The stage selection is a bit disappointing and some of the character choices were moronic but I played the hell out of this game. Way more than the Wii U version because it actually has a fun single player mode. For 3DS they knocked it out of the park imo. 60 FPS and it looks great.
It was the only version of the two that was really worth playing.
Got it day one, played the hell out of it with my friends, enjoyed all the early game jank like Wectoring, then by the time the Wii U version came out nobody cared anymore, never bought any of the DLC or anything.
I don't even own either version anymore, but I've still got the CD set you got for registering both versions, new in the shrinkwrap.
I always wanted a portable Smash game and this is the one inout the most time in. I tore two circle pads playing this over online. I have good memories of playing with anons and trying to get access to the demon on club nintendo. Good times.
Loved it, also kinda hilarious in hindsight how it prevented the WiiU from having such an important exclusive, then again the concept of the WiiU was wholly beyond saving I guess so better to have more Smash sales.
I enjoyed it alot. Used to play 1v1 against my friend all the time. I was able to snipe anything with yoshis eggs on my 2ds controller, I cant do it on the switch for some reason.
Okay sorry i'll give my thoughts now
Loved doing matches with all the customization shit on random so you'd never know what would happen, spirits just doesn't scratch that itch
Smash 4 was so good I made it hate all the other smash games.
Yes that includes Smash 5, which took everything good about Smash 4, fricked it up completely, added needless limitations in order to placate the "competitive fgc community". And the goyslopped it up with a bunch of dogshit characters that only literal homosexuals and zoomers worship.
Absolute GOAT for me. Played the shit out of this in uni, think I got over 1000 or so hours in the end. Still pick it up occassionally to play 1v1 with randos though I'm still a bit sore they never debuffed Cloud further. He's still a little OP.
Played an absolute shit ton of it. It's the reason the B button on my 3DS doesn't work anymore. I'm still shocked that they kept smash run exclusive to 3DS and gave the Wii U version that awful board game mode
I thought it was pretty good. It came out during my junior year of high school, so I’d play it often when I had any free time.
Didn’t have anyone to play with me, but still spent hours on Smash Run and playing various matches with the cpus.
I can’t even remember the last time I played it at all, maybe 2016?
Somehow better than the Wii U version despite being on a way weaker handheld. Better stage selection. Better Classic and All-Star mode. And it has Smash Run.
Pretty insulting if you were a WiiU owner tbh. Like it was bad enough that it was basically Nintendo admitting "frick it even Smash won't save this thing" but they clearly prioritized the 3DS version too and blatantly gave it the better exclusive content. I really wonder why they even bothered making a WiiU version if they clearly had no confidence in it.
4 was shit but it introduced a lot of good ideas >custom moves >8-player smash >master/crazy orders >having fan drip feed online engagement Miiverse for fans of the characters >different version of stages with Omega >Smash Run
is a shame most of these were half-assed and never utilized its potential even scrapped altogether
nah there was more then that >bowser fire ball >game and watch XXL chef + minichef >palutena superspeed + lightweight + jump glide
im sure there were others
Mega Man could've definitely used more variety in his custom moves to be more in line with Palutena. Could've given him Concrete Shot instead of the useless shields. There were tons of interesting moves that just didn't make it into his moveset.
Hell, his Final Smash could've/should've been a combination of Toad Flush, Tornado Blow, Centaur Flash, Astro Crush, and Gravity Hold. It's a travesty that MM8 gets more representation in Mega Man's moveset than MM9, MM10, or MM5.
>Thunder Wool
In Smash a move like that could actually be pretty good, I think it would have been hilarious if one of the worst weapons in his home series became a scrub destroyer in Smash lol.
when this game first released it was some of the most fun i ever had. i was in college at the time and the day after it came out a bunch of guys were all hanging out in the commons playing round robin tourneys with each other. from nerdy asian kids to fat white kids to black jock kids we were all together as one playing smash in between classes, a beautiful fleeting moment of unity. the 3DS era was a great era i truly miss
>make a smash game with all the characters >don't have a proper all-star mode and instead downgrade it into a multi-man smash sub-mode
one of ultimate's biggest crimes for sure
I have no idea why didn't they atleast utilize the stage morph mechanic for it to make it an ironman match with different stages as you go while spawning heart containers
Melee's more random All-Star made it the best for replayability alone. I also like how each character had their home stage even though there weren't enough stages for certain franchises so you ended up fighting Ganondorf in Brinstar Depths, Marth in Fountain of Dreams, and Pichu in Fourside.
Enjoyed it more than the WiiU version, it came out my senior year of high school so me and 3 other friends played it at our lunch table daily, this was the same year our high school got a Little Caesars so life was good.

