Absolutely nothing wrong with that. DQVII really is the DQ for DQ autists. IT's my favorite for the same reason, but I prefer the PS1 version. Random encounters just fit the map design better in my opinion, and I love the PS1/DS aesthetic.

I could be wrong, it's been like 15 years, but I remember the game saying I needed the moronic plot monster.

It also doesn't have the "entirely different kind of game" thing DQM1 has to stand up against DQM2; Joker 2 is literally the same but better.
8 is my favorite. It's the only one I played to completion and did all the side content for. It's funny because I originally bought the game back on PS2 because I wanted the FFXII demo that came with it. But then I started to play it and got hooked on it.
This is why I hate 8. Everyone says this. Fricking DQ tourists with no interest in the series drove by, never finished any of the others but just proclaim 8 is the best shit ever. Frick Dq8 . I wouldn’t say it’s bad just because it was the first for many. It’s got a lot of flaws, particularly when it comes to combat flow and some pacing problems but it’s a stellar game.
Yangus is the best party member of the series bar fricking none.
I love dragon Quest 3 it’s one of my absolute favorite games. I’ve played 1,2,3,4, and 11 and have enjoyed them all. Thank you toriyama for your service

From a spoiled lady to a strong mother and wife.

I've been a jrpg gay as long as i remember but i never really got into Dragon Quest for some reason, it's been on my games bucket list to play the series someday
>Dating
What the hell are you talking about?
Only in V do you MARRY a girl. It's the only game in the series where that happens.
Also you're a homosexual.
I'd say V, but that would be boring, so I'm going with VI. Replayed it recently and it's just a really neat combination of what made the previous games so good. Also Tania a cute.
>Dating
It's not like the game is some kind of dating sim, you basically just pick a party member. It's also actually part of the story and not just some side fluff since it's about the protag growing from a boy to a man to a father. But if you absolutely hate it, you can just fill your party with monsters.
Dragon Quest V is one of the most special games I’ve ever played. It never strays from being a quirky video game, but the way it presents its story feels so genuinely heartfelt and moving, which is probably multiplied beCAUSE of the videogaminess.
I’ve never cared so much for a silent protag as my guy in that game. Dude went through hell and found true love and raised a family.
II and III themes are great but the best one for me is VIII.
Such a beautiful piece.
I don't really care about the rest.
Now, tell me your favorite battle theme!
VIIs theme NEVER gets old!
I'm not surprised.
It's my second favorite theme!
The piece is perfect for an orchestral score.
Shame that the Nes version of this theme is underwalming at times.
DQIV in general has such a godlike soundtrack, particularly for NES/Famicom. Been playing it on the side for the last two years, it’s pretty tough but once I get into the flow of things it’s insanely immersive.
?feature=shared
You can technically start anywhere, but 1-3 + 11 has shares themes with each other, as does 4-5 with each other. But you are able to start anywhere without much difficulty.
I should clarify.
1 and 2 are directly connected, 2 is a sequel where you play as the hero’s descendants. 3 is a prequel to 1. 11 is a sort of Skyward Sword-style prequel to 3.
4 through 6 are loosely connected with certain themes and imagery, but not very much at all.
7 through 10 are all standalone games.
I’d recommend starting with 1 if you’re very curious on its origins. 3 if you want to play a true classic. 8 or 11S if you want something more modern.
V is the pinnacle, but you shouldn’t start with it just because you’ll probably appreciate its themes more if you’ve played at least one DQ game beforehand so you understand the general series concepts better.
I really REALLY fricking love how they make a point to constantly show how loved and respected Pankraz was by every single person you meet during the childhood part. That game really had three heroes.
Gonna get shat on for this buuuuuut it's so odd how most of DQ's music is terrible but there's some incredible pieces of music like the one you just posted. It's like the composer gave up on most tracks except for maybe 2 or 3 of them per DQ game.
