great. how does it play with kb+m? i don't have a controller atm.

it doesn't, if you don't have a controller you're better off picking up the MGS1+2 PC ports that originally came out and mod them to make the controls not shit, or just emulate

That's Snake in mgs4 you moron

Not him but he's clearly referring to the first two. Young Snake is generally depicted as clean shaven, while young Big Boss has a beard.

I'm guessing Fortnite is just copying the Smash Bros version of Snake, but in Smash Bro's case I think they purposely kept him as a vague combination of Solid Snake and Naked Snake. Pic-related is basically Naked Snake in Solid Snake's outfit and I think they made a point to refer to him as simply "Snake" rather than explicitly calling him "Solid Snake" which is what Fortnite is doing.

Smash Snake is Solid Snake. They even give him codec banters with Otacon, who Big Boss never even heard of.
Additionally in the vs. Monkey mode from 3 you're supposed to be playing as Solid Snake despite the model being just Naked Snake with a yellow suit.
My guess is that's an in-between 2-4 depiction of Solid where he ages long enough to resemble Naked Snake perfectly, not too young and not too old either.

            >beard = le naked snake
Solid can grow a beard too and he's his fricking clone son, of course they'll look the same.

I'd just emulate MGS1 and Substance, but emulated 3 is in this weird spot where the controls are too specific in how analog they are to work on MKB or even modern controllers. The best fix you can get is remapping a shoulder trigger to the CQC button so you don't slit people's throats during a hold-up. This is fixed in the HD Edition where it just works like Peace Walker/GZ/MGSV with specific buttons doing certain things during a chokehold.

The problem is, the audio levels in HD 2 and 3 on PC are a fricking disaster. Something happened because of Konami incompetence and now background levels are way too high in cutscenes to the point it muffles out dialogue.

      >the controls are too specific in how analog they are to work on MKB or even modern controllers
wait, what's the difference between old and new controllers?

PS2 and 3 controllers had analog face buttons that are pressure sensitive. Outside of driving games, even GTA, rarely were these used to control the acceleration of your car. MGS2 used these to lower your weapon if you slowly released square vs. quick release which fired, but that's easily ignored/bypassed by just unequipping the weapon with R2. 3 has an entire mechanic you can't bypass with the chokehold interrogation because light pressing holds up the knife, and a firm press kills the target. The problem is without analog input, you just insta-slit throats. This effectively makes interrogating unusable without working around the input problem which can't be done on MKB.

The original games where on PS2 which used pressure sensitive buttons for certain actions. No other controller uses those and can't really be emulated well.

          did ps1 have this too?
and why doesn't ps4/5 and xbox controllers have this? seems like we downgraded and for what.

            Anonymous

            No, PS1 doesn't have it.

We moved to triggers for racing/shooting which have much better variable input, so manufacturers stopped bothering with analog face buttons because 99% of games didn't use them.

only controllers I'm aware of having them that were mainstream are the Dualshock 2+3 and the Xbox Duke believe or not. the feature was dropped because hardly anyone outside of racing games and niche uses actually took advantage of it. Kojima was the one who used it the most and had the most unique uses for it. Otherwise it was just controlling brake pressure and acceleration.

PS2 and ps3 controllers had them. I don't think many games took advantage of them besides racing games and some games like mgs2 and 3

Wouldn't have been enough to just move it to a time based input?

The conceptual idea was "you need to feel like you've got a life on the edge of a knife and one slip up can end them."

If you can emulate then just do that
If you want portable mgs 1-3 get the vita port and buy the first game in the vita store for $40 at most
If you only have a switch wait for a significant discount

After playing every mgs game i think they are kinda overrated, i mean splinter cell chaos theory had better stealth and overall vibe but isn't as famous as mgs, only 5 had decent sandboxy stealth but also had a shit story
In short i think mgs is more of a movie action game
