Why do people hate him so much? I mean, SF6 suddenly being good as soon as he fricks off is a little sus, but I can't believe he was all that bad.
Because its easiest to lay blame at one persons feet instead of acknowledging complicated situations involving dozens, if not hundreds of people affected by a specific timeframe and environment.
Same thing with success.
he was to blame for SFxT and SF5 though, doesn't make his good decisions bad though like SF4
That's what I think too, I see people all the time discrediting him for SF4's success, but in the end of the day, it was him who wanted to make SF4, and it was his efforts as well that made it good.
He was the producer and head of the fighting game division during the SFxT and SFV fiasco. A captain has to take the blame when the output of the people working under his command are fricking everything up consistently.
Because he's the reason Marvel vs Capcom died.
>Street 4
Fluke. 3 was nearly 15 years ago. Lightning in a bottle
>Street 5
Mess.
>Street vs Juggle
Mess. DLC shenanigans as well
>Marvel 3
Not MvC2, but decent enough
>Marvel 4
Mess
Marvel 4 wasn't his fault, it was Disney not allowing Capcom to do a lot off things with the Marvel characters.
The disney thing is also largely the reason why I think MVC is never coming back - and even if it did, it'd just be an MVCi tier shitstorm again.
They should just partner with someone else.
The world is ready for Jump vs. Capcom. It would do gangbusters. More than gangbusters. It would shit solid gold. I'm honestly shocked it hasnt happened yet, I guess the licensing would be a nightmare.
I don't think the licensing would be that bad. Most of the rights for bideogames reside with Bandai or Shueisa for the time being, while Sega has a couple I believe.
And since Shueisha has started their own little dev team, they will probably hold on to most rights once the current contracts lapse.
im not weeb enough to recognize more than maybe 3-4 of the characters on the right. I only know kikumon or however it's spelled, goku, jojo and uhhh naruto
>doesnt recognize bobobo
fricking philistine
or Seiya
>shonen homosexualry
Yeah nah, anything but that crap.
I'd love to see Jotaro again in a Capcom game but no way I want the cancerous shonen Black folk to get any closer to a big name fighting game.
I'm not saying he didn't make bad decisions, but the pure hate I see from time to time, like OP, like he didn't do anything good, is weird as frick.
I thought all these games were good...even infinite I played tons online and had a great time. no shit I wish SF vs Tekken was still going. that game was fantastic and you homosexuals have to stop regurgitating all you hear. yea the dlc shit sucked but honestly I dont fricking care about that.
SFV, SFXT, Panta Rhei engine. All of those flopped or never saw the light of day. All of those helmed by Ono.
The only good thing he ever did was SF4 yet people love to see him as the messiah that revived fighting games instead of an incompetent fricker who got lucky one time.
sf4 was good though
good
I'm sorry, Ono-sama...
please, I want to go back
He got demoted to the point he was forced to leave though and now works for a no-name company.
what did he ruin? giving you ways to earn dlc characters for free? introducing cross-play when that shit was unheard of? making big updates free so you don't need to buy Super Ultra Edition that's 90% of the game you already own? you take this for granted with fighting games but it was Ono you can thank for it.
b-but the gameplay... the same guy that designes sfv gameplay designed sf6 gameplay, and drive rush objectively makes the drive system worse than the v-trigger stuff.
>making big updates free so you don't need to buy Super Ultra Edition that's 90% of the game you already own?
After making you buy sf4 multiple times and getting shit on over it.
Pretty much.
Ono only did that since sfv needed to get its reputation fixed after all the shitty business practices hurting SF's name like on disc dlc and full priced updates that make the previous version obsolete...
And even then being able to get characters for free in sfv required a lot of grinding and got even harder with time.
V-Trigger is the most anti-fun piece of shit mechanic to ever disgrace a fighting game and that alone is enough to make Street Fighter 6 a better game.
Drive rush is equally cancerous.
Drive rush isn't a shitty robbery comeback mechanic and both players can use it at any time. I'll take that any day over vtrigger.
you're right. dr is just robbery from the very start of the round.
Drive rush just needs a nerf like longer startup or being on punish counter state during the whole animation. It isn't the inoperable tumor V-trigger was.
drive rush/impact is literally the best and most engaging system ever implemented in a fighting game. no game has been this fun to play and watch as sf6.
At least parrying, canceling, and having a dedicated unga bunga button is actually fun to use. V-Trigger is fricking moronic.
>dude what if your character was only fun for 10 seconds at a time once a match if you sacrifice your ability to reversal
Your character feels like a gimped piece of shit for 90% of the match until you fill up a stupid meter. Oh boy, you've finally filled the meter, you've popped V-Trigger, wow, you're a real character with a complete set of tools, you've got cool buttons and you're doing a flashy combo and actually having fu- aaaaand the bar has run out, we're taking your toys away.
Every game ono produced was dogshit. They need to get yoshiki okamoto back.
