a single side quest in skyrim can have a 10 page backstory, all introduced in skyrim and not present in the previous games.

            >way more factions
ok and the faction quests all involve shitty fetch quests or "go kill this guy" or "go collect the debt money"
            >way more weapon types
thats true but in a game where combat is that miserable it really doesnt matter
            >pauldrons and greaves
why is that good? so you can spend 3x on a chestplate set? who the hell is going to wear different types of pauldrons? it's arbitrary. is this really what morrowgays use to say their game is good?
            >can wear armor over normal clothes and then a robe over the armor
            true
            >endurance actually matters
yeah way too much. it makes or beaks the entire game, from movement to combat. this is a horrible feature and ive never seen someone defend it before you
            >enemy inflicted status effects actually matter
the times you actually find yourself effected by enemy status is so infrequent in morrowind that when you actually do get effected, all the potions you bought/made just in case have spoiled, so youre fricked.
            >argonians and khajiits are actually unique
            yeah theyre nerfed, that sucks
            >story has way more moving parts
yeah and its like 2 hours long
            >actual prostitutehouse you can visit with strippers

and skyrims all involve going to caves and killing draugr.
              >thats true but in a game where combat is that miserable it really doesnt matter
              Skyrim's is also shit.
              >who the hell is going to wear different types of pauldrons?
people who want to customise their character? Are you unironically saying less choice is good?

don't know where you're getting this number from.

why would I talk to a stripper?

Does it have good gameplay though

              >Does it have good gameplay though
does any elder scrolls? They're all mediocre. Skyrim is the poster boy for games that you install 100 mods for, play for 10 minutes and then drop.

Really want to get into Morrowind but the combat system and walk speed just kills it for me. Melee lacks feedback for hit / miss, I think it would change a lot despite seeming superficial on paper. I know acrobatics can be leveled but it's awful early.

Yeah but Morrowind is boring as frick. The gameplay is complete shit and if I wanted a good story I would just read a book.

      >Skyrim
      >RPG
It's an action looter shooter game without the shooting part, it's like a theme park with barebone RPG elements. Morrowind and Oblivion had a lot more RP in the G than Skyrim does, Skyrim's choices excised a lot of the RP potential. The player dialogue is one of the worst aspects of the game.

      Anonymous

The high IQ aspect is overembellishing it.

Skyrim's strength are the map being environmentally cohesive, the player's path being unrestricted, and the exploration soundtrack being beautiful especially at night. In those regards it's nearly impossible to beat.
But Skyrim is a game that tries to do so many other things as well and completely fumbles in most other areas concerning gameplay and writing. The game's primitive presentation and barely existent writing are probably the biggest problem - you cannot express who your Dragonborn is or what they're like. All the characters are so hilariously one dimensional and forgettable that developing any emotional connection to the narrative is impossible, the rare moments of charm come from one of the 6 reused voice actors deciding to throw in some sarcasm every once in a while.

It's simply too big of a game to do everything well, it stretches itself into trying to do all things as if it's an octopus but it's only got two-three strong elements (environment cohesion, music, freedom) so all the other elements (movement, combat, loot system, magic, physics, character writing, plot writing, presentation, RP potential, graphics/engine, etc) end up being extremely lackluster.

Modded Skyrim will have disastrous consequences. When TES6 comes out in a few years (or a decade, more likely), people are going to expect it to be a sequel to modded Skyrim. It won't be. It'll be a buggy unrefined sequel to vanilla Skyrim, and doubtlessly worse than modded Skyrim. So the collective seethe when TES6 comes out will be gigantic, people will be reminded of how installing good mods made by independent modders does not actually make Bethesda better at making games.
If anything, it makes Bethesda worse because they get complacent because they know modders will fix their mistakes. Kind of like how a kid knows he can take a shit on the sidewalk because their parent will always be there to clean it up, so they don't even bother doing it in the toilet.

And they still haven't finished it.
The Bethesda model; rush out a copy-pasted mess, and let the paying customer fix it.
Also, what the frick is with these captchas? It's a dyslexic person's nightmare.

    >Still riddled with terrible quests

    >Still crashing with unofficial patches
    >Still riddled with terrible community quests
    >Still terrible gameplay even with mods
    >Still terrible havok physics with mods
It only still exists because of Loverslab and because people insist on this garbage instead of playing some of the infinitely better h-games.
