The better modders will make entire 'part sets' based on famous ships from media that can be configured however you want (probably looking a bit weird when not assembled in the intended order but mostly working alright).
The lazier ones will just make a single cosmetic 'part' that clips a giant model of the ship over the top of your actual ship like your ship is wearing a mascot suit.
Joss Whedon is the Fatshark/Crytek of TV. He may be a fricking moron but he struck fricking gold. Buffy, Angel and Firefly are all amazing and they ALL played out the way he didn't want them too, and they became widly succesful regardless.
i watched it for the first time this year and while not every episode is an instant classic (some are admittedly just okay, though i would say none of them were bad) it was still a good show and by the end i fully understood and one hundred percent agreed with the consensus that it was killed way too early. Serenity made it hurt a bit less but it doesn't fully satisfy the craving.
it still holds up for sure.
Why can't Bethesda design a city that's visually appeasing? Every single one of their cities in Fallout (and Starfield, from what it seems) is pure mudcore with puke-like "architecture" and NPCs. Why are they so unambitious and lazy?
almost no gameplay happens in the cities so they're effectively meaningless to both players and modders. most things the player can do that are fun, like flying ships and casting spells and shooting people, cannot happen in cities.
why do dumb people like you play video games your whole life but fail to understand simple aspects of their design such as this, asking the same repetitive questions that have been answered over and over?
I think you are the non white, your whole post reeks of spic-ism. Only a chicano would be unable or unwilling to to grace himself in anything but visual shit.
I loved Firefly when I first watched it 10+ years ago, but I'm afraid of revisiting it.
I never watched Firefly, but after the garbage Joss Whedon I have watched from him and his ideas of writing. I guarantee you it's actual dogshit that's lost any potential charm.
Black person what? Mike Pondsmith basically brought Cyberpunk to you unwashed masses who don't fricking read shit like Gibson.
You think anywhere near half of gamers today actually read shit beyond stupid ass Juvenile fiction (which is 90% sci-fi/fantasy)?
None of ya'll homies today could even handle shit like Amazing Stories magazine and that shit's old as frick.
Bu..bu.. my spaceships! Shut up. You don't know shit.
Fair enough. I think CDPR did a fine job, given the translation from a pen & paper game to a video game where countless losers will strawman quibble over a fricking hat, instead of just moving on.
In an ideal both, I would totally say both and we'd agree and dance kumbaya by the fire at night.
However it's not an ideal world, and games designed as proper FPV games have features that FP/TP games don't. From simple stuff like seeing your own body in FP to less simple stuff like detailed FP interactions with items and the like and last but not least, cutscenes.
I know next to nothing about Starfield. Is that a real screenshot? I don't want a space western game. I want science fiction, outerspace, spaceships, aliens, etcetera.
One of the characters start quipping about how much of sex machine he is, and how the evil doers aren't affected by the power of his dick, in Joss Whedon style.
>No Man’s 76
Procedurally generated fetch quests on a 1000 barren planets. Remember when these same morons were hyped for Fallout 76, why would they think a single player version of that shit would be better?
its normalgays and consolecasuals first space game
let them have their fun
also it keeps them away from actual good space games like Spengineers or Eve, in the same way that FFXIV keeps normalgays away from the good MMOs
i mean being real, thats literally it when it comes to space games, unless you get into unfinished cashgrab shit like Scam Shitizen and E:D, or you play autistic old shit like X3 or Aurora4x
>Scam Shitizen
Space yacht and space yacht jacking simulator, it definitely has a solid niche that other space games don't fill (its also a space wagie sim but nobody wants to admit they're into that)
Thats the problem with space games, not enough competition so con artists can get away with fricking murder. Most of them are cash grabs even if they're not as blatant as selling pngs of ships that don't exist. At the very minimum you get lazy devs telling lies about content they never intend to finish selling an eternally unfinished game that falls way short of its potential. You have to go back a decade to find games that are actually resembling complete.
>At the very minimum you get lazy devs telling lies about content they never intend to finish selling an eternally unfinished game that falls way short of its potential. You have to go back a decade to find games that are actually resembling complete.
Yep, exactly.
This is what all these newbies and casuals in these Starfield shill threads wont realize until release day.
Space Games are fricking plagued with half-assed cash-grabs and just like you said, if you want a title resembling having any sort of content you have to play something from 10 years ago or more.
Spaceengineers is not really a game, its a sandbox. Thats fine; but its something different.
Eve is a legit space game; i find it hard to play solo, but i had fun. (i dislike dealing with corp drama, and thats all mid level eve is)
B.B.B.B.BONUS
X4 is like a solo eve, and i enjoy that. The AI is pure dogshit though. Building space stations is fun.
Elite Dangerous had some early issues, started to get its stride, and then was completely abandoned. I dislike the ship models, and there is not a ton of them.
Starcitizen is mostly a scam, but it has a few decent gameplay loops. needs another 10 years in the oven and it might be goat.
>actual good space games like Spengineers
I got the itch to boot that up again, and then saw there's ten fricking DLC for it now and was instantly turned off.
Why, keen. Why.
