For me, it's diablo 3. It may not be the best game in the genre but gameplay is fun and you can enjoy it without wasting time or money.

It wasn't a fricking mmo. It had smoother and more enjoyable gameplay. It had some connection to daiblo, even though it was fricking cheesy in places.
In its current state diablo 3 is just as fun as diablo 1 or 2 was.

I'm asking how Diablo 3 is worse than Diablo 4. I disagree with the gameplay being smoother, unless you mean "smooth-brained." It was mind-numbingly dull. D4 beta on the higher of the 2 difficulties at least provides semblance of engagement, with the dodge actively aiding in avoiding damage, unlike the wonky ass dodge that was added to D3 for no reason.
Demon Hunter already had a dodge. I'm glad you like your stiff over animated combat though. Good for you.
Diablo 4 is inferior to D3 for the single fact that you need to give more money to bliizzard which isn't happening again in this timeline

A few patches into Reaper of Souls and Diablo 3 turned into and still is the best ARPG on the market, PoE is pretty solid too.

after leveling and pushing grifts with every class, then with every set, then with wacky sets and wacky gems, there is literally nothing left to do
I've played all the seasons so far and done what I mentioned, I cant even boot it up because Ive done absolutely everything there is to do
the game is good for the first 100-200 hours
this doesnt happen to me with II, I can still go back and play any class even with thousands of hours and it will be just as fun
the community is also shit
for some reason, only the most addicted, soulless people played d3 after ros launch, you can literally not get a single human interaction if you played for 50 hours straight in community games
