The only reason we are getting all these updates is because some autists managed to befriend a Valve intern and convince him to work together on improving TF2.
If not for them Valve would just throw out seasonal maps and cosmetics forever until people lost interest in game completely.

I remember wanting TF2 to get ported to source 2 many years ago.
After seeing CS2, I'm glad it didn't happen.
More stability as far as I can tell and a minor increase in framerate. The bots will still be a problem and the game will still absolutely run like utter shit regardless.

Well the one major one is the move to Source 2 would mean cutting out the middle ware with the SDK that's made it progressively harder to make content for their games, and very pertinently, though for completely befuddling reasons the fact that the SDK could run native on linux instead of how it is now where you have to have your entire steam installation AND whatever game you're compiling for running through wine, and even that doesn't really work.

Slight performance boost when in larger servers and not being hard capped to 4GB of memory. Almost nothing if you're playing matchmaking, but Mann vs Machine has some actual improvements for modern potatoes.
