Clicking A in front of rocks in Platinum sure didn’t feel like it made the game richer. Felt more like the game was trying to poorly mask the fact that it had no gameplay except being a walking simulator.

In no universe is this better than HM slaves, which are objectively shittier than pressing a button to activate Sneasler and climb up a wall or whatever. At best you could argue that having access to your box anywhere eases having to carry them in your party, but that's still just extra menu time that can be handled by a ride equivalent being context sensitive. >but it's not my Poke-

HMs are just regular moves now. Field moves are the Herba Mysticas, you get increased mobility for your ridemon by acquiring them. Why do you think Herba Mysticas use the acronym "HM"?
HMs are unnecessary because this game is meant to be open world, if anything youd be crying "noo they lied about the open world aspect cus rocks and shit blocking the path!!!!" If they actually put HMs in.

Field moves are just glorified keys and you just end up putting them all on HM Slaves you take out exclusively for dungeons.
I don't use HM slaves unless necessary like a surf slave for a mono type team
