you have indies funding their game via early access. they go into early access when they have nothing but 2 maps, 5 characters and 1 gun and hope that enough people support them that they can live off the money for the next 5+ years while they are working on the game.
other side of the coin is that AAA publishers are not that much different, only on a bigger scale. they announce a game today, release it in 5 years and update it with content and patches for another 2-3 years. which means that if you're the kind of person that loves to play the best version of a game all the way through once you have to wait years until you can actually play it.
in my opinion a game should be complete on release and get 1-2 patches to fix game breaking issues and a game should only ever enter early access when it's basically done but needs another year of polish. not a day more.

Supposedly Bethesda contacted the SKSE devs ahead of time about it, so probably just a few days to wait if anything.
There's a way to get around SKSE refusing to launch because of the version mismatch, but it can be really unstable supposedly. I did it for Starfield and nothing bad happened though. Can't remember what it was though lol. Some config change.
I distinctly remember thinking it was so odd that they just stopped after the solstheim expansion. They wanted to finish fallout 4 and I have no idea why. Fo4 is literally forgotten and people still play Skyrim. All I wanted was spears.

This is my second greatest fear, the community destroying themselves. I don't understand the hate. A new engine would allow the games to survive a lot longer.

I think they are forcing updates. I had my updates set to manual in steam yet when I opened it it updated Skyrim anyway. My install is ruined now, I'll have to downgrade and reinstall over 150 mods.

It's a pretty safe assumption that people still playing Skyrim 10+ years later picked up the DLC at some point in time, especially when that shit went on sale for like 10 bucks multiple, multiple times. Mod makers aren't going to actively develop for the most outdated version of the game when nobody still plays on it.

Made a bunch of not super fun or polished, but mechanically impressive and inventive mods. Actually managed to make moving platforms in Morrowind, for example. Creation Kit got an overhaul with this update and they changed how Creation Club works a bit. Basically you can publish your mods as "Creations" with the new in-game platform (a bootleg Steam Workshop) and, if you are a Verified Creator™ (anyone can apply, not just people hand-picked by Todd), you can put a price tag on them.
They also optimized the damn papyrus code more than AE already had, so there is a ton of shit that they tested here to push into Fo4.
Also Bethesda is on good terms with the guy remaking Fallout 1 into Fo4
Todd is just using Skyrim to test this new "Verified Creator" nonsense and apply it to Starfield next year.
He wants Creation [Not-]Club to be the main modding platform for his games (instead of Nexus).
Because Todd wants his own Nexus (both free and paid mods) directly inside Skyrim/Starfield/etc (so consolegays can access it too). There is no point in buying Nexus since they only have a website and a PC-only mod manager.

Unfortunately not, as of November 11, 2011 every other Elder Scrolls game was erased from history. Arena isn't worth playing and Daggerfall is a novelty at best unless you're already a giant fan of old school first person dungeon crawlers like Ultima Underworld. Just start with Morrowind if you don't want to jump into Skyrim.
The name of that armor set is Shadowscale, you can still find it in both Nexus and Workshop. The other featured armor set from that time was Gifts of Akatosh.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a lot of the conan aesthetic come from heavily stylizing bronze age weapons and armor? The conan aesthetic seems to simultaneously be grounded but still look flashy and cool. Skyrim armors achieve neither. It's totally at odds with itself and, I think more importantly, the world. The actual world of skyrim, barring certain quest locations, is pretty low fantasy and unstylized. Bethesds was going for a straightforward "gritty medieval" look. So when you throw in the overwrought glass armor into that, it just becomes a visual mess.

I really wish that wouldn't have been the case. The best thing about ES was always the alienness it could have. Even something like a generic viking setting could have been enhanced a bit.

The voice acting is the worst part. You'd think that given Bethesda's resources they could work with the official voice actors to make sure that creations would be up to snuff. you have indies funding their game via early access. they go into early access when they have nothing but 2 maps, 5 characters and 1 gun and hope that enough people support them that they can live off the money for the next 5+ years while they are working on the game.
other side of the coin is that AAA publishers are not that much different, only on a bigger scale. they announce a game today, release it in 5 years and update it with content and patches for another 2-3 years. which means that if you're the kind of person that loves to play the best version of a game all the way through once you have to wait years until you can actually play it.
in my opinion a game should be complete on release and get 1-2 patches to fix game breaking issues and a game should only ever enter early access when it's basically done but needs another year of polish. not a day more.

There's a way to get around SKSE refusing to launch because of the version mismatch, but it can be really unstable supposedly. I did it for Starfield and nothing bad happened though. Can't remember what it was though lol. Some config change.

Creation Kit got an overhaul with this update and they changed how Creation Club works a bit. Basically you can publish your mods as "Creations" with the new in-game platform (a bootleg Steam Workshop) and, if you are a Verified Creator™ (anyone can apply, not just people hand-picked by Todd), you can put a price tag on them.
They also optimized the damn papyrus code more than AE already had, so there is a ton of shit that they tested here to push into Fo4.
Also Bethesda is on good terms with the guy remaking Fallout 1 into Fo4

Unfortunately not, as of November 11, 2011 every other Elder Scrolls game was erased from history.

Its style is essentially a high(ish) fantasy version of old Conan the Barbarian looks which shows in a lot of the armors especially.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't a lot of the conan aesthetic come from heavily stylizing bronze age weapons and armor? The conan aesthetic seems to simultaneously be grounded but still look flashy and cool. Skyrim armors achieve neither. It's totally at odds with itself and, I think more importantly, the world. The actual world of skyrim, barring certain quest locations, is pretty low fantasy and unstylized. Bethesds was going for a straightforward "gritty medieval" look. So when you throw in the overwrought glass armor into that, it just becomes a visual mess.

Are the mods available on ps4 good? I used to play Skyrim on my old laptop but I could never use any of the ultra high graphics mods, so it would be nice playing it on my stronger ps4 pro if I can make the game look amazing.

Playstation is the worst platform to play with mods on because sony is schizo and doesn't allow script extended mods for whatever reason despite xbox doing it. So any real combat changing mods with new animations and the like are basically out of the question, only damage value changes and whatnot.

The voice acting is the worst part. You'd think that given Bethesda's resources they could work with the official voice actors to make sure that creations would be up to snuff. At least modders can use elevenlabs without legal concerns now, and we've had mods with decent voice acting in the past like Enderal and Inigo too.

I have been warning for years that the only reason any games that have continued support (like CSGO) or newly released games have any modding support at all is solely because they want to monetized mods/community content. If they fail to do so they will actually stop support for them entirely. Mods provide free content that is in competition to their paid DLC and new game releases. They view players creating and sharing content among each other for free as lost money.
