They are not. I get home, he runs up to me, meows, we play for a bit and then he fricks off to go sleep in the sun or on something warm. Then I wake up, he wakes up and the cycle repeats itself. However, they do like to cuddle a lot, my cat will sometimes randomly walk up to me and just sit on my lap or on my chest. When I sleep he sleeps on the pillow right beside me, or in winter he goes under the covers and sleeps by my feet.
