So is this the best way to play? I hear the soundtrack is shit, awakenings are worse, a character that was sissy is now just nice, and gameplay is too easy on the remake.
But I recall everyone shitting on The Answer relentlessly until now so I'm wondering if it's just recency bias?
>sissy
I meant sassy frick
People hated the answer back in ye old Ganker times too. If you wanted a straight dungeon crawl you would be playing actual SMT games and even if you already finished those the lack of a compendium sucked out any fun that was left not to mention you still had to deal with the shitty AI and tactics menu
be sure to grab the undub
Don't do this. Persona sounds way better in English.
shut the frick up
This, although the original dub is okay, unlike P4 where Golden is the only acceptable way to listen to Chie.
You're the first person on this site I've seen who prefers Golden's Chie
They completely fricked up the percussion
Idk original p4 chie sounded old and non energetic while golden fits the character
Persona 3 fes/p gameplay is mid
Answer is bad and not worth playing
I think reload is still a better version even with all its flaws
Every remake defender argument is placed on the assertion that the remake is another version of the game. That is incorrect, it is a different game wearing the skin of the original. This applies to every single og vs re argument.
I just began playing, and the two things that stick out to me are the animations and the soundtrack. The soundtrack gets smoked by the original, and the animations are too stiff, they don't feel fluid. Not to mention the entire awakening scene didn't hit quite the same, it didn't feel right that Yukari didn't even summon any power when using her evoker.
What flaws ? I see everyone say shit like that but no one pointing out anything meaningful (so not the music or cutscene that will be modded in a week).
It is the best way to play but the game is kind of boring. Maybe if you're a stoner it would be more engaging. The og has a strong vibe to it.
Just play FES. You can mod in party control or hd textures or widescreen or whatever you want. The amount of dumb takes people have produced tripping over themselves to justify not simply emulating a game that is by no means that difficult or too “dated” to play even without any mods is ridiculous. Now we have a whole second group tripping over themselves telling everyone to spend 70 bucks or sub to gamepass instead of spending 5 minutes setting up pcsx2 and grabbing an iso. It’s not some black book of satanic rituals it’s a normal game anyone can beat.
if you don't play persona 3 on a PS2 through a CRT you don't know SHIT about video games
The god intended way is on an emulator stretched to 16:9
Even if you don't like the answer or you don't feel like playing it (I personally don't like it) you can simply ignore it and just play the main story, and in that regard FES is the best iteration by far.
Fes is shit.
Play the original.
The Answer sucks.
And P3FES is in my top 5 games of all time.
You're literally better off watching the 4 hours of story content on youtube than playing that 40 hour bore.
The Answer's only actual real purpose is to explain why Aigis has an upgrade in Persona 4 Arena.
Also I have OCD and things HAVE to be "complete" for me so if I'm saying The Answer is completely skippable, you can trust it.
I love P3FES because of The Journey. The Answer is meh, and pretty tedious, but also easily ignored. There's a bunch of interesting gameplay ideas in P3/P3FES that people don't like so they just cut them all out of later games in the series. And everyone says that's just QoL but it completely changes the way the game plays and feels. Things like having AI party members, and taking a turn to recover from down.
The Hanged Man boss is completely based around your party doing the wrong thing.
It'll be a breeze with controllable party members.
>taking a turn to recover from down
I hate this and makes an already unforgiving early game even more unforgiving. You are simply just dead if you dont strike first or miss, which happens often, if your current Persona has a weakness.
Yep. Which is why it's a mistake you don't make twice. It's great, love it. And hate it. But it undeniably changes the entire strategy and feeling of the game compared to later entries.
>FES for tone, music, art and nostalgia
>P3P for better gameplay but significantly less tone or nostalgia
>P3R for gameplay and nostalgia that the shitty new voice actors and music ruin
There won't ever be a definitive Persons 3 apparently
Reload will be with mods. It will need time.
What the frick did they do to Master of Shadow?
what you heard was completely false. just play the remake, it's objectively better. You will be filtered by how awful Tartarus is in the original because you're a zoomer. Don't listen to other anons, P3 sucks and Reload makes it tolerable.
Hard mode in FES is actually pretty tough. You either need to grind of have a guide to help figure out boss weaknesses, then come up with a good strategy.
>But I recall everyone shitting on The Answer relentlessly until now so I'm wondering if it's just recency bias?
You can play The Journey and ignore The Answer if you like. The narrative is underrated, but being full on dungeon crawler with more limited persona options and the highest difficulty of any nu-sona including main game make it somewhat of a pain to play.
That and the difficulty is entirely uninteresting. Having every boss with <weakness> and Evade <weakness> does not interesting gameplay make.
To be honest, I'm not sure what people see in this game. I got memed into trying it and it's so slow paced and tedious. The only combat is bosses and tartarus and tartarus is the most low-effort dungeon I've seen in any jrpg. Nothing but endless random corridors, with the amazing twist that they turn gold once you make it halfway through. Wow. Between full moons it's mostly the same day doing the same things over and over, with only little social link scenes to break it up.
On top of all that the combat isn't even good, it's like dragon quest but worse. The characters are okay but the game feels like it would've been better off as a VN, except that would have exposed how basic it is. I can't fathom how it gets so much interest in this board that people consider playing it AGAIN in remade form.
Thank you. Ditto. I loved the shit out of Persona 4 Golden and figured I'd give P3 a try since everyone is always creaming over this game. I dropped it after a while, it was just boring as hell to me and way too slow. Didn't like any of the characters either. Everyone is just moody and b***hy and aloof. No, thanks.
The gameplay is about time and resource management, and preparing your Persona loadout, more than the actual combat.
>Idiot being meme'd into an outdated version of the game by Nintendo fans
Come the frick on, OP.
Nintendo shitposters abhor emulation though. Your narrative makes no sense.
"awakenings" wtf do you mean? You're just outing yourself as a Persona 5 gay holy shit. Please take a real gun, load it with bullets, and imitate the characters in this game.
the answer really isn't good. it's a grind and isnt that fun and the story of it sucks, although makine MC door-kun was interesting but I prefer the original game ending to be the final say of MC's fate
P3 Fes offers other improvements, such as social links, personas, diffeculty modes and others that make it the best version
downside is that you can't have direct control of every party member only MC, but you can give them inderect commands such as focus on using physical attacks, or magic, or support
also no female MC
but it does have the full anime cutscenes and explorable locations that are just menus in the P3Portable
I haven't played the remake, I'm sure there are improvements but I don't like the changes I've seen