I recently replayed it and fricking loved it. The speed of the battles seeing all party members with their equipment, the customisation and jobs. Quite a lot of death in the story too which I had forgotten.
I still wish IX had come out on PSP. The lag caused by your party members in towns was just silly. And on the PSP we would have been able to party up on Xlink or Pro Online. I always waited for the DS tunneling project but it was too proprietary to be done.
Not really a fan of it either. I've tried playing it three times and I always bounce off it around the time you get the boat. Upover is the farthest I've made it.
It was my first so I don't want to be too harsh on it, but I really disliked how majority of the content is in the post game and it's locked behind endless grinding. After a while it starts to feel more like Animal Crossing than Dragon Quest.
I still think it's a good game, but it's also really unsatisfying in a way. It probably has my least favorite ending in any game I've ever played, because it's technically not even the end.
I've only completed 9 and gotten just past the part where your kids rescue you in 5. I'm not playing the others in english and they aren't even legitimately on pc anyways.
GBC 1 is based. It has the best chiptune renditions of the soundtrack and the NPC sprites are great. I just wish it had the screen res and battle window backgrounds of the Famicom version.
People always praise Toriyama for his designs but his perspective and battle scenery skills are out of this world. When you read a fight in dragon ball you can perfectly see the fight as if it were animated, the transitions and angles are so good.
I'm still not sure how I want to play VIII.
PS2 has better soundtrack but 3DS has more refinements. I also like overworked enemies populating the lands
With Dragon Ball he earned the kind of money where it's hard to still give a frick about money. Plus he knew he would never top Dragon Ball in success. We losers can't imagine it but it's hard to give a frick when you are this successful. If you put yourself in his shoes at the end of Dragon Ball, would you really feel that spark to make great artwork?
>(II) should only be played if you want a lesson in tedium
I still think the NES games have charm and are perfectly playable. Guide even says to play them in release order to see the improvements. Maybe I just like the games too much and want to play every version.
I played the switch version of 2 and i don't get the hate, it was very fun and i wasn't lost at any time, idk if they improved it on the switch version
4 had a very strong main cast of characters who all had well defined goals and interesting personalities that didn't depended on the main plot nor the Hero character. There was also a feeling of accomplishment in getting them together, seeing them become friends and all that. Party chat played a big role in making them memorable and interesting.
You spend most of the time in V surrounded by monsters who have no dialogue or personalities. All the human characters just automatically love you unconditionally. Your father is fine with you adventuring on your own despite being so protective. Your kingdom has no trouble with you leaving to adventure after being absent. Your children don't have trouble adjusting to being around their long lost father. Your wife fricks off for most of the game. And in the end, everything and everyone is either endlessly sucking your dick or has their character built around you. The only exception is Debora who felt more like a DQ4 character.
Not that anon, but I'm just going to pick on some of your points >Your father is fine with you adventuring on your own
He didn't even know what you were up to until you had already come back. Pretty sure he even tells you not to wander off alone again after the ghost castle. >Your kingdom has no trouble with you leaving to adventure after being absent
They literally stop you from leaving the castle and you have to use the magic shoes to escape. The second time they realise it's futile to try to stop you and reluctantly let you go. >Your children don't have trouble adjusting to being around their long lost father.
There are few lines that allude to that, like your son asking if it's okay to call you dad. >Your wife fricks off for most of the game
Yeah, I can agree that was pretty weak especially since you barely got to spend time with her. Then again I guess that was the whole point. History repeats itself and all that.
I really liked 6.
It felt very fantastical with the dream world and missing pieces land scattered.
I also really liked the ruined kingdom that summoned an evil god in the hopes that it will defeat the demon lord only for everyone within the kingdom to het killed.
Everything felt very much like a fairy tale and dreamlike no pun intended.
