So, I've been FFXIV quite a bit, and I would like some comparison to other MMOs I haven't played.

So, I've been FFXIV quite a bit, and I would like some comparison to other MMOs I haven't played.

Aside from it, I have played WoW and EVE, and very small amounts of other games.

What I like from xiv is the cosmetic character customization options and being able to classes classes immediately. What I dont like is the idiotic restrictions it has for the fashion system (WoW has a better fashion system, wasted on a game with such horrid costume design), and how there's barely any player interaction even on instances with other players. You just do your rotation, avoid the ground aoes and barely care what the other players are doing.

Still, it's the game I have enjoyed the most, because I really enjoy catgirl dressup.
In WoW I could never play more than two consecutive months. I liked the leveling up experience, but it is over very soon. You outlevel areas before you finish their questlines. And then you have le endgame, I never got into it, I live in the south cone, so I have too much lag, also I heard it is too frustrating.
In EVE the leveling part never ends, but the constant possibility of someone blowing your ship makes me too anxious. Also no cute avatar (I know it has avatars, but you dont play as them).

So I'm wondering what other games might offer something similar to what ffxiv has, but maybe with better execution. I wrote this long to filter out the zoomies, they'd probably recommend some gacha carp.

Shes played PSO and Ark and both she got bored of. Shes been playing a lot of genshin (i know its not the same type of game) which shes been enjoying i think similarly you might enjoy.

That's the main appeal of FFXIV bro. The dress-up. Ton of Second Life refugees hopped ship as well which is why the modding scene is so fricking disgusting with freakish mod beasts everywhere. Fact of the matter is that you're sticking around for either
      >The (e)RP and dress-up doll scene
      >AND raiding
Most of the autistic raiders who stick around also (e)RP. Not even an exaggeration. I think they need to justify the huge amounts of downtime in the game with sweet frick all to do so they fall into the typefricking rabbithole. Poor c**ts.

Because you don't like progression, you just want to dress up, you don't like being paywalled either, so MMOs with gacha are out, and most mmos don't have generic catgirls (maybe the occasional cat ears accessories).

Warframe has a ton of content, lots of great designs, can ignore party play(except for trading which is admittedly a huge chunk of the game), and a choose-your-own-adventure gameplay style.

If you can break past the terrible early game then it's a haven for people that like dressing up and collecting things

Np! I think warframe is great because there are so many diverse gameplay styles

        >Excal turns the game into MGR-lite
        >Titania makes every mission into a space shooter
        >Nekros is like an RTS where you raise the dead and control them against the enemy
        >Protea is designed after the TF2 engineer with turrets and a dispenser
        >Khora is a BDSM experience
        >Nidus is like Plague Inc but in quantity instead of reach
If there's a kind of theme, elemental alignment, or idea you want to embody, warframe probably has the tools for it. Pacifist monk, gunslinger, healing angel, primal wolf lady, fat devourer guy, the Flash, whatever you want

Here's my advice: go back to the Xbox 360 generation of games and play the winners from that time. Dragon's Dogma, Mass Effect, the list goes on. The contemporary trends and state of the game industry is what happens when we have reached a position of mass consumption and lowest common denominator "best practices" to oversimplify your game experience into a narrative shell or social simulator.

There's good reason these games from the PS3 era are all getting remakes and remasters— not just because that's a quick way to turn a profit, but because games were better then.

Play FFXIV socially for roleplay like me and then go back to playing good games when you want something meaningful or with any depth that doesn't demand obscene cutscene durations of stock animations and emotes. FFXIV's best quests are job quests anyway.

Pic related, I give a hoot.
