I'd say more defined progression since Minecraft's is mostly just getting more materials to add on to your base so you have an easier time getting more materials in endless expansion until your base is 18 different enormous spaghetti contraptions that just work while Terraria's can be measured with townspeople and equipment tiers and bosses and your base is not 18 spaghetti contraptions and is instead 8 different workbenches + buff stations
the entire mining part of the game is unbelievably boring, the movement is clunky for the majority of the game. that being said I have to agree that there are some great things about the game

Oh so every above ground biome in Minecraft gets it's own set of furniture based on the building materials available within it? Be real, we're lucky if the Minecraft devs release a new kind of tree within a year of development, and we don't even have actual furniture to decorate our houses with yet. They've added all those kind of foods to Minecraft but they don't even do anything special, they all just fill your stupid hunger bar. And tell me why they've never ever bothered to allow more customization options for your gear? Would it be so hard to let us at least doodle on our armor to make it look a little cooler?? But yeah man Minecraft is so much better than terraria bro, with all of those fun unique bosses (like 3) and all those different weapons to experiment and play with! >Swords and bows. frick off. At least in terraria there are reasons to explore your world, interesting biome specific enemies, drops, building materials and loot. Nearly every biome has its own dedicated boss you can fight, not to mention how all of that is essentially doubled when you include fishing and underground exploration

the fishing rod is a grapple which lets you reel in enemies (and dropped items) from a distance (it also lets you pull them up to exploit fall damage) and the stone axe (and higher tiers) is the weapon with the highest damage per strike you can get until diamond

Oh yeah I forgot the fishing rod actually had that effect, it's honestly a shame Minecraft doesn't make any effort to make it's combat a little more interesting and varied, for instance, imagine shield poking with spears, dashing around opponents while wielding a rapier, or maybe actually implementing a proper magic system. I'm so annoyed because I know Minecraft could be so much better, and I know they have the resources to do it. But they DONT.

I would prefer if minecraft kept the focus on weaponized tools instead of dedicated weaponry while improving the core combat mechanics, Steve's more of a builder, farmer, and miner than a fighter after all it still kind of sucks that you can't enchant a stick into a wand

Going on that premise alone would be cool too, the pick could deal with heavy armor, the scythe/hoe could be used to get behind shields or swipe weapons, and the axe I suppose could just do better damage than a sword, but take longer to swing. But the problem is they don't put any real effort or passion in anymore. They've already made the biggest selling Game of all time and don't care to touch it up at all.

Terraria are whole different games, they don't really compete with one another. Yes they are sandbox games with building mechanics and biomes, but that's where the similarities end

The one thing that Terraria does absolutely better than Minecraft, is bosses, simply by having a few with some variety.
Minecraft has the Ender Dragon, the Wither, and that's it I think.
While Terraria has at least a dozen, though a few are just upgraded versions of previous bosses.
I'm really worried because yeah, terraria has some pretty goofy stuff but an entire sundae and meowmere biome is something Starbound would do to be quirky.
As a dungeon crawler and boss fighter, yeah absolutely. But, I'll always prefer building and creative projects more in 3d environments. Being able to walk around my castles in first person is inherently more enjoyable for me and looking at a cross section of a series of cubes where I have to make space for each and every npc I want ruins that part of the game for me.
In fact, I'm kind of surprised minecraft and terraria are compared as much as they are. They're similar in very superficial ways, but the actual gameplay loops are extremely different.