8 was the first dragon quest I ever played when it came to ps2. But also fell in love with DQ7 Fragments of the forgotten past for 3ds. It's like saturday morning episodic little stories that sometimes intermingle with eachother as you jump back and forth. Shame about Keifer, but you trade Keifer for a hot as frick woman
Flooded area.... I don't quite remember. What was the previous story venture you had before reaching that point? I'm trying to remember. There's something that sounds kind of similar with a monster that was causing a rain storm and that rain storm also happened to have been the one that brought down the rain that turned an entire town into stone.
V, by far. It's amazing that this game, back in the early 90s, did a much better job at telling a compelling story about family, duty and the relationship between a father and his son, than fricking Final Fantasy XV in 2016.
>did a much better job at telling a compelling story about family, duty and the relationship between a father and his son, than fricking Final Fantasy XV in 2016.
to be fair, what game DIDN'T do that better than FF15?
Most common complaint I've seen is that it's very easy to get stuck without knowing where to go next.
It's really not that bad and there's even a fortune teller character to tell you where to go next. And the party chat in the DS version keeps reminding you that she exist and you should go talk to her if you're feeling lost.
In short, it filters explorelets and people who can't read.
having just beaten it a couple months ago >story starts with lots of promise >lots of meandering with little indication where to go or what to do next >snes version has moronic event triggers like you have to talk to an unrelated guy before the sky turns grey and you can progress >cool story beats fizzle out without a lot of payoff >alltrades abbey and by extension navigating the world is annoying(you need 2 boats and 2 planes and 2 of this and 2 of that) >party is overly bloated >end game gets annoying >MC has a pretty weak design
My playthrough of 6 can be basically be summed up as "this could easily be the best DQ, had it not been for all the annoying moronic decisions in this game" and frankly, im halfway through 7 and I feel very similar in spirit to that
6 and 7 are both VERY guilty of being slow and not doing a good job starting the game with purpose. Both games open with this slowburn "Ooooooh how is this going to open up", before 20 hours of mostly unrelated mandatory borderline sidequests. fragment hunting on ps1 is wiener and ball torture, I feel no shame in recommending the 3ds version. when you get a boat in other DQ games you get this grand sense of the world opening up for you but 6 has such a gay map youll find the boat only gets you 1 place without bells and whistles, and in 7 there just isnt anywhere to fricking go.
hate aside, theyre both still good enough games but theyre easily the weakest of the bunch.
>lots of meandering with little indication where to go or what to do next
>MASSIVE parts of pure padding >Its just boring >Despite technically being the final SNES era DQ it feels so fricking stripped back and toned down compared to even other DQ games released on that consoles >Doesn't give you any idea what to do or where to go, lack of hand holding is actually fine with me but at least a hint as to what to do next
>Doesn't give you any idea what to do or where to go
The game has a character for this exact purpose and she keeps telling you to visit her before and after the game opens up. You only have yourself to blame if you don't go talk to her when you get stuck.
>MASSIVE parts of pure padding >Its just boring >Despite technically being the final SNES era DQ it feels so fricking stripped back and toned down compared to even other DQ games released on that consoles >Doesn't give you any idea what to do or where to go, lack of hand holding is actually fine with me but at least a hint as to what to do next
no. The appeal is that its mechanics are very pure and not overcomplicated with dogshit bloated moronic mechanics like late stage final fantasy. Each new game is an original story with all new characters. Use your noggin
I dunno man, I think a single character RPG that takes place almost entirely on the world map is pretty different from a game that's split into chapters that are each based around a new party and gameplay gimmick.
7, 8, and 9 are my favourites. 7 was my first, 9 I played the most and loved the customization and endless fun grind. 8 I only really came around to with the 3DS port with its brilliant photo side quest and having foes appear on the field for quicker access to battles.
So far I'm playing the usually top 3 ranked DQ (DQ5) and it's okay so far but it's been lacking any sort of direction for the entire game now and I'm on the 3rd Generation, like things are happening but we don't really know why. Also the monster captching aspect is severely oversold and there's no way this is better than DQ4's party system?
