle when you are under the bosses ass - its pretty dull
Atleast the casters are all unique and have some semblence of identity in their gameplay (They also generally require more skill and fight knowledge to perform well than melee do, so).