For me it's the fact that there's no default solution for trains. Sure you can make hacked workarounds that sometimes function ok but the frick is a game about engineering without trains?
the DLCs dont really add that much except cosmetic stuff
install 100 of your favorite mods and have fun
i suggest at least the Shields mod, one of the weapons packs and some of the AI/NPC mods which basically turn the game into a better X3/X4
>the DLCs dont really add that much except cosmetic stuff
Oh, really? I saw names like "Warfare update" and "Industry overhaul" and assumed they had gameplay in them.
nah, when the DLCs came out that stuff was added in the updates that coincided with them, like what Paradox do with their DLCs
with 1 or 2 exceptions, the Space Engineers DLCs just add cosmetic items, 2 or 3 new planets (aka: biomes) and a few singleplayer campaigns if you want to play the story modes.
they go decently cheap on steam sales, i picked em all up a year or two ago on a sale for under $20 for the lot.
when you consider that Starfield doesnt even have a guarantee that it'll even be any good and it's $130 pre-order
I know what they mean, some people might have just wanted "fallout on a bunch of different planets" without the space combat. But it looks good to me anyway, more arcadey than too much sim shit is ideal for me.
then just fast travel from planet to planet like a pleb
I don't want to pilot a ship. What kind of shitty space setting has the captain manually piloting their vessel?

Let's laugh at him.
>literally just diamond city in space but some more greebles >muh space western (way too literally) >muddy ground that'd be out of place in a rural african village just so they can show off 2015 tier tesselation. >the rest of the game is gonna be like this
it'll be good with mods to make it STALKER in space but it's gonna be a shit game
Its 200 years since humans first left the solar system and arrived on other planets with nothing. I don't know how long the colony in OP has been there. There's also a city that look slike pic related, and a cyberpunk city that I know of.
Unless its a recent colony, or a bomb out city, or the planet is under a decade long blockade, there is no logical reason to have mud roads in the future. >there is no asphalt
Rocks exists, you can make a cobble stone road, or put some gravel and call the day. >why shouldn't a hard scifi settlement look like muddy shit?
Because it makes commerce difficult, accidents already happen in asphalt roads, imagine transporting kegs of beer on a fricking mud road, but I forgot, there are no vehicles, who needs trucks when you have space ships, am I right ?
Its Megaton all over again, style over substance.
Yeah I was going to reply, Bethesda cannot do wheeled vehicles so those roads are for foot traffic only in which case they make a little more sense

Akila has a fricking fully functioning spaceport with a large defensive wall and multiple concrete buildings but pouring out some asphalt or gravel and giving everyone a shovel for a day is apparently impossible in the future so our roads must look like a Siberian village

Have you ever worldbuilt before?
You're essentially the kind of dude who just draws in river where he think's they look pretty and then justifies it with "magic" or "god" whenever he's called out on it.
People pay good money for these games. They should be developed properly. Most so-called "AAA" games are outdone by a nerdy 13 yr. old making his first campaign setting.

It looks like they wanted to catch all possible sci fi fans and gave their designers specific tasks >people like cyberpunk, do a cyberpunk city >people like firefly, do a firefly city >people like star trek, do a futuristic Earth city
and all of world building will simply be adjusted retrospectively. with this approach the result will always be mediocre at best

They literally have the capability of maintaining landing pads for spaceships but no one in Akila citys ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FRICKING THREE year old history ever decided to anything to develop roads even in the middle of the fricking city. To contrast they were making paved roads in New York City barely 30 years after it was founded with 17th CENTURY TECHNOLOGY

You have seen one pic of one area, and you are arguing on the whole game based on that with no idea of anything else. Its 100 years since a war between colonies that had only been in existence for < 100 years previously, it it not all fully developed, its really not a big stretch.

homie what do you think the first mars colony will be like? They will have giant factories and nightclubs in 50 years? They will be living in fricking tents for decades.
Roads originate from need, usually trade travel and logistics. If you have a bunch of floating droids carrying everything small, transport hoverships carrying everything back, and normal travellers have modern ergonomic backpacks with sci-fi shit making them light, there is much less incentive to make roads.
In fact, so far - no cattle, no horses, no wheeled vehicles, no long-distance foot travel need. Why would they build roads?
It becomes more of an aesthetic thing or a luxury, and since it's a ramshackle space western outpost you aren't gonna see much of it
>there is no asphalt >Rocks exists, you can make a cobble stone road, or put some gravel and call the day.
Why would they need a stone/asphalt road if they aren't using cars or horses? >Because it makes commerce difficult
That entire city is like 2000 square feet and probably has a population of like ~50-100 people any "commerce" that occurs is going to be easily done on foot, and if it's trade with other planets it would be done with a ship.
I get it Bethesda is lazy but at least in this particular instance their laziness and common sense actually coincide.
Do you think they should have futuristic space hats? We been wearing the same kinds of hats for centuries. And guns are still the same basic principle.
no, they it is, is exactly how a "space western" usually looks and that's what they're going for. I personally don't like it and think that it's silly to have cowboy hats from 18th century America on other planets, thousands of years in the future

You fail to see that it's not an "aesthetic." Steampunk (or ANY "punk") follows the same shitty progression. Someone comes up with a cool concept and it gets widely admires, adopted. Becomes the de-facto standard for that... "gritty dystopian corporate future" or "gears and steam engines to power EVERYTHING" world or whatever/what-have-you. Big dumb entertainment corporations come along and adopt this shit and turn it into the SAME SHIT THAT NERDS WHO LOVE IT FRICKING HATE THE MOST.
Primarily, conformist popular shit. Think: >barb-wire tattoos, >truck nuts >emulsion foam as "food" in shitty 'high end" restaurants. >all the shit you see on the front page of Reddit
This is what this game is going to be. You can excuse it all you want, but you're consuming the absolute lowest-tier of entertainment. Meanwhile, people like Neal Stephenson have been shitting on these concepts for DECADES without accolades besides from his nerdy fans.