Ruined the game for me. Only good party member and the catalyst for the whole adventure in the first place leaves not only that he left the others to deal with what was happening to run off for some girl he didn't even know
Completely soured me on the game. What he did was in no way based. It still disgusts me to this day.
I still love III the best. I think it's even better if you played the first 2 because the overarching theme of legacy hits that much harder when the "legendary" Erdrick was just some schmuck who was also trying to surpass a great hero. I also love exploring the world. Getting to some weird locations in the world map and talking to an NPC that tells you Ortega has been here really emphasizes just how great of a hero he is and how big the shoes you have to fill are. My main hope for the remake is to give the combat more depth and even then I can play the SNES version any time.
IV, though I also liked IX. The weirder part is that I can't even say I really like the series that much, but I still played each one anyway(with the exception of VI, which simply never entered my radar for whatever reason). I think it's all because I got the first game for free with the NP promotion and skinner-boxed myself on the grinding.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. DQVII really is the DQ for DQ autists. IT's my favorite for the same reason, but I prefer the PS1 version. Random encounters just fit the map design better in my opinion, and I love the PS1/DS aesthetic.

I played 1-6. Each game I played got better until 6 which I hated so I quit. Should I try 7? DQ5 was one of the best games I ever played.
6 is pretty much the black sheep of the series, your reaction is pretty much the same one everyone else has. You should definitely give 7 a try.
If you didn't like 6 you're definitely not gonna like 7. Just skip to 8.
6 and 7 are both black sheeps of the series, 7 moreso than 6.
7 is basically 6 on steroids but with worse cast and map.
4 5 8 11 are the best ones
6 is god awful

That's unfair.
His design is pretty good, to be fair.
>XI that high
>VII that low
>Fem IV not in S
At least we can all agree that the design of VI mc is shit.
Are you happy now?
Leave it to me.
Didn’t include the ones you design yourself.
I could never stand the updated designs for the first three games. Toriyama's early art style was a lot more charming for those characters.
Yeah OG 3 has absolutely wonderful art.
I do like some of the art for the SNES remakes but the Gameboy versions are pretty poor in comparison.
i really like toriyama's early art, dq5 is another example
its crazy how the last thing toriyama drew on his deathbed was a futawiener
I think his art was always good. His later stuff is less detailed because old and tired, but it's still nice and often has a better sense of space.
I keep forgetting your sibling in X is technically a protagonist in the offline Wii version.
>X in S

For the ones I've played:
Best:
V on DS,VII on DS, and VIII on DS as well.

Bad:

I played DQM1 first bad in junior high and it was great. I meant to pick up the sequels but never did. Still have to play 4-6 one day, but from the others it's 7.
8 PS2 by far
Was Ladja the series best villain, as a more personal quest? Which one actually had the highest body count to his name?
8 on PS2 is the only one I ever played. It was good but I never finished it. I just bought 11 on the Switch, but haven't played it yet. I'm interested in the HD2D remake of 3, but it seems like it's never coming out.

Yes, she has a really good character development throughout the game.

I remember picking her as a joke on my second playthrough and having a laugh at the party chat. Caught me completely off guard when she gradually started showing glimpses of genuine kindness and honestly after getting to the end I can't imagine playing the game with anyone but her anymore.
I'm kind of curious about what Nera is like but the thought of picking her makes me feel a bit dirty.
>Nera
She has less personality than Bianca.
And by less I mean zero personality.
I like her because I love maiden/princess-y designs in video games and they are few and far between.
I also like giving the kids cool blue hair.
Nera only exists to guilt Japanese kids for going after stereotypical waifus.
i really liked 1-3, can't pick one of them as favorite

XI.
I don't care that it doesn't have party members, the cast makes up for it
Shit I mean IX frick sake
Which overworld themes do you like the most?
Yes
II and III themes are great but the best one for me is VIII.
