So, what's the real reason it hasn't been ported to other systems? Was it because the PS3 was such a complex piece of hardware that they just can't do it now, or licensing issues?

no it's jus a bad game,
death stranding was kind of better than that game which says a lot
They just didn't feel like it
>t. did not play the game
I mean, you can't play game that is only cutscenes.
Are you doubting The Cell?
there's an interview where they said they had it working perfectly on the 360. i think it was just an issue with disc size.
I do wonder why exactly and maybe it was just because of the PS3 but I wouldn't think that would be a deal breaker these days but I also know nothing about game dev. I mean aside from Konami being the Konami we know today.
The first PS movie game
also the best
zoomer homosexual
Exclusive hardware
Probably not sure they'd make a profit vs. the cost of remastering it.
V came out early in the PS4/Xbone gen and then the relationship with Kojima soured so they didn't remaster it.
>sony basically produced this game
>It wasn't successful
>licensing issues?
this.
if they wanted, they could shit out a mediocre port out there. Plenty of ps3 games have been ported
to piss on kojima
In standard Konami fashion, they didn't keep the source like all their other games from that era, and while they can (shittily) emulate the first handful, a PS3 exclusive is another story. If Bluepoint didn't get it by now, then it's either more trouble than it's worth, or they don't wanna reneg with Apple and all the other brands/IP Kojima crammed-in
Ps3 is stronger than PS5 pro, nobody has done it because skill issues
"We're on PS3 system" would make no sense on other systems
It would've taken upwards to like 6-7 discs to get it on the Xbox 360. It was considered not worth the effort. Keep in mind there was that arcade-style game using the engine and assets wholesale on phones and Windows stuff, so it's not some PS3 Cell-exclusive engine, Konami and Kojima simply didn't care to port it.
>It would've taken upwards to like 6-7 discs to get it on the Xbox 360
People are STILL falling for this shit? Multiman clocks MGS4 in at 26 gigs, and a significant portion of that is giant uncompressed audio and video to give it's one single CPU breathing-room (coprocessors aren't cores). If it was ported to a normal console, compression could easily bring it down
All of MGS4's "it's only possible on the PS3!!!!" marketing is exactly that, the 360 and PS3 are nearly the exact same PPC arch, it's just that the 360 actually remembered it's 100% a GAME console that doesn't need to "do everything". If anything, MGS4 with a 360 target spec would run better
>the 360 and PS3 are nearly the exact same PPC arch,
their main process uses a similar instruction set, but that's it. their architecture couldn't be more different.
>is giant uncompressed audio and video to give it's one single CPU breathing-room
what. this doesn't make any sense. when they are streaming video they aren't also rendering... they easily have budget to do decompress
>marketing is exactly that
you are wrong. The PS3 absolutely has higher storage on disc. that's not even a question. it definitely has higher peak performance, it's just a pain to actually utilize that
What do you mean?
>considers emulation to be a port
ok bro
at the time, they didn't port it to 360 because of the disc size and some other meta joke stuff about blu ray discs and disc swapping when returning to shadow moses. as to why it hasn't been ported since,i don't know
I'm pretty sure the team had a 360 version running but the team were massive playstation fans on top of the game size
1. We're talking about fricking Konami
2. Yep, probably license issues
If I remember correctly, Kojima and his team actually made a Xbox 360 version, obviously a multi-disc release because for license stuff and a Sony deal they obviously never released it, dunno if that was true.
Unless MGS4 has some obscure code that only works with the Cell, I doubt there's any technical reason why the game hasn't been ported but well, that's going to change with new ports.
It's the worst game in the series.
4 was sweet, 5 sucked dick
people got shot over this.
A Kinojima classic . Still pissed I didn't get mgs5 when it was on sale for like 3 bucks
everything indicates that it was a paid ps3 advertisement, not a real game
Pure soul.
The truth is thst Sony have been salty about the nogaems meme ever since. They refuse to port many ps3 games, because they want you to sneed and seethe.
>oh, the ps3 has no games, did it? Then why are you looking to buy one second hand?
yes, true. they seethe because the right people praise DeS and BB and also rightfully shit on their other exclusives that sony wants you to actually like. they will not port them out of spite.
TACTICAL
CUTSCENE
INSTALLATION
Had MGS4 been released a little bit later it would have been even easier to port it to the 360, namely because Microsoft made a proprietary dvd file system that increased disc sized with almost a full gigabyte and also allowed install discs (GTA4, Destiny to name a few) which they didn’t at the time of MGS4.
Would have been interesting to see as because another anon mentioned here, it might even have been better.
You can play it on Youtube.
They'd have to censor the best scene in the series.
it already runs perfect on PS3 and PCNigs and Xisraelites don't deserve it
>15-20 fps every time something ever happens
>perfect
lol
It's already on youtube tho
1. It was made around blu ray, and couldn't be simply compressed, unlike morons say here.
People forget that 360 didn't have HDD as a standard and until late gen, every multi disc game had to be playable from disc. And every disk would require a copy of shared assets - models, textures, especially octo camo textures, sound and music, iPod tracks. Reminder that MGS4 has 70 realistic weapons, a lot of them with their own attachments.
2. Metal Gear was busy with releases until Konami Kojima fiasco.
In 2013 Rising came out.
In 2014 Ground Zeroes and PC ports.
In 2015 TPP and MGO, and that's when Konami stopped with AAA and switched to lower budget games. Thus 8th gen lost their chance for another collection of ports or remasters.
Bad timing, simple as.