Stop buying into these shiny concepts. Sometimes, even literally. Remember the Bloom shader effect? picrel. It was fricking horrible. That era of gaming had every game trying to reproduce it and they always overdid it, to the point of nauseam.
Same thing here, just with the genre tropes, instead of the visuals, which is 100x's worse.

I did watch, however, I can give it a pass because it was right after a big war that decimate multiple planets, so the people who had ships were either merchants, army/government and criminals, and they also had reavers, which was wrench in the stability of systems.
Meanwhile in starfield, everyone and their mother will have space ships, the ability to jump between systems, and fuel will not be expensive or rare, traveling between systems will be like traveling from Washington to Berlin, mundane, world building is one of most important parts of a RPG, ignoring for the sake of spectacle is honestly, stupid, that is what I expect of Starfield, ideas without considering the long term repercussions of said ideas. >what do they eat ? >Where does the water comes from ? >Where they do their necessities ? >Is the water safe for consumption ? >where was that hat manufactured, locally or off world ?

It's a parody. If your doom scrolling-riddled brain had kept reading, you'd have seen it's mocking gun control karens.
Again, these are all developing worlds that have one main built-up area and scuffed surroundings. They have not yet got to the point of full planet civilization.
I hope it's not going to be the Skyrim map, but the space between Whiterun and Fakreath is space with space bandits, space random encounters, space caves and space flower picking.
The cities are on different planets. Don't really know what moronic idea of the game you have, but you will be flying between different planets and encountering things in space and on unpopulated worlds.
What do people think a space game is supposed to be? >Reach for the Stars >Mines of Titan >Wing Commander >TIE Fighter >Master of Orion >Battlecruiser 3000 >Star Wars: Rebellion >Homeworld
It's Fallout 4 2 with some janky NMS-esque mods. I literally work for Microsoft, and even I'm skeptical that it's going to be any good. I'll play it day one because it's on gamepass, and I get that for free, but in any other circumstance, I'd either pirate it or not bother in the first place. Bethesda hasn't made a single good game since Oblivion.
> bing bing wahoo is the standard for open world games
Listen here, tendie. There have always been games with fun and engaging game play. Bethesda games have never been one of those games. Bethesda games are for intellectuals who understand that there is more to life than having fun. They are NOT for manchildren like you.
Firefly the game
There's gonna be so many Firefly mods. I give it a week before Mal's coat and revolver are on the nexus.
who cares about revolvers. but I bet the modders will start charging for ships, DCS style
The way ships are built in game, I can't see it being possible to upload just any ship model as a replacement.
You'd just make one part that clips over the whole thing, and some parts with no mesh to hide the rest if necessary. Easy peasy.
>Creator: Joss Whedon
I loved Firefly when I first watched it 10+ years ago, but I'm afraid of revisiting it.
Joss Whedon is the Fatshark/Crytek of TV. He may be a fricking moron but he struck fricking gold. Buffy, Angel and Firefly are all amazing and they ALL played out the way he didn't want them too, and they became widly succesful regardless.
You've given me the courage to go for it. Worst case scenario, I get to see my girl again.
>they ALL played out the way he didn't want them too, and they became widly succesful regardless.
a fricking wot
It doesn't hold up, it's pretty bottom of the barrel trash.
i watched it for the first time this year and while not every episode is an instant classic (some are admittedly just okay, though i would say none of them were bad) it was still a good show and by the end i fully understood and one hundred percent agreed with the consensus that it was killed way too early. Serenity made it hurt a bit less but it doesn't fully satisfy the craving.
it still holds up for sure.
i finished the show and havent seen the movie. the fricking soul in firefly is palpable
Ive watched about 5 episodes for the first time last year. Its ok. I understand why people like it but i thought it was middling at best.
Why can't Bethesda design a city that's visually appeasing? Every single one of their cities in Fallout (and Starfield, from what it seems) is pure mudcore with puke-like "architecture" and NPCs. Why are they so unambitious and lazy?
almost no gameplay happens in the cities so they're effectively meaningless to both players and modders. most things the player can do that are fun, like flying ships and casting spells and shooting people, cannot happen in cities.
why do dumb people like you play video games your whole life but fail to understand simple aspects of their design such as this, asking the same repetitive questions that have been answered over and over?
truly it is a mystery. maybe you are non white.
>it's SUPPOSED to look like shit!!
guess what nobody fricking cares what the cities look like and starfield will sell 30 million copies in two years
want to bet money it won't? nobody seems to want to take me up. the last guy who bet disappeared.
I think you are the non white, your whole post reeks of spic-ism. Only a chicano would be unable or unwilling to to grace himself in anything but visual shit.
You would know brown boy
Why can't Bethesda design a city with more than five residential buildings?
KAYLEE FOLLOWER WHEN
I never watched Firefly, but after the garbage Joss Whedon I have watched from him and his ideas of writing. I guarantee you it's actual dogshit that's lost any potential charm.
it can also be cyberpunk in space
I hate how Cyberpunk will be forever ruined as a concept because of those thieves.
cyberpunk has been dead for ages
I was excited for Phantom Liberty until Starfield direct. Sorry pol(ish) chud.
Shut up. You don't know shit.
he's talking about CDPR
Fair enough. I think CDPR did a fine job, given the translation from a pen & paper game to a video game where countless losers will strawman quibble over a fricking hat, instead of just moving on.
>Mike Pondsmith basically brought Cyberpunk to you unwashed masses
and that's why it's ruined
>planets are shitty themed amusement parks
Christ this looks so lame.
Why is everything so homogenized now?
