Unmoving Guitar Hero Chad among my friend group that played. Only one friend would play competitively against me and win from time to time. I remember getting praises at parties when people seen me playing the really hard songs. Even those custom songs on World Tour were pretty nutty.

The only thing they could do is make games with new soundtracks, that's it. Warriors of Rock did some cool things but the genre was already falling off at that point. Guitar Hero Live failed miserably.
Rhythm gamers nowadays can either take the VRpill or the tranimepill, I suggest the former.
Beat Saber and Ragnarock could help you scratch that itch.

But that's literally all they need to do, anon. One of the reasons Rock Band 3 was so incredible was that with EA backing Harmonix and the genre still being huge, they had the money and influence to get tons of artists and famous songs and bands into the game. Rock Band 4 flopped both because the plastic instrument genre was dead AND because they had no fricking money to buy anything but indie and/or meme tracks. They tried their damndest to preserve DLC cross-generationally (sans RBN), but it wasn't enough to keep it truly alive.
I don't think we'll ever see plastic instrument games come back in vogue outside of niche arcade interests, but there's still a genuine love and passion for rhythm games as a whole. Nearly every rhythm game that uses a unique controller that isn't shaped like a washing machine has incredibly well made home controllers that work either with arcade rips or clones of the game. I seriously think all it would take for something like Clone Hero to really rise to popularity is for some company to offer something like the Divaller but for GH/RB.

They released a 6 button controller, 3 black 3 white so it felt like moving to different strings. It was very hard to relearn and end up not using my pinky or having to slide down. It came down to some truly finger breaking button presses when some chords came up. HO/PO's felt like shit to execute and the notes were deceptively hard to discern if they could be hammered on or pulled off from time to time if they had Starpower on them.
The main set list was 100% trash. You'd end up having to play the kinda cool online mode which consisted of 2 channels that would play Music Videos. One was Pop shit and the other was rock/metal. Go up against like 8 other players in a score challenge and gain rank for calling card shit and some interesting fretboards.
Rock Band 4 is still supported and gets weekly dlc but finding

My friend had to learn controller because i had one guitar at the time. He got good at it, to the point he almost beat Raining Blood before i could on Expert. It was one of the most insane things seeing his fingers do gallops and then that fricking hammer on section, only for him to fail just near the end and get too tired to continue.

Fake news. Rock Band 1, 2 & 3's servers were shut down. You can no longer use the Rock Band Store to buy new songs. But you can store buy them directly from the Xbox 360 Live Market (though the menus for that is ridiculous and it'll be hours of scrolling to find the one song you want) Any songs that you already owned can still be played and still be downloaded from your purchase history. Everything is still supported for Rock Band 4.

You could talk to anyone like "yeah I love playing x" or "man x is soooo difficult" and they would understand if they've played at all. Adding every single song ever to the game was a bad thing and what made people lose interest in the series.

Clone hero is free, requires 0 discord bullshit or ip logging, and has online multiplayer for 5/6 button guitar, bass, drums and keyboard. Every RB/GH song is supported, even songs that werent in the games

For me, it was the weird vision distortion id get immediately after finish a song and not having to focus so intensely. I never looked into what it was called but watching everything in my living room rise 5 feet except my TV was KINO.

I could 99% cliffs of dover on expert with a 360 controller back in the day. good luck playing any song with tremolo though, Raining Blood in the same block was impossible on controller

What guitar did you guys prefer using? I mostly used the one that came with Rock Band 3 that had the solo buttons I never used. I also liked the GH3 guitar though.
I had a cheap one from china
I like the 360 xplorer since it works on PC easily with no extra bullshit and its all one piece unlike the wii les pauls with the detached neck