Such a beautiful piece.
I don't really care about the rest.
Now, tell me your favorite battle theme!
VIIs theme NEVER gets old!
For me it’s IV by quite a landslide.
Don’t mind the DQIX thumbnail, it was just the first orchestral one I could find.
?feature=shared
>VII
>not this
The order varies depending on my mood, but the top 3 for me is
VII (past)
V
VI (real world)
Traveling with Friends!
DQ2 was peak Sugiyama
I like the more solemn traveling themes.
?si=E1ySglBHjpSABaL2
V mc looks cool.
Love me desert looks
simple as
DQV is pure frickin magic
?feature=shared
True. This game is something else.
I really REALLY fricking love how they make a point to constantly show how loved and respected Pankraz was by every single person you meet during the childhood part. That game really had three heroes.
that's a boy
Gonna get shat on for this buuuuuut it's so odd how most of DQ's music is terrible but there's some incredible pieces of music like the one you just posted. It's like the composer gave up on most tracks except for maybe 2 or 3 of them per DQ game.
I play the celestial like a Saiyan
I recently replayed it and fricking loved it. The speed of the battles seeing all party members with their equipment, the customisation and jobs. Quite a lot of death in the story too which I had forgotten.
no one asked but the 3ds version of dq 11 is the best
How so?
>3ds version
>of dq 11
I am a simple person, so my favorite is 3
I found VII rather boring. I stopped playing it when the old feller joined I think
What’s everyone’s favorite monster? Mine is Slime Knight.
Slime knight is cool! He was with me for most of the second half of the game.
Golem is my bro tho! I love him so much!
Good old Metal Slime
Killing machine. I love his funny legs.
Slime Knight is one of my favs. There are too many good monster designs in this series.
urgh, now i feel bad again
I like his crit-or-miss attack
Do I have to play these games in order or can I just start anywhere?
I still wish IX had come out on PSP. The lag caused by your party members in towns was just silly. And on the PSP we would have been able to party up on Xlink or Pro Online. I always waited for the DS tunneling project but it was too proprietary to be done.
Hate IX.
VIII is the only mainline game I haven't played
Hate is a bit strong.
You meant you love it, no ?
Not really a fan of it either. I've tried playing it three times and I always bounce off it around the time you get the boat. Upover is the farthest I've made it.
9 is the best. Fight me
It does have a cute brown bong girl
Nah. I didn't like IX that much, but I can see why some people loved it.
>It was my first
First I actually beat, I mean.
As an mmogay, I agree.
y
V, XI
I've only completed 9 and gotten just past the part where your kids rescue you in 5. I'm not playing the others in english and they aren't even legitimately on pc anyways.
6
Its hard, its big, it has monster taming.
moronic take I know but the game boy color version of Dragon Warrior 1. It's just very cozy and simple and I breeze through it every year.
GBC 1 is based. It has the best chiptune renditions of the soundtrack and the NPC sprites are great. I just wish it had the screen res and battle window backgrounds of the Famicom version.
Nah its a great version, cut down on grinding and the gbc style is soulful
Post em
Here's my own, currently playing through DQ7 now. Only mainline DQs I haven't beat yet are 2, 7, and 8.
The only ones I haven't beaten are X (lmao) and III, which I've never even started.
I don't know why, don't ask me.
CHILD PREDATOR
TAKE THE HAG PILL
People always praise Toriyama for his designs but his perspective and battle scenery skills are out of this world. When you read a fight in dragon ball you can perfectly see the fight as if it were animated, the transitions and angles are so good.
yeah, everything is so clean and flowing
He was always a comics artist first and foremost.
This song is comfy as frick. I had forgotten about it
I'm still not sure how I want to play VIII.
PS2 has better soundtrack but 3DS has more refinements. I also like overworked enemies populating the lands
grafix + menus = better adventure
So PS2?
