The games are badly designed jankfests. If your system needs to rely in making the player invincible when pressing a button to avoid getting damaged then maybe there is something wrong with the premise of your game. Not to mention the slow, highly telegraphed attacks, it's all dumb looking.
This would be a lot less problematic if it weren't for the fans of the series praising this as the second coming of Christ. Certainly, pretty much everyone else making these kinds of action games (they're not RPGs) is doing it worse, but that only says that the industry is in a miserable state, not that From Software is making good games.

I actually like Demon's Souls and will admit those gimmicks are cool, but if we're being totally honest DeS is bog standard FromSoftware tropes in a different format and not Miyazakis unique brainchild.
It had totally new multiplayer, combat, death mechanics etc from anything before it so what more do you want
My point is Miyazaki was only responsible for a portion of what made Demon's Souls special, as the rest was borrowed from legacy FS titles.
It's not a slight against Demon's Souls but against people that think Miyazaki is some kind of genius.
Please defend the lack of poise in DeS, for me it's literally the only thing holding it back against DS1.