So it’s just Cyberpunk 2077 in a forest? I don’t get it
If Cyberpunk was third person and you could frick dark elves I would buy it right now.
No. Frick off. First person rocks.
Why not both
In an ideal both, I would totally say both and we'd agree and dance kumbaya by the fire at night.
However it's not an ideal world, and games designed as proper FPV games have features that FP/TP games don't. From simple stuff like seeing your own body in FP to less simple stuff like detailed FP interactions with items and the like and last but not least, cutscenes.
Turn-based trash doesn't compare
c.. cute frog
No it's just Divinity Original Sin in a... it's just Divinity Original Sin.
>space cowboys
>space Black folk
>space saloon
>space shotgun
>space cowboys
>space saloons
>space shotguns
i will now play your game, you can keep the Black folk tho
what's wrong with space Black folk?
They kill all the women, man.
just not a fan of spiggers
It's literally Oblivion with guns in space
Based oldgay
I get the feeling the main ingredient in that cake is period blood
o its like skyrim with guns?
Why's that guy sat in the mud when there's a step just over the road?
The mud is cool and forms to the curvature of his buttocks, its the perfect chair really
gate keeping is the hallmark of a functional society. he probably played bg3
What's wrong with Fallout in space
I know next to nothing about Starfield. Is that a real screenshot? I don't want a space western game. I want science fiction, outerspace, spaceships, aliens, etcetera.
That's just one planet that's western themed. And by planet I mean "small hub world" of course.
You want sterile NASApunk hard SF? Too bad! here space western. Frick you.
>What are varying factions and locations
>space cowboys vs space bandits
>also here's space institute from FO4
woooooooooow
this is just the aesthetic for that particular colony
post the other colonies
One of the characters start quipping about how much of sex machine he is, and how the evil doers aren't affected by the power of his dick, in Joss Whedon style.
Fallout without vats and Space Magic, so it's more like Skyrim with guns in Space.
>No Man’s 76
Procedurally generated fetch quests on a 1000 barren planets. Remember when these same morons were hyped for Fallout 76, why would they think a single player version of that shit would be better?
>Remember when these same morons were hyped for Fallout 76
absolutely nobody was ever hyped for fallout 76. the minute they said it was an online multiplayer game (the reveal day) there was 0 hype
fallout 76 also isnt made by bethesda. oh, btw, its also profitable, having made several hundred million dollars so far. i bet you hate that.
It's a game for explorers. You wouldn't get it.
>fallout in space?
You do get it.
you mean "oblivion with guns in space"
Yes its fallout in space. It seems you do get it actually
Supposedly it's closer to red dead redemption 2 in space
All hype for this game was personally posted by Todd
reddit meme coal ran into the ground by NMAgays
its normalgays and consolecasuals first space game
let them have their fun
also it keeps them away from actual good space games like Spengineers or Eve, in the same way that FFXIV keeps normalgays away from the good MMOs
My first space game was the first Elite on Commodore 64
>space minecraft and space israelite simulator are the pinnacles of the genre
What an unfortunate time to be a space sim fan
i mean being real, thats literally it when it comes to space games, unless you get into unfinished cashgrab shit like Scam Shitizen and E:D, or you play autistic old shit like X3 or Aurora4x
We will see about starfield.
I'd actually love a Larian-style game with the Cyberpunk Red setting and rules.
The multiplayer would be great
welp, meant for
>actual good space games like Spengineers
Oh, really? I saw names like "Warfare update" and "Industry overhaul" and assumed they had gameplay in them.
nah, when the DLCs came out that stuff was added in the updates that coincided with them, like what Paradox do with their DLCs
with 1 or 2 exceptions, the Space Engineers DLCs just add cosmetic items, 2 or 3 new planets (aka: biomes) and a few singleplayer campaigns if you want to play the story modes.
they go decently cheap on steam sales, i picked em all up a year or two ago on a sale for under $20 for the lot.
when you consider that Starfield doesnt even have a guarantee that it'll even be any good and it's $130 pre-order
name one other game like starfield
Fallout 4
No Mans Sky
nms sucks
fallout 4 is great and starfield looks even better
And that's A Good Thing
>just fallout in space
GOTY
It's literally just gonna be the same shooter looter bethesda gameplay with space travel
we already know exactly what starfield is
>kill
>loot
>return
>space travel
*space themed fast travel. you cant take off or land ships yourself lol
I wish they completely removed piloting the ship manually altogether. Easily the aspect of the game I'm least anticipating.
so because you don't get to land and take off they should have removed the entire flying in outerspace component?
I know what they mean, some people might have just wanted "fallout on a bunch of different planets" without the space combat. But it looks good to me anyway, more arcadey than too much sim shit is ideal for me.
then just fast travel from planet to planet like a pleb
the best ones
Did you read my whole post? I said I was ok with the space bits. But I can understand what the other anon was saying. Its really hard work sometimes with you morons on here.
I don't want to pilot a ship. What kind of shitty space setting has the captain manually piloting their vessel?
I wish they added fully manual landings with independent landing gear controls, variable gravity and wind conditions
>starfield is 100 bucks
>comes with a realistic spaceship controller
>game is literally unplayable with out it.
would be fricking based.
Shut the frick up moron.
And that's a good thing. A studio not knowing its strengths and weaknesses is how we get NMS
That's better than 99.9% of the bullshit that's released today. Todd did it again.
If you honestly believe this you desperately need to change the games you play. Fallout 4 is only better than poojeet/chink mobile scam games.
bethesda has been selling the same game for decades now
No, it's Oblivion with space guns.
