So this game sucked, but I really liked the concept of a grand strategy criminal empire game.

I don't know about doing it well, but picrel is worth a pirate, you can get a few hours out of it depending on how much you commit to the rp.
    I give it 5/10

It's amazing how both of these games fricked up so god damn hard. Specially Empire of Sin.

How did Empire of Sin end up fricking it up?

it has a Black person and a foid on the cover. These two things only cleaned the shoes of real gangsters back in the day.

Where to even start is the better question. Just everything about the game and it's development makes zero sense and that's besides the /misc/ seething. The game was so shit they upright changed it 4 times and cancelled the promissed 4 exspanstions after the first and only one. I guess notable things that never changed.

        >Rival gangs can endless send hordes of gangster at you from every angel while you can only ever have 1 squad.
        >You can only hire from a set list of pre-determined gangsters while rival gangs can again, spawn and hire endless hordes of generic gangsters.
        >XP is gained automatically and not from combat or actions, meaning you can just sit there and wait for them to level up.
        >Only 2 of the classes actually matter and the rest are literal shit.
        >Mob bosses are insanley OP.
        >Cops do absolutely nothing and even on the hardest of difficultes rarely, if at all do anything.
        >Side missions and stories can lock you out of content and some are absolutely needed to progress even though the game is supposed to be a sandbox.
        >Diplomacy doesn't make any sense and frankly it's just way easier to just kill everyone anyway.
        >The different types of booze doesn't matter at all.
        >Casinos are so OP and don't require booze that you could potentially just have an entire empire of casinos.
        >The expansion adds loan shark offices which are even more OP.

And the amount of bugs from launch to abandonment. I actually got invited to be part of their "secret family" that where supposed to test the new patches out and they gave me free copies of the game. As you can guess it was a shit show and eventually they just left everyone in the dark. Real shame too cause Empire of Sin had everything going for it.

Just to be fair, you can say this about nearly every strategy game with AI diplomacy.

Let’s just say they planned for two DLCs and they cancelled the second one because of how bad the player count was. The empire of sin discord is also a complete ghost town. Lastly, the developers have left paradox so…

        EoS is dead dead.

Empire of sin is shit ans city of gangsters is poop.

CoG they've just never actually improved or changed the core. It's pretty much a overly complicated logistics sim that is turn based. There is way to much stuff to buy and keep track off to make booze, combat is ass and the business part is confusing. It also looks really bland so nothing is memorable.

What about Gangsters: Organized Crime? I'd been meaning to try in for months now

That one's still considered the peak of Gangster gangs. Which is really sad to think of.

It's an RTS, and not very realistic, considering what kind of bloodbath you're going to start. Or maybe that's just Gangsters 2: Vendetta.

That was 2. The first one had the grid map where you assigned gangsters to do work.

Omerta is the least sucking modern game about Prohibition-era gangsters. It's by Kapypso, so it should tell you how bad the whole genre is if their game is the best out there.
Other than that, you have Gangsters: Organized Crime, but that game is downright ancient at this point (good chance it's older than you) and it's super-repetitive after 5-6 plays

I hated the combat sections in Omerta
