I just place my summon sign in front of boss rooms if at all and never deal with invaders since we immediately go through the fog gate. But I hardly coop anyway, especially not during first playthroughs.
I also don't think Souls PvP is a good game. The netcode is really bad, I'd rather just play a proper fighting game if I wanted to fight other players. This wierd competitive/e-sport agression feels really misplaced in an exploration focused single player game without matchmaking/elo.

Again anon, you can project all you like to make yourself feel better but the issue with previous FromSoft titles is that they were niche. Elden Ring is a different beast, it has wider appeal, and that wider appeal means players who despise pvp are now playing it because it's leagues more popular than prior titles.
Eventually, you'll see a change because of these new people. It'll start small, maybe a longer cooldown on invades, but eventually they'll get what they want because mainstream appeal quashes it. It's how it works for any game that gets popular.

I enjoy the story but I don't care for pvp. Why is that not ok? I think the bigger question is, why do you want to pvp with someone who doesn't want to pvp you in return? I don't really enjoy PvP in these games. They clearly aren't built for it. I dabbled into it back in DS 2/3 and "getting good" didn't feel all that rewarding when I was just doing the same loop everytime. The time you spend actually fighting is minimal to the time you spent waiting/traversing the area.
People really think it's about invaders and not the fact that you have to constantly reload, resummon, have no horse, and can't actually travel around the map in the base game during multiplayer?

I don't like PvP because I like making specific unique builds that are often times very sub-optimal.
In PvE I can build my character however I want. Certain bosses may suck, but they're a consistent problem for me to tackle over and over until I beat them.

In the base game you have to be resummoned every time you or the host die
Have to use another item to be resummoned
Have to try to make it back to the boss room again because progress is reset
Have to fight another invader/invaders again
Rinse and repeat again because you were killed, again
You just wasted 20-30 minutes on this bullshit
you maybe only have an hour or two to play with your friend for that night
Repeat over and over until progress is made
