More high-profile, big-money events means more scrutiny. Saudi Arabia may not like the outcome. I think it'll be a good thing in the long run.

I expect EVs to remain a relatively niche product suitable for urban/suburban areas in the short and medium term. Even if all new cars were EVs (not even close lmao), it would still be decades before existing ICE vehicles aged out of mass use.

I may be off on this, but it seems like a long-term trend that's been hyped up as a marketing gimmick and political stunt. Which makes it difficult to discuss.

Nothing inherently wrong with the concept, it was just pushed too hard along with them erroneously trying to make them mainstream. If it could be disentangled from corporations by some means then it would probably be fine.

        >If it could be disentangled from corporations by some means then it would probably be fine.
The problem is that, much like regular sports before it, the moment there was any amount of money or publicity involved the businessmen began to arrive and make things significantly worse.

True. I think a lot of this falls on corporations involved with gaming seeing Starcraft getting huge in South Korea and thinking they could replicate that elsewhere. What doesn't help is that they insist on trying to push new games for it rather than actually investing and building upon popularity that is already there. All because they want more money which they believe they would get if they owned the game that was big.