This really makes me wish they waited for the Switch to come out. We'll probably get it again but it seems they lost momentum on the remakes/ports.
3DS absolutely mogs the PS2 version
Red is worth the 3DS version alone.
I always wanted to play this game but could never solve the dilemma of most content vs. best graphics so I played other games instead.
hack your 3DS and patch in orchestra music.
Didn't the Japanese version of DQ8 have the Orchestra? Was it due to the composer being anal?
due to SE not wanting to pay him
no, they took so long to localize it they had to renew the license and were too cheap too. Don't fall for SE propaganda.
I'm replaying it on 3DS and the thing that annoys me the most is Jessica's "new" voice. It's not horrible but it's a pity.
PS2 and it's not even close. None of the "refinements" in the 3DS version are worth playing a game that looks and sounds worse.
this, crunchy 3ds audio and crunchy 3ds graphics with popin trees isnt worth a slightly better alchemy pot, noncanon party members and faster combat
3DS version would mog PS2 if SE wasn't moronic and let rot on 3DS only,
I almost liked DQB2 a lot but good god it just wanted to waste my time on the most boring, repetitive shit.
6 & 7
When did Toriyama go downhill. He had so much SOUL back in the day.
He became rich. Artists are always the worst people when it comes to dealing with the effects of money.
He was already a millionaire before he created dragon ball.
What are you talking about?
With Dragon Ball he earned the kind of money where it's hard to still give a frick about money. Plus he knew he would never top Dragon Ball in success. We losers can't imagine it but it's hard to give a frick when you are this successful. If you put yourself in his shoes at the end of Dragon Ball, would you really feel that spark to make great artwork?
Like every god artist when he went digital the soul kinda went away
Anyone have the DQ chart? With the recommended versions and etc.
Only played VII on the 3ds and VIII on the ps2
Oh, that's not the one i was thinking, this one looks much better, thanks anon
>(II) should only be played if you want a lesson in tedium
I still think the NES games have charm and are perfectly playable. Guide even says to play them in release order to see the improvements. Maybe I just like the games too much and want to play every version.
I played the switch version of 2 and i don't get the hate, it was very fun and i wasn't lost at any time, idk if they improved it on the switch version
Swords
Lying ass motherfricker
It's fun
reddit template btw
How would you know?
>V
ellaborate
Not that anon, but I'm just going to pick on some of your points
>Your father is fine with you adventuring on your own
He didn't even know what you were up to until you had already come back.
It's one of my absolute favorites too, so many great moments. I really don't understand why people hate it so much.
8
was going to be 11 but then Act 3 happened
8 was the first dragon quest I ever played when it came to ps2. But also fell in love with DQ7 Fragments of the forgotten past for 3ds. It's like saturday morning episodic little stories that sometimes intermingle with eachother as you jump back and forth. Shame about Keifer, but you trade Keifer for a hot as frick woman
I played 7 on the PS1 but got stuck at the flooded area
Flooded area.... I don't quite remember. What was the previous story venture you had before reaching that point? I'm trying to remember. There's something that sounds kind of similar with a monster that was causing a rain storm and that rain storm also happened to have been the one that brought down the rain that turned an entire town into stone.
like the entire map of that area got flooded, I forgot if it was the past or the present but the bosses of both eras were fishmen
They fricking need to remake 9 with online
Never played 6, why do people hate it?
Most common complaint I've seen is that it's very easy to get stuck without knowing where to go next.
It's really not that bad and there's even a fortune teller character to tell you where to go next. And the party chat in the DS version keeps reminding you that she exist and you should go talk to her if you're feeling lost.
In short, it filters explorelets and people who can't read.
The story is boring.
The party blows.
The boss fights aren't interesting.
The dungeons are boring.
