I don't get it. Did they grill every individual competitor to see if they owned PLA and didn't have friends to trade with? There had to have been some kind of in-game indicator that showed they were hacked in, no?
It's far dumber: To get those PLA into SV you need to transferthem through Home. Every Pokémon going through Home gets some data added to it ( a HOME tracker). if a PLA exclusive doesn't have this tracker it's obviously hacked.
Not only DQ'd players couldn't be bothered to properly trained and breed their mons, they couldn't figure how to properly gen them in order to pass these standards checks. Even Wolfey figured that out.They got what they deserved
So it wasn't a case of GF getting better at catching cheaters, it was people literally making similar mistakes to the ones people made when PokeGen first started getting popular nearly 20 years ago?
Not to mention the fact you can make a Pokemon competitive-ready by legit means so fast nowadays, it's really not that huge of an extra investment if you were autistic enough to spend hours planning strats for VGC anyway.
It's not just having a Home Tracker, it's also knowing not to change immutable values. Once a Pokemon has a Home Tracker, that's it, you can't give it a 0 Speed IV, or change the OT name, or change the caught Ball, etc.
Most likely explanation right now is that people genned things directly into SV without the proper home identification tags.