>futuristic
>everything looks like it's made out of rusted tin in a dustbowl
>everyone wearing cowboy hats and leather
>enemy weapons consist of gunpowder weapons and lead pipes
???
Todd, you did it again, everyone gonna buy fallout 4 second time aaahhhhhhhhh
patrolling the space mojave almost makes you wish for a zeebleborp invasion
just because they got there doesn't mean they're rich, and it doesn't mean the planet they landed on has resources to be rich
Star Wars, the most popular sci fi setting probably ever, pioneered the idea of a retro-future and repurposing western aesthetic/tropes in space
It did something worse, it set a standard.
looks like what todd saw in his mind's eye while playing old space games in his youth so it's pretty based
if skyrim was the first "real" game you played you're hyped for this
>it's just the same game they've been making for over two decades with a new variant?
If you're so much of a zoomer can't comprehend a new IP coming into existence, I'm terrified for humanity. Not about the OP either, we all know he's an attention baiting homosexual, but this idea hit me hard. There are zoomers and whatever generation is below them who cannot understand something that isn't a remake or sequel getting huge amounts of money and development thrown at it.
>Starfield 2 will be done by Toddless Microsoft
Sad
>TES6 will be the last game Todd makes
>no more Todd at E3/game awards/whatever the frick they're using to show games off
>no more Todd posting
hold me bros... what will Ganker be without todd?
Is Todd retiring or something?
It's Skyrim in Space with guns
I'm so fricking tired of these generic ubishit graphics at this point holy frick
so far we have
>AssCreed
>Elden Ring
>Cyberpunk
>Baldur's gate
all THE SAME FRICKING GRAPHICS
STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
go play Orbo's odyssey then
>graphics
Dude over here talking about how a game LOOKS instead of tee shitty, generic gameplay you can reproduce in countless games since the beginning of gaming.
Let's laugh at him.
It’s gay homiez in space
I dare (You) to write a quest for Starfield
Objective: Find Todd
Secondary Objective: Kill Todd
>literally just diamond city in space but some more greebles
>muh space western (way too literally)
>muddy ground that'd be out of place in a rural african village just so they can show off 2015 tier tesselation.
>the rest of the game is gonna be like this
it'll be good with mods to make it STALKER in space but it's gonna be a shit game
Its the idea of a frontier town. Other places are more advanced, this is just one area.
>frontier town in the year 3000 looks like run down 19th century shit town
Wasn't this a hardcore sci-fi nasapunk game ?
Its 200 years since humans first left the solar system and arrived on other planets with nothing. I don't know how long the colony in OP has been there. There's also a city that look slike pic related, and a cyberpunk city that I know of.
why shouldn't a hard scifi settlement look like muddy shit?
Yeah I was going to reply, Bethesda cannot do wheeled vehicles so those roads are for foot traffic only in which case they make a little more sense
still, those buildings didn't magically spawned from the ground, and space ship didn't drops those pallets on the left, vehicles were used in this setting, and this is not Fallout anymore where they wave the proverbial post apocalypse get of jail card, this is space, with working machines, fuel depots. and factories.
When they first arrived on the planet there is nothing, no factories, no machines, no nothing except what they have on a ship. They would have to build everything from scratch using whatever resources the planets had.
How is it moronic? It is literally about 200 or so years since they founded any of these places, on planets with no factories or infrastructure and a few people? The cowboy town is a breakaway settlement that hasn't been there long.
>we are leaving to colonize another planet
>should we take our cowboy hats, cowboy attire and cowboy guns ?
>or buy some machinery to help use settle in our new world ?
Think for a fricking second, you dumb fricking moron, you inbreed piece of shit, think, use your brain, you are leaving to another world never to return, why the frick wouldn't invest in machinery to build your infrastructure ?
If it that easy why didn't they take bulldozers to the moon, maybe theres no fricking room moron
Is its a developing world, with one main city and some surrounding scuffed areas that are not fully built up yet.
Akila has a fricking fully functioning spaceport with a large defensive wall and multiple concrete buildings but pouring out some asphalt or gravel and giving everyone a shovel for a day is apparently impossible in the future so our roads must look like a Siberian village
You might as well say, "why isn't the entire planet covered in buildings and concrete?" They just haven't got round to it yet, its a snapshot in time of a developing world which has so far got one city. Some bit are mid-development, is this hard to get?
>You might as well say, "why isn't the entire planet covered in buildings and concrete?" They just haven't got round to it yet, its a snapshot in time of a developing world which has so far got one city. Some bit are mid-development, is this hard to get?
Have you ever worldbuilt before?
You're essentially the kind of dude who just draws in river where he think's they look pretty and then justifies it with "magic" or "god" whenever he's called out on it.
People pay good money for these games. They should be developed properly. Most so-called "AAA" games are outdone by a nerdy 13 yr. old making his first campaign setting.
It's fricking horrible, and it's getting worse. This game is testament to that.
I think you're moron son, I mean the city is mid-development, not the game.
>I think you're moron son, I mean the city is mid-development, not the game.
Yeah, I gathered that.
I like how you gave them a pass on this knowing about .0001% of knowledge about the gameworld.
Like I said. Crafting a memorable world should be an art form. People pay GOOD MONEY for your ideas. Creators should step up.
This shit looks like something a entry level level designer would come up with. It's completely cookie-cutter from the aesthetics to the gameplay, I'm almost willing to bet. And you people see nothing wrong with shelling out another $60 for yet another re-skin.
A re-skin of what? Point me to another game that is the same containing all of what starfield is?
