So what's the fricking script with the "Durge" playthrough? Is it even that different?

So what's the fricking script with the "Durge" playthrough?

Is it even that different? Everyone treats it like the only way to play

Durge was the first person to have an Absolute Tadpole put in their head, they were the first chosen of Bhaal so you're directly tied to all the main villains. Playing as Tav makes you some random guy. All the origin characters work but Tav is mostly for fricking around with friends and seeing other racial traits, though a gnome Durge would be kino

You get bloodthirsty dialogue options, many leading to you killing them
        >rescue someone from their prison
        >get the option to end their life during the moment they are experiencing their freedom for the lulz
Also don't get attached to your party, every couple of nights you gotta kill someone off.

I think there was a community stream during early access where people voted on what the durge would look like.

It's pretty much custom character+. You can do pretty much everything a custom character does, but occasionally you get the option to give in to your dark urge and do something especially violent or buttholeish. Outside of one occurence you are not forced to give in though.
The character itself fits much more naturally into the plot than a custom character and even most origin characters. You also are connected to the main villain group and have a history with them, which makes especially Gortash ans Orrin feel more developed and less bland compared to playing other characters.
Overall you generally feel more as the main character of the story conpared to just one guy in the group.
Also gets you a nice, unique magical cape early on.

      Ah sweet.

Guess i'm rolling an Oathbreaker Paladin Durge then (My current tav is a Paladin. I will always be a Paladin in RPGs)

        Paladin is pretty fun.

You don't have to go full dark urge (though being an absolute dick is fun), but can also play a Dark Urge trying to resist the cravings and put their life together or an evil Dark Urge who hates having some alien impulse taking them over and wanting to get rid of it for that reason.

Evil Dark Urge? That sounds like the morally good reason though no? Wanting the tadpole gone? But yea, I plan to do a chaotic type Paladin build, Oathbreaker allows this. Will just be fricking people up but also not going full evil. Neutral Chaotic sounds fun

I did the same oathbreaker/warlock druegar dwarf for as many Ds as possible.

It's different in so far as it's worse.
It's not fully fleshed out and MANY of the NPCs end up dead which creates a huge gap in a lot of things.

You are literally forced to kill one NPC who doesn't really have any relevance (and you can even circumvent that and just kill a completely random NPC instead). You don't have to go with the "Kill everybody option every time."

Which is a better playthrough, Resist Durge or Embrace it?

I heard people say Embrace is drastically different to a normal playthrough and you don't even need to massacre everyone you meet to unlock the "embrace" playthrough, just a few people. Is that true?

No, you actually only need to win one fight and then accept becoming the Chosen of Bhaal to get the ending where you embrace being the Dark Urge.
You still get the choice if you want to claim the Netherbrain for Bhaal or if you want to destroy it against the will of Bhaal, in which case Bhaal mindrapes you and turns you into a broken, psychotic mess as punishment.

Because Bhaal is generally a b***h, resiting it makes for the more interesting game. Especially if you then usurp Bhaals plan and take all the power for yourself.

Resist or embrace is only relevant like twice in the game. A big decision in Act 2 and one in Act 3 that determines your characters fate in the ending. Other than that do what you want. I went resist for most of the game and embraced near the end for a last minute villain turn.

    >larian famous for making all the companions have stories and the player character be a nobody
    >understand most people are going to have a problem with the plot being stupid
    >get the bright idea to make a canon murderhobo for people to "hate play" the game
    >also make him a bhallspawn because why not, literally everybody in the game is some god's direct protégé
    >morons go crazy "haha kick the squirrel LOL"
    >it's so paper thin that there's zero discussion about it
    >people talk about how it's unfinished
    >morons bought this game because they thought this was a good idea
you can't make this shit up

    >first run: druid of the moon
    >second run: druid of the lands but switched back to moon halfway through
    >current run: cleric of mielikki
Who knows, for my fourth run maybe I'll be an outlander ranger
My wife is playing a dark urge (resist) tiefling though, so that'll add some difference. And I was a high elf last 2 times but am a seldarine drow (so... still an elf but slightly different) this time, so I get to go around telling mf'ers they racist for thinking I worship lolthe. Underdark should be interesting though, haven't gotten there yet, still fairly early in act 1.
We also played on hard mode for our first play through with no save scumming except to make sure certain characters didn't completely fricking leave, then played on balanced and save-scummed the second time, so this time we're using a mod that lets us guarantee 20 rolls so we don't have to save scum and can just choose what outcomes we get. I might also install a mod to let us just add/subtract approval with followers so we don't have to be so concentrated on getting enough approval to frick in act 1.

Surely you’re not playing without a speed mod right?

I've been trying to use minimal mods. The game crashes enough as is. What does a speed mod do? Just ups movement speed?

Yes. The murderous companions, Lae'Zel & Astarion, will cum bucket when they realized how bloodthirsty you are. Coming clean to them in Act 2 about your killing intent and they will response with "That's hot."
