Of course people support AI to replace modern day game devs. Look at blizzard and every other western game company, look at fricking bethesda. AI couldn't come at a better time to cull these motherfrickers.

All it will do is empower Bethesda to be lazier. You live in a dream world where Bethesda will be put out of a job by AI games, when they'll just be the ones pumping out even more soulless slop themselves.

      based.
i'd rather outsource to AI than outsource to pajeets

The argument against ai is it will ruin everybodys livelihoods and its peak will be mid, the pro aiers say mid is better than woke stuff and actual creatives deserve their ruination for being woke

As someone using AI to fill in my lack of artistic talent in indie dev, I couldn't agree more.

If I can easily make an asset myself or use a free one I do. But if it's going to cost money or take too much time, I go straight to AI.

No. You can always make human changes. Its here to stay.

Yes. Best case scenario, they pump out weird amalgamations of existing games since AI just isn't able to into design any other way right now.

You shouldn't be able to use AI generation for a retail product unless you legally own all the data it was trained upon. It's fine for people fricking around with, or free fan made mods though.

Ok, but the billion dollar corporations that actually fund a lot of these major AI developers don't want to do that since it just over complicates production and makes it more difficult for them to rake in profits.

Don't worry, I'm sure those billionaire corps will pay courts to undermine justice and enable them to use any data that's convenient without legal ramifications.

They already pretty much do whatever they want so yeah.

This is the stupidest most single digit IQ take I hear when it comes to anti AI rhetoric. That's like saying you aren't allowed to be an artist because everything you know about drawing was just copying Da Vinci or that every single electronic music track ever shouldn't exist because they sampled the amen break, or that Ocarina of Time's soundtrack is plagiarism because most of it is just Spectrasonic Distorted Reality Number 1.

        >Spectrasonic Distorted Reality Number 1
Thank you so much. I've been trying to remember OoT's soundfont source for years after a video listed them.

That depends, have new tools and technologies reflected an increase in the quality of games over the last 10 years? What about movies now compared to movies 30 years ago? Are artists with image manipulation software better now than people crushing bugs for paint 400 years ago?

I don't know using it to ape dead talent seems like a good way to exacerbate the already massive fear of originality in the industry.

AI isn't going anywhere so may as well get used to the idea of it being used in game development.

It sounds like a good shortcut, but you know it's going to result in much, much more pajeetware. You thought GTA definitive was bad? Buckle up. It's gonna get a whole lot worse.

I would automatically assume the game just rips off another game, and think it's shit.

All slop all the time because 1) artists will be out of work and 2) soulless art will never capture the soul of something that a human made.

I will never ever touch a game with AI-generated assets in it

untill you do, because you weren't able to tell it's AI generated, that's kinda how tech goes

  16. 4 months ago

No, because we'll eventually (10 years from now) have access to illegal de-israeliteified AI that we can use to remove women from games once and for all

It's going to result in a creative dark age but there's nothing we can do about it. People are already talentless hacks so why not go all in.
In half a century people will be amazed to learn that humans used to create art ourselves.

If we lived in a better world without greedy corpo suits and naive tech bros; AI would be a very useful tool if paced and adjusted to be fair with flesh and blood workers.

As it stand today though, It's doomed because the big partiest interested only see it as a way to save money and time on making shit to sell to the "9-5" crowd. Sure you can do unique things with it, but it'll be overshadowed by simple greed. You won't be able to even gently suggest use of AI in one aspect or another because the assumption will go right to forcing someone out of work.

If modern games weren't so fricking shit already maybe I'd be more adverse to AIslop but at this point AI is just another flavor of slop along with AAAslop and indieslop. Not only that but the that video that showed Tangled redrawn as a traditionally animated Disney movie already looked better that all of the garbage nuDisney hs shat out over the past 20 years.

    >So anon, what's your stance on AI generated stuff for game development?
I think it's a tool like any other that can be useful for a few situations
    >Is it doomed to be slop?
Independent of my stance above, yes
Because people are lazy c**ts and will try and use it to replace creativity instead of replacing busywork
