iirc Bank is still going to work after online ends. For now at least.
Yeah and Sword/Shield will have high quality animations.
Why? You can still transfer everything up to B2W2, the last pokemon game
Not for long, it's a ticking time bomb and should be gone by next year. Hurry and transfer anything you want right now.
They can’t retroactively edit gen 5 roms to remove gen 4 transfer or gen 4 rims to remove gen 3 transfer
But they can very easily cut off Pokémon Home servers, meaning there is no way to get them into Pokémon Home.
just inject them into swshit
you can't inject transferred mons into a switch game, the tracker can't be replicated player-side. you have to inject them into sm/usum and send them to home manually
iirc swsh is fine because the Home tracker wasn't added until later so technically you could have transferred it before the tracker got added and not have moved it back since so Home doesn't flag them
Release the Home Tracker algorithm, Nintendo!
This means everything from gens 3 to gen 7. Do not delay.
Oh also gens 1 and 2 too, because of the virtual console.
Bank is not run by Nintendo and will still work for an undetermined amount of time
Why didn't they patch bank into the system firmware so every 3DS has it inbuilt without needing to hack?
Yeah so they should just keep it running because they get funding for it from HOME
They made the right call by not imposing this thing on everyone's console just for one series of games imo
Home ID's were a mistake
Probably a stupid question, but is there any way they could keep Bank as an offline app and still allow it to connect to Home? Or is direct communication between a 3DS and a Switch or phone just unfeasible?
I mean yeah they could. They could do fricking anything anon doesn't mean they will bother.
If they've shut down the eShop for the 3DS then there's pretty much no official way to even distribute an update to Bank or the 3DS games that would enable additional functionality. The only thing they can do is continue to run Pokemon Bank's servers until they decide it's not worth doing any more.
Although since no new players can officially install Bank anymore, Bank usage should theoretically go down over time so it will also become cheaper and cheaper to run. So unless there's a massive price spike for servers in the future, it will probably cost less to maintain Bank over time and there should be little incentive to do so.
*little incentive to shut it down. Also since Home requires a paid subscription for the premium version, they could easily just factor in the cost of running Bank into the price of a Home subscription.
It would have been easier for everyone for them to do that in the first place, the entire reason Bank and Home exist is because they want control over transferring, not convenience for you.
Given how rife hacked/glitched Pokemon are, I'm not surprised that they wanted some sort of control over Pokemon transfers. The GTS is gen 6 and 7 are literally unusable because they're filled with glitched entries, gen 7's GTS will literally crash your console if you try to open it.
Should I keep my legit shiny Ho-Oh in Heart Gold forever? I think I just might...
Yes, do that. Don’t disgrace it by putting it in some shitty nugen slop. It deserves better.
Yeah, you are totally right. Thanks, anon.
if you have a hacked 3ds, back up the save, transfer, and reload
run the backup in pkhex before you frick around to ensure the backup software didn't shit itself copying, checkpoint almost fricked me one time
Please keep it in HGSS, bringing over full odds sprite shinies to 3D games is degeneracy
Yeah, I figured that out. I transfefred my shiny Gastrodon from Platinum to Y years ago. I did so because I wanted to replay Platinum, so I transferred some favourites and that one shiny. But with the shiny Ho-Oh on Heart Gold I hesitated (and ultimetaly decided to keep it on Heart Gold).
transferred*
The link says Bank and Transporter will stay running for an indefinite amount of time so they've probably got a year or two left in them.
>implying GF won’t use the unova remake as an excuse to permacut ribbons
This is why I was against Dexit. The Arcanine I've been obtaining every ribbon on since I got XD for my birthday nearly 20 years ago can no longer obtain every ribbon.
Game Freak could've just decided to stop doing the Natdex and still allow the rest of the Pokemon to be usable like the did in gen 7, but that was too much work to put in for a multibillion dollar franchise apparently.
They announced a while ago that they're keeping Bank online afterwards, but that you should transfer stuff up as soon as possible.
I don't see it lasting much longer than a year. There's no real incentive for them to keep it online when they aren't getting sub money anymore and the amount of people that still actively use Bank is probably pretty small at this point since it technically can't get any new users. It's been fine for years but if the other servers going offline frick up Bank somehow then they have no way to push an update since the eshop closed.
True ribbon masters died with the dex cut anyway. There's such a small handful of mons that can get everything now.
Honestly with how ribbons work these days, I value Pokemon that have a bunch of ribbons far less than a Pokemon with specific ribbons or marks that I want. I'm not saying people should outright not have the option to ribbon master if there is a choice, but there is a lot of shit like the Kalos Champion RIbbon or the day of the week ribbon that I think most people with actual rare ribbons are not going to miss.
That's why marks exist now. Most of them you can't just earn.
I like marks too. It's just shiny hunting light, or if you pair it with shiny hunting, shiny hunting plus.
It's trivial to inject/edit a Pokemon to have every single ribbon with Homebrew on a 3DS, then legally transfer it from Bank to Home. Then once it has a Home tracker value you can just edit the Pokemon to receive the other ribbons (or just legally obtain the ribbons in the Switch games yourself). So the only reason to have a ribbon master is because you personally want to do the challenge, not because it has any "value" to other players.

That won't do anything for Bank though. When they shut it down they're probably going to remove the transfer key input from Home.
Semi related but does this even work for gens 6 and 7 for things like the GTS where there needs to be a way to pull that data (in the same vein as pkmnclassic) or are you just saying that because it's a theoretically possible thing.
Every time someone linked this for the past two years, they always said that they were in a closed beta and it looks like at this point you can at least freely install what they have to offer except Miiverse.
An open source alternative network may allow people to continue Wi-Fi trading/battling, and they may even create their own version of Bank (although that seems a bit pointless if PKSM exists and lets you store 1000s of Pokemon on your 3DS already). But that's not going to fix the main problem that Bank->HOME connectivity could be severed at any time and effectively stop all new transfers from gen 7 games and earlier.
Why do you care anymore? Pokemon are meant to be disposable.

I don't understand burger, this mean in April or August?