>This shit looks like something a entry level level designer would come up with.
It looks like they wanted to catch all possible sci fi fans and gave their designers specific tasks
>people like cyberpunk, do a cyberpunk city
>people like firefly, do a firefly city
>people like star trek, do a futuristic Earth city
and all of world building will simply be adjusted retrospectively. with this approach the result will always be mediocre at best
Its 100 years since a war between colonies that had only been in existence for < 100 years previously, it it not all fully developed, its really not a big stretch.
>manage to achieve intergalactic travel
>arrive in planet
>we should build a settlement
>but instead of using vehicles, let's carry everything by hand
>no, even better, we should relegalize slavery and force others to do that
>best idea eveeeeeer
There, makes perfect sense doesn't it?
>>no, even better, we should relegalize slavery and force others to do that
No way the FC are based enough to be slavers
>intergalactic
homie what do you think the first mars colony will be like? They will have giant factories and nightclubs in 50 years? They will be living in fricking tents for decades.
Economist here, you are dumb.
Roads are maintained by governments.
A new, mostly lawless shithole will not have the governmental resources to construct and maintain roads.
It becomes more of an aesthetic thing or a luxury, and since it's a ramshackle space western outpost you aren't gonna see much of it
*hoverships carrying everything big
>there is no asphalt
>Rocks exists, you can make a cobble stone road, or put some gravel and call the day.
I get it Bethesda is lazy but at least in this particular instance their laziness and common sense actually coincide.
>cowboy hat
>wooden stock on a gun
no, this is just the same old "space western" aesthetic and has no ground in reality
Do you think they should have futuristic space hats? We been wearing the same kinds of hats for centuries. And guns are still the same basic principle.
no, they it is, is exactly how a "space western" usually looks and that's what they're going for. I personally don't like it and think that it's silly to have cowboy hats from 18th century America on other planets, thousands of years in the future
>they it is
*the way it is
you think people won't wear baseball caps in 500 years?
i guarantee you, if there are people, they will be wearing baseball caps in 500 years
NO IT'S SCIFI SO PEOPLE GOTTA BE WEARING SCIFI CLOTHES
Because...?
They haven't even been wearing them for 200 years.
I bet there was some knowitall midwit back in the day saying everyone would still be wearing top hats in the 2000s
Because it's harder to make a tophat than a baseball cap.
End result of consumerism is mass produced goods. Creativity is not cost effective.
yeah and its harder to make a baseball cap than a yarmulke. So what
what makes you think humanity always goes for simplicity or looking not-moronic
read some history homie, we're in a plainslop era. In most points in history men strove to be the fanciest and most moronic of their peers
because it's the simplest variety of headwear that doesn't look moronic and shades your face
a top hat is the exact opposite: pompous, requires maintenance, ruined by rain, can't work in it, etc
a baseball hat will survive *precisely* because it is a baseball hat. I fricking bet you 500 years from now anon
I'll take that bet. We'll see who gets the last laugh, cappy
>because it's the simplest variety of headwear that doesn't look moronic and shades your face
Mankind's idea of what looks moronic changes radically every decade, anon.
If you wanted to bet on future headwear the smart choice would be one of those rice farmer hats, those frickers are dead simple and people have been wearing them for literal ages.
literally like 5x harder to make than a baseball cap, requires woven material instead of mass-producable panels stitched together
zoomesr suck dick at arguing.
He's right though, everyone in the future will be wearing 3D printed coolie hats. Baseball caps will be seen as a symbol of white supremacy. Nobody will know what that is since there will be no whites left but they'll instinctively fear it.
>requires woven material instead of mass-producable panels stitched together
homie you could cast them out of a single plastic mold, they're infinitely easier to mass produce than anything that needs stitching.
They're fricking cowboy, its frickign americans in space, not chinks motherfricker, they're wearing american hats deal with it!
That wasn't what was being argued you tard.
Also wait, is it actually Americans in space? Given that this game has fricking they/them pronouns in chargen I assumed this was some UN every color of the rainbow bullshit space colonization.
It's either America or Africa
The whole thing started because some tard objected to cowboy hats, on space cowboys, no they are not wearing rice farmer hats, they are cowboy hats. Cowboy hats where being worn 200 years ago, and they are worn today, so why not in anotehr 200 years?
people dont want to wear frickin injection molded plastic hats
They will when it's either wear the plastic hat or have you face and scalp roasted to bacon by Alpha centauri or slowly melted off by the acid rain outside the lithium mine wagecage.
Colonizing new planets will require people to be relegated to neo-serfdom. No fancy stitched hats or natural fibers for you, wagie - wear the plastic cooliecap.
Frick off Elon
No.
Go clear the rocks clogging drill platform #37 or you wont even get to eat the bugs.
you will eat the bugs, you will live in the pods, you will wear the injection molded chink hat
do you think space will be a place of personal freedom? quite the contrary, its a place where resources are so limited and death is so near, the basic model of survival will resemble a nazi submarine crew. Even outlaws will be like this with the added benefit of blowing any troublemakers out the airlock.
A libertarian hippie commune in space cannot operate a spacecraft like in your shitty joss whedon show
I'm still wearing my Phrygian cap
Its not all the game, its one area. Its not thousands of years in the future, its 2300
>Do you think they should have futuristic space hats?
Oh boy... here we go...
>the way it is, exactly how a "space western" usually looks ...
This
>We been wearing the same kinds of hats for centuries. And guns are still the same basic principle
*sigh*
>you think people won't wear baseball caps in 500 years?
