So what do you think the retcon of the duel between Horus and the Emperor will be like?

It is already a fact that thanks to the emperor's new personality it is impossible for the excuse of "he loved him so much that he could not hurt him" to happen.

    >it is impossible for the excuse of "he loved him so much that he could not hurt him" to happen.
This never made sense anyway. He watched Horus drive half the primarchs insane, kill a loyal primarch, kill billions of soldiers and hundreds of billions of civillians, raze Terra itself, and then could only bring himself to fight Horus when he saw him kill a random guardsmen?

olly P was just propaganda, it was a terminator/custodian since forever

How are you this stupid. The point of the random guardsman is that everything else could be understood or justified before that. Opposed still, but those actions could be understood from one commander to another. Entire armies are a threat, fellow primarchs are a threat, whole planets and fortifications represent countless threats. One single mortal man isn’t a threat to the man that just laid the Emperor low. By swatting down that singular guardsman, Horus showed that he had no honor or conscience left. Humanity could have no future being ruled by someone who only cared about slaughter. In that moment, the Emperor knew that he wasn’t just fighting for his personal vision of humanity, he was fighting for the very existence of mankind. Horus’s vision of Chaos would have gotten every last man, woman, child, and superhuman killed. That’s why the guardsman matters.

Heh, the last temptation of the emperor, to just die, to let horus win, to use his las breath to purify his wayward son and him, in his guilt would work to avoid the grim fate that otherwise awaits both the emperor and mankind…

No, I don’t think at this point it could be justified for the emperor to just believe that chaos-hooked horus would be anything less that humanity’s extinction.

I admit I may just have gone full brainlet but this doesn't seem to directly mention the Olanius figure one way or another, but the direct mention of Custodes and Imperial Fists seems more in favour of the Terminator version because there's no mention of normal Guard involved at all.

That's the kind of tone deaf lack of reading comprehension I'd expect of a redditor.

From what was posted there, it seems like an Olanius figure being there at all, let alone being significant, is a retcon if it's the first version.

I'm hoping for the Emperor and Sanguinus 2v1'd Horus and later Sanguinus Black Raged at the Emperor, leading Big E to strike his favorite son down but being fatally maimed in the process.
The Rage turn might've been provoked by some realization or something or maybe not, but I do dig the tragic twist of Sanguinus and Big E having fought at the end of all things.

I think the Emperor will kill Horus, but he'll lose control and start to ascend into a Chaos God. Oll Pius will stab him with the athame he's been carrying for TEN REAL-LIFE YEARS, putting an end to the Perpetuals subplot at long last.

Great, the last nail in the coffin to destroy the emperor's character

I doubt this will happen because BL authors are on record to say that they want to play the last big ticket Siege events straight, with no out of left field subversions. However, if this does happen, my bet is that the Emperor asks Oll Pius to do it, because he does not and never wanted to ascend.

I mean, it'd probably be a "Oh shit, I'm losing control! Quick, Oll - You gotta shank me, right now. You gotta save the human race!" thing, sort of an ultimate sacrifice for the sake of mankind.

The emperor isn't what your headcanon thinks. He was never meant to be remotely good, just the least worst option for humanity.

While this post is obviously moronic, the better explanation is that the BL authors have no idea how to characterize the Emperor, and having him appear on screen was always a terrible idea.

The emperor really wants to kill horus but he is so empowered by chaos that at this point he is an avatar of the four gods of chaos.

I have a feeling the whole Dark King ritual will be co opted by Emperor and frens (perhaps to "save" him or something), setting the stage for his whole ascension/becoming a "god" or warp deity.

nothing of that will matter because warp shenanigans mean that sanguinor will become a pure not!sanguinius and horus on the throne is essentially fused and indistinguishable from the emperor

Horus Heresy books were a mistake.

I'm more interested in how Angel boy gets dusted. His speech in Echoes of Eternity was something.

    >The Primarch in me, the supposed demigod half of my heart, craves life with a ferocity that shames me. If I bowed to that instinct, I would take to the sky and never look back. But I cannot. I am half-human. And the human in me demands that I stay.