It's just a fricking snore.
that might explain why I had so much trouble getting into it over the other ones. I had no problem playing 8, 9 and 11 but I quit 6 after a few hours
You will 99% of the time have carver and millie on your team
Honorable mention to Neville and Amos
having just beaten it a couple months ago
>story starts with lots of promise
>lots of meandering with little indication where to go or what to do next
>snes version has moronic event triggers like you have to talk to an unrelated guy before the sky turns grey and you can progress
>cool story beats fizzle out without a lot of payoff
>alltrades abbey and by extension navigating the world is annoying(you need 2 boats and 2 planes and 2 of this and 2 of that)
>party is overly bloated
>end game gets annoying
>MC has a pretty weak design
My playthrough of 6 can be basically be summed up as "this could easily be the best DQ, had it not been for all the annoying moronic decisions in this game" and frankly, im halfway through 7 and I feel very similar in spirit to that
that's funny, the other DQ I had trouble getting into was 7 besides 6. I even finished 9 no problem but those two just are hard to get into
6 and 7 are both VERY guilty of being slow and not doing a good job starting the game with purpose.
>Doesn't give you any idea what to do or where to go
The game has a character for this exact purpose and she keeps telling you to visit her before and after the game opens up. You only have yourself to blame if you don't go talk to her when you get stuck.
look fella, its real cute that you played the frickin ds version but the snes version does have granny fortune on a frickin a cell phone.
>MASSIVE parts of pure padding
>Its just boring
>Despite technically being the final SNES era DQ it feels so fricking stripped back and toned down compared to even other DQ games released on that consoles
>Doesn't give you any idea what to do or where to go, lack of hand holding is actually fine with me but at least a hint as to what to do next
DQ9
DQV
DQ7 3ds
reminder that the real toriyama fans are buying sandland and not playing reddit quest
You can like both things.
nope
11 was my first one and I enjoyed the frick out of it. Went back and tried the others. My second favorite is 8
Will this ever come out?
>May 27, 2021
Currently playing 11. Holy shit it's so much better with the retro music mod.
11 by far
then 4
then 3
then 5
aren't they basically all the same?
like isn't the appeal that the game is literally the same every time, with improvement in graphics?
Haha, what X
Is there a way to hide the mini map and location text in 11?
Dq9 has class switching kino
Desperately needs a remake that includes all the dlc
Is monsters 3 good?
It looks bad and runs badly like a pokemon game, but if the gameplay is good I' willing to overlookthat
It's fun but not as good as the past Monsters.
Also the monster captching aspect is severely oversold and there's no way this is better than DQ4's party system?
>use turn camera trick in Trode's castle for LMS
That's it, I've beaten the game. It's over.
9 > 3 > 5
I love VIII & I love morrie.
3DS version is awesome.
8. 7 might've been if Keifer hadn't left
>leaves party of pussy
He is based anon.
for*
Shit I need to sleep
Ruined the game for me. Only good party member and the catalyst for the whole adventure in the first place leaves not only that he left the others to deal with what was happening to run off for some girl he didn't even know
Completely soured me on the game. What he did was in no way based. It still disgusts me to this day.
For me it's Monsters: Caravan Heart. Such a kino experience.
xi
I still love III the best. I think it's even better if you played the first 2 because the overarching theme of legacy hits that much harder when the "legendary" Erdrick was just some schmuck who was also trying to surpass a great hero. I also love exploring the world. Getting to some weird locations in the world map and talking to an NPC that tells you Ortega has been here really emphasizes just how great of a hero he is and how big the shoes you have to fill are. My main hope for the remake is to give the combat more depth and even then I can play the SNES version any time.
I've gotten through 1 to 4 and so far while 4 is fundamentally the better game mechanic wise I liked 3 more.
I haven't beaten 1-3 but I did play all of them. I want to play 4,5,6 but have no DS so I don't know which versions to play.
4's best version is the phone port of the ds version unless you read japanese.
Rocket Slime
Since it was my intro into the series.
so now that both sugiyama and toriyama are dead is dragon quest a zombie?
What would a mainline DQ without the main 3 even look like?
>X never