Great game

Smash Run
I miss it so much
God what i wouldn't give for a fully realized smash run where you can actually frick with other players during the run.
So mad that they didn't bring it to ultimate
It’s incredible they didn’t add this to ANY other smash. It was so good.
what's your guys highscores with smash run?
mines 260k with bowser
How dare you remind me of such lost joys.
you can still play it
Very fond memories of playing this with friends in high school lol. But I’ll probably never play this or Sm4sh ever again
Loved it, also kinda hilarious in hindsight how it prevented the WiiU from having such an important exclusive, then again the concept of the WiiU was wholly beyond saving I guess so better to have more Smash sales.

No one asked for your blog dude, just give your thoughts
Okay sorry i'll give my thoughts now

thanks for your feedback anon. disregard the other fatass that replied to you first
Smash on the go. I loved it.
Smash 4 was so good I made it hate all the other smash games.

Can I still play this game online?
Yeah only the e shop was closed

Superior stages and modes to the Wii U version, better game
First portable smash back in the day, something that was a wet bream. Then you realize portable consoles are not a good place to play smash seriously
Played an absolute shit ton of it. It's the reason the B button on my 3DS doesn't work anymore. I'm still shocked that they kept smash run exclusive to 3DS and gave the Wii U version that awful board game mode

no idea my copy doesn't even work when i download the patches
Fricking rocks. 10 times better than Wii U

New stages were better than the Wii U's, and Smash Run was much better than the board game thing.
4 was shit but it introduced a lot of good ideas

>custom moves
I completely forgot that shit was a thing. I mean, you couldn't use them online so whats the point of having them?
three were only three characters that actually had cool custom moves anyway
>Palutena
>Mega Man
>Miis
nah there was more then that
>bowser fire ball
>game and watch XXL chef + minichef
>palutena superspeed + lightweight + jump glide
im sure there were others

It would've given him insane off-stage pressure for sure.
Ganondorf's Wizard dropkick was pretty cool, and ended up being better than his default down special.
I liked the character select screen saving my preferred colors.
the only good smash game is melee and im tired of pretending otherwise.
when this game first released it was some of the most fun i ever had. i was in college at the time and the day after it came out a bunch of guys were all hanging out in the commons playing round robin tourneys with each other. from nerdy asian kids to fat white kids to black jock kids we were all together as one playing smash in between classes, a beautiful fleeting moment of unity. the 3DS era was a great era i truly miss
Def dont agree with the sentiment ITT, Wii U version was superior and I got more hours out of it (200 vs 320).
For Glory mogs Ultimate's god awful matchmaking hard.
The Handheld Exclusive Trophies were cool
Remember when Smash had a proper All Star Mode taking you through Nintendo’s History?
>make a smash game with all the characters
>don't have a proper all-star mode and instead downgrade it into a multi-man smash sub-mode
one of ultimate's biggest crimes for sure

It killed Ice Climbers and made Zelda/Samus lose their transformation gimmicks
I wish they had the handheld smash bros as more of a standalone thing
I played it on a cruise ship with my brother in laws, was pretty fun
I miss smash run.
Just like Ultimate, the DLC ruined it. Bayonetta was the death knell to everyone's interest in continuing to play the game.
It got me into Smash . Had a blast playing with my friends for hours and hours on Burguer King (due to the refillable drinks)
custom smash moves when?
I think I played 300 hours of that shit so I liked it
Pretty good, except unlocking costumes was such a pain that getting the last hat was my last achievement for 100%ing the game.
Same here.
Took a weirdly long amount of time.
Enjoyed it more than the WiiU version, it came out my senior year of high school so me and 3 other friends played it at our lunch table daily, this was the same year our high school got a Little Caesars so life was good.
remember now fricking crazy people went over trying to get the special demo codes?
i got mine off a get thread
I've still got the demo installed, even if I'll never play it again.