*sigh* x 10
>Its not all the game, its one area. Its not thousands of years in the future, its 2300
*rage now*
You fail to see that it's not an "aesthetic." Steampunk (or ANY "punk") follows the same shitty progression.
Think:
>barb-wire tattoos,
>truck nuts
>emulsion foam as "food" in shitty 'high end" restaurants.
>all the shit you see on the front page of Reddit
Its just a fricking fun space game with some of the people in cowboy hats nerd
>Its just a fricking fun space game with some of the people in cowboy hats nerd
No. The hats are what these morons are using to evade the actual conversation of how this game is going to bring something genuinely new to the table.
(hint: it won't)
Now, ask me why so we can get this over with.
I don't give a shit nerd, I'm gonna play it and enjoy it and you can't stop me
>the rest of the game is gonna be like this
>main city of UN analog United Colonies is hyper futuristic metropolis
>UC revealed in recent in universe timeline to be unironically hyper aggressive expansionists
The game is based and you are an NPC
>he calls others an NPC while salivating for [new trailer] for [current game]
Seems I triggered you, ponder your true nature young NPC.
this picture is giving me ptsd and buyers remorse for a game i haven't even ought yet
I just want Hardwar 2.
>So it's just fallout in space?
Yeah.
So it'll have mods.
So it'll have mods similar to Fallout 4.
So it will have a mod similar to Fallout Vore.
So I can make a cute space cultist and eat people in honour of the celestial serpent that will consume the galaxy.
Glad I'm not the only one
Fallout 4 was one of the worst games of 2015 and I expect this to be far worse
*best
fify
You must like watching 50 patches of paint dry one after the other
I must like a fun game with a decent world to explore, decent combat, decent base-building, decent weapon customization; everything it does is good enough to make the complete package a success.
I thought this was literally a vanilla FO4 screenshot, what the frick
FO4 is more colorful
I thought it looked good until I saw the ground and the wooden walkway
Is this what games look like in 2023 or is this just Bethslop?
>this homie complaining about hats
holy shit you really have nothing do you
Todd Howard makes shitty games and this game will be shitty. So far I've seen no exceptions to that rule.
mods will fix it
And you will play it anyways. All of Ganker will seethe for a week then play it for decades if only just to mod it at least.
The last toddslop game I've played was Oblivion. I didn't even finish it. No, I will not play this game. I have not played Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and this game won't be an exception. Todd is a hack.
>I have not played Skyrim
You have to be 18 to post here.
>thinking playing a game from 2011 makes you an oldgay
Grim state on this board, man
anon there are kids on this site that think posting pepes they learned about from the 2016 election makes them an ancientgay/originalgay and that "anime trannies" need to frick off
Ganker's been full of normalgays since at least 2012
>Todd Howard makes shitty games
Wrong.
Games normalgays like != good games
How does that image disprove what I said?
>Fallout 4 recieved game of the year at the 2016 D.I.C.E. awards
Lol
Lmao even
>make fun of it until the mods are good
>acquire the gold edition at a discount and mod the shit out of it
>still make fun of it
>also make fun of the next Betheslop
time honored tradition
>buy starfield about two months after release
>download ported HDT CBBE, bodyslide, tao's catsuits
now it's gamer time
>buy
Nice try Todd
frick yeah
going to make my female crewmembers all wear barbarella's spacesuit too
Oblivion with guns in space
I wish it was Fallout in Space. Fallout in the future when they discover space travel would be kino. Much more interesting than Starfields bland world.
I fricking hate Sony for making us lsoe Starfield. They have to go and try their whole exclusive bullshit and no we don't have Starfield.
huh? I've got starfield
Shut up
Will Starfield have a chance to dethrone Mass Effect 2 as the best sci-fi game ever?
ME as a series is more a space opera. I actually agree with Todd and his whole Nasapunk idea. From what I've seen and heard about Starfield it looks closer to humans in space than ME.
Bravo, Toddles. Bravo. NOW RELEASE IT ON PS5 AAAAAAAAAA
Not really the same kind of game THO
i mean from the gameplay footage we've seen Starfield literally just looks like a worse Mass Effect game
at least ME's gunplay feels good, Starfield looks clunky, slow and shitty at best
ME's gameplay revolves entirely around fast and brutal combat gameplay in enclosed levels, so it better be good indeed. Again, both games aren't aiming for the same experience.
from what we've seen of Starfield its the exact same game
you can "fly" around "space" but its essentially just fast travel between tight corridor dungeons
>from what we've seen of Starfield its the exact same game
You must be legally blind then.
we've all literally seen the same gunfight clip anon
try not having brain damage and next time ask permission before posting
Try watching the whole starfield direct
Yes, and it's not "the exact same game" as ME.
>we've all literally seen the same gunfight clip
You referring to the one of a year old build?
What we saw of starfield is really elder scrolls in space. It has little to do with the chest-high-obstacle hugging, third person, MMO cooldown spamming combat of Mass Effect.
it's another space colony = spaghetti western episode
Thank god this game comes out soon and they can go back to working on Elder Scrolls 6
Yeah, can't wait to see modern Bethesda brutalize the lore and make yet another province boring as shit.
>it's Red Dead in space
no it actually is. Todd literally said so himself. just without good writing or memorable characters because Bethesda.
Where you gonna go space cowboy?
All of them obviously also weird Cydonia didn't get its own video as well
why do they all look so tiny for "cities"
Only that one particular section of that planet, loser.
>wild west shantytowns
Honestly, why do that when you have Fallout? Seems like needless franchise overlap.
