I think with the multi plat releases they're assuming just PS owners will buy it. SMTV was basically the P5 of SMT games. It sold more than double what the closest game did. SMTIV did like 640k in 6 years, SMTV crossed 1m in 4 months and got to 1.4m in 2 years. It's a huge success and they're probably trying to Persona 5 Royal it.

Essentially you have the option of playing the original SMT5 again with some improvements+changes or playing a new story which takes places at some point in the midway point or something.
It'd be like if SMT4A also let you play the original SMT4 I guess?
The extra shit is an entirely new story. There's a split added very early into the game that gives you the option to play through the old game (with Vengeance's gameplay improvements) or experience the new plot. There's a chance it might even be worthwhile because the game's director talked about how disappointed the staff was with the game's initial release and that Vengeance will have more of the ideas that they had planned as well as stuff fans were asking for.

Save up your grimoires if you want to do the secret ending on NG instead of NG+. Almost no boss is actually immune to status ailments. Use buffs moron. Charge and concentrate are nerfed but they have a bunch of new cooler variants like casting charge on someone else.
