Overwatch is basically the only game I've seen that handles smurfs properly - if you're a smurf on a new account it will absolutely throw you into high diamond/low masters rank after 2-3 games.
It's such a effective system people will pay decent money for long-standing accounts that are in bronze/silver tiers, because those won't have smurf protection enabled and will take dozens of games to grind through the lower ranks instead of catapulting up through the ranks due to skill.
That's not an excuse to allow top 100 players in the world to stomp bronze lobbies when the game has matchmaking.
you want to do that shit in a server based game go for it, but the entire point of sbmm is to prevent that kind of shit.

It's far easier to see just how much better Michael Jordan is than a highschooler than it is to see just how much better one DotA player is than another, especially when there's literally no audience and all evaluation is done automatically by a computer.
You can pretty much instantly spot a very high skilled dota player compared to an unskilled player. Character movement, ability to block/stall creeps, ward placement, last hitting / denying, etc etc. Pros and high skill players do all of that in a way that normal or even good players don't.
YOU can spot a very high skilled player, but can matchmaking? What exactly is it evaluating players on? If it's just win rate then it would take a long time for Michael Jordon's MMR to rise above high schoolers.

Their system is awful. You can get reported by anyone for anything. All it takes is one person to get the ball rolling, and you can get screwed really bad. For example, Valve advertises their sh*t handheld piece of crap and the new controller config for Dota 2. You decide to try it, because you want to play Dota 2 from your bed. You get in game, and without much surprise, playing with thumbsticks is not the most efficient way to play the game. Your teammates notice you're moving slowly/weirdly in-game and start accusing you of "throwing the game" or even being a bot. Then, they mass report you and ask the enemy team to do so as well. You can't defend yourself because it's hard to type on Deck with no keyboard. You end up with 9 reports in one game. Then, your behavior score gets lower and your queue times multiplied by 100. If it took you less than a minute to find a match, it will take you at least twenty now and usually between one hour to two hours. Then, once you're in-game, you will be matched with the lowest of the low. Real grifters who either have poor internet, who are very toxic, or in most cases both. Once you're there, your chances of getting out are minimal because everyone is dragging you down even if you try your best. And the slow matchmaking queues make it impossible to play many games in succession to raise the behavior score faster (implying your teammates decide to not be toxic for a bit).

The biggest problem with behavior score is that it doesn't matter if the report against you is or isn't legtimate, it still counts. So even if you be a good little cuck and keep completely quiet in your games if you lose you'll catch reports from salty teammates.

The ban lengths from then on will only keep increasing. Saw some people have 6 months and longer than year bans (not smurfing/cheating)

Overwatch is basically the only game I've seen that handles smurfs properly - if you're a smurf on a new account it will absolutely throw you into high diamond/low masters rank after 2-3 games.
It's such a effective system people will pay decent money for long-standing accounts that are in bronze/silver tiers, because those won't have smurf protection enabled and will take dozens of games to grind through the lower ranks instead of catapulting up through the ranks due to skill.

It's far easier to see just how much better Michael Jordan is than a highschooler than it is to see just how much better one DotA player is than another, especially when there's literally no audience and all evaluation is done automatically by a computer.
You can pretty much instantly spot a very high skilled dota player compared to an unskilled player. Character movement, ability to block/stall creeps, ward placement, last hitting / denying, etc etc. Pros and high skill players do all of that in a way that normal or even good players don't.
YOU can spot a very high skilled player, but can matchmaking? What exactly is it evaluating players on? If it's just win rate then it would take a long time for Michael Jordon's MMR to rise above high schoolers.

Their system is awful. You can get reported by anyone for anything. All it takes is one person to get the ball rolling, and you can get screwed really bad. For example, Valve advertises their sh*t handheld piece of crap and the new controller config for Dota 2. You decide to try it, because you want to play Dota 2 from your bed. You get in game, and without much surprise, playing with thumbsticks is not the most efficient way to play the game. Your teammates notice you're moving slowly/weirdly in-game and start accusing you of "throwing the game" or even being a bot. Then, they mass report you and ask the enemy team to do so as well. You can't defend yourself because it's hard to type on Deck with no keyboard. You end up with 9 reports in one game. Then, your behavior score gets lower and your queue times multiplied by 100. If it took you less than a minute to find a match, it will take you at least twenty now and usually between one hour to two hours. Then, once you're in-game, you will be matched with the lowest of the low. Real grifters who either have poor internet, who are very toxic, or in most cases both. Once you're there, your chances of getting out are minimal because everyone is dragging you down even if you try your best. And the slow matchmaking queues make it impossible to play many games in succession to raise the behavior score faster (implying your teammates decide to not be toxic for a bit).

The biggest problem with behavior score is that it doesn't matter if the report against you is or isn't legtimate, it still counts. So even if you be a good little cuck and keep completely quiet in your games if you lose you'll catch reports from salty teammates.
