what the fuck
i've played all 3 games and somehow never heard of this
In Skate 3, literally.
This.
There couldn't be a more perfect example of jumping the shark than skate 3.
they did it with grace, skate 3 is a great game despite the microtransactions and mediocre dlc
skate 1 is by far the best. if it had the ability to get off your board it would be better by an even bigger margin. the rest of the games were cringe physics abuse garbage. kys tricklinefags.
this. as far as an actual skate game goes, skate 1 was obviously the most grounded, and backed by an all star cast of skate pros, and even somehow wrangled gonz in there despite his distaste for things mainstream. 2 was a good upgrade technologically speaking, but it started going the jackass route by making dirdek basically a main character, and by 3 it's as if the team new they were going to get fucked after making it so they just made it as fun and stupid as possible. sill a good skate game in its own right, but clearly made as more of a "lmao god mode" type game than an actual "you're a no name bum go make your name" type of story like the first game was.
should've been a new protag every game to help mitigate that but i can't imagine that would've helped 3's weird atmosphere much.
playing s.k.a.t.e with friends on 3 was a blast
skate 1 unironically just needed dlcs instead of sequels
every SKATE 3 clip I see is some gay breaking the game like it's thps. people completely missing the point of what the SKATE series is meant to be.
it's not the players' fault EA made the physics so generous
>people completely missing the point of what the SKATE series is meant to be.
Tell that to the devs for making Skate 3 the map a hotwheel track for skateboards. I wanted to have realistic skating and the physics to go with it, not fucking 20 yard long handrails and a city made out of megaramps. And the few real spots like the 3rd and Army copy are unskateable due to how the physics work.
Imagine Skate 3 multiplayer with modern map making and sharing tools and server browsers and shit
It's literally all I want
Isn't that exactly what they are releasing this year? (As a F2P title.)
it's EA
I already got my hands on the leak for a bit and what they had of it was a tech demo. Lots of missing textures but pretty decent physics and controls. I think it'll be alright.
This. It looks pretty much like skate 3 with improvements
I'm worried about the monetization
From what I've seen in their press releases they seem to mean that microtransactions are purely cosmetic. They might have also said something along the lines of content being unlocked through gameplay rather than through payment. There's stuff online that they've put out, it contains specifics on complaints like that
>unlocked through gameplay
ah yes, grind for 8 months to unlock the mega ramp
I don't believe for a second that the premium stuff is "purely cosmetic", AAA games have been saying that for 15 years and they're always lying
Yeah, that's probably likely with EA's track record. just trying to be a bit more generous with my judgement.
I have no optimism left with EA and, frankly, AAA games in general. The golden standard has been cutting development time/spending in half and making up for it in marketing and aggressive monetization
fair.
Just a year or 2 until skate 4
HUSTLIN' HUSTLIN' HUSTL-
HUSTLIN' HUSTLIN' HUSTL-
HUSTLIN' HUSTLIN'
>Green Onions intensifies
God I fucking love that song, got into Rick Ross because of this game.
I like Skate 1 but not the other two. Nowadays I play Skater XL (Mods). I heard the new Skate game is supposed to free to play, I'm not into it. Probably just going to stick with XL
Yeah apparently the new one is gonna be your typical EA garden gnomeshit, not that anyone's surprised but it's still a damn shame.
Exactly what is the worst case scenario, they garden gnome up cosmetics and the editor?
I actually think it won't be too bad. My issue is that I hate the free to play model. I'm a bit old school.
I'm sure they'll lock a ton of challenges and other content behind some season pass as well.
Hell, I'd be surprised if you could even free skate the entire city without paying money.
is there any way to reliably emulate skate 1?
or should i just play one of the shitty clones
PS3 emulation has gotten pretty good, I was playing skate 2 and 3 with minimal problems
Literally in the first 10m
that was in Skate 3
More like grind the shark, am I right