Starfield should be like vivid, bright sci-fi locations, just to set it apart from all of Bethesda's other shit
Why be moronic and base your entire opinion on one pic?
Not that anon, but the space cowboy trope doesn't work you when you have FTL drives that allow you to jump between systems in a few days, its a moron trope.
So did you just not watch Firefly, or what?
Does everything have to be firefly?
No, but you said
>the space cowboy trope doesn't work you when you have FTL drives that allow you to jump between systems in a few days
And Firefly is a very, very famous example of exactly that working.
Firefly is kitschy and kind of stupid.
>teeheehee our starship crew are talking like a bunch of Southern hicks
Okay... You're a visionary genius, Joss Whedon. We get it...
It's fine if you don't like it, just admit your point about space cowboys and FTL was fricking stupid.
It is pretty unlikely that people are suddenly just going to start playing dress up as cowboys, in a world where a space ship is about as rare a commodity as a good horse. Whole other cultures would take form around that kind of a thing.
Not the point you made, or the one I argued against.
But sure, it's not super realistic.
I’d believe it
Space cowboys are cool STFU
you ever been to wyoming, texas or nevada? plenty of people still dress unironically as cowboys
But, no, I'm the fricking nerd who cares for this shit.
There was also a war in starfield
Do you feel silly yet nerd
https://starfieldwiki.net/wiki/Starfield:Timeline
>there was a war
>but everyone and their mother has some type of a space ship
>distance ? in few hours in you can jump 10 systems
>fuel ? its everywhere
Unless that planet is space Kosovo, there is no reason for that road shouldn't be paved, this is style over substance, and I don't mind style over substance, but Todd called this game nasapunk, which implies some sort of care behind the world building.
>trucks and planes can go anywhere on earth
>so why is there anywhere that stil has dirt tracks or roads with potholes?
So tell me why is kosovo not all fully paved, if that is the case? There are areas with no roads? How come? Everyone and they're mother has some kind of vehicle?
Sorry, I should have used a modern term, Space Ukraine.
Wtf why isn't this road paved? This is terrible world-building
the equivalent location of a starfield planet is outside the map borders
it is paved, its called gravel, did you know that gravel comes in different shapes, colors and sizes.
Still looks like an undeveloped shithole
now we're ready for space
Needs a sci-fi building behind the house.
>*Yeahaw's in Bosnian.*
you forgot to give the soldiers the blocky laser guns
now were ready for starkino
You forgot to clip one of the soldiers through the fence
Mine's better. Want to play it?
>we fainly outlawed guns in america
stopped reading there
It's a parody. If your doom scrolling-riddled brain had kept reading, you'd have seen it's mocking gun control karens.
Again, these are all developing worlds that have one main built-up area and scuffed surroundings. They have not yet got to the point of full planet civilization.
It's still in the game.
I hope it's not going to be the Skyrim map, but the space between Whiterun and Fakreath is space with space bandits, space random encounters, space caves and space flower picking.
I mean, this is Bethesda we're talking about
The cities are on different planets. Don't really know what moronic idea of the game you have, but you will be flying between different planets and encountering things in space and on unpopulated worlds.
>So you're just walking around in space? I don't get it
What do people think a space game is supposed to be?
>Reach for the Stars
>Mines of Titan
>Wing Commander
>TIE Fighter
>Master of Orion
>Battlecruiser 3000
>Star Wars: Rebellion
>Homeworld
Good
How many cities so far?
Four, as well as multiple smaller towns and space stations/star yards
holy KEK
I thought it was modded Fallout 4 with reshade
cant wait for the laugh at Todd gays threads
So is every place in this just completely open air? Where are the huge enclosed environments like Total Recall?
Space.
>removed first person
dropped
>So it's just fallout in space? I don't get it
That's a good thing. I wouldn't have wanted Skyrim in space
It's TES Adventures: Redguard in space
Is oblivion with guns and space
that's literally a modded diamond city, todd is a hack
>revolver in the UI
>no weapon at all on the character
Again? What the frick is wrong with them.
>can't even build your own roads
That's a nice last-gen game you have there
>bad title screen
>cowboy hats
>no roads
This game is FRICKED
>Oblivion with guns
>Oblivion with cowboy guns
>Oblivion with magic removed
>Oblivion with guns 2
>Oblivion with guns 3: In space
So it's a full-priced non-canon Fallout 4 expansion pack and that's a bad thing?
>I don't get it
That's sad.
Wil it haev base building?
Yeah you'll be able to pitch a few tents and a campfire
Bethesda should give up on role-playing games and go back to doing sports games.
Crack open a tin of spacebeans
*tube
It's Fallout 4 2 with some janky NMS-esque mods. I literally work for Microsoft, and even I'm skeptical that it's going to be any good. I'll play it day one because it's on gamepass, and I get that for free, but in any other circumstance, I'd either pirate it or not bother in the first place. Bethesda hasn't made a single good game since Oblivion.
It's Bravestarr time boys!
>So it's just fallout in space?
sounds great
*fallout 4 in space
Does the game have working ladders?
pic related is the minimum quality we expect from open world games from now on
Not very high now is it?
literally the best open world game ever
You have to be 18+ to post here.
I'm 30 tho
I'm sorry (for you).
> bing bing wahoo is the standard for open world games
Listen here, tendie. There have always been games with fun and engaging game play. Bethesda games have never been one of those games. Bethesda games are for intellectuals who understand that there is more to life than having fun. They are NOT for manchildren like you.
>boomers playing zoomie games
>zoomies playing boomer games
