so what's the reason some dx12 games perform perfectly while others perform badly?

The benefit of DX12 is that it offers more freedom to developers to optimize their game better, the downside is that that requires more work for developers, unlike DX11 it doesnt hold your hand where drivers do much of the lifting for you so youre at the mercy of developers to optimize your game.

to visualize it to people who never tried dx12:
dx12 needs about 10x more code than dx11
that's 10x more opportunity to have a bug.

I've never used DX12 but I imagine its pretty similar to VK and I really don't get this argument that its more work. OpenGL is a huge pain in the ass, do the ritual, copy paste the fifty line mantra, sacrifice a few opengl contexts to satan and pray that you didn't forget to set a state flag, and you may- repeat, MAY, get something working.
Vulkan (and presumably DX12 given they're fairly similar) makes things way more intuitive with its command buffers and pipelines. Actually gives you resources that know what state they're in and how to transition between states rather than random glEnableDoodadEx2 free functions that you need to remember to turn back off when you're done with them.

It wont matter much soon, AI will be able to clean up and optimize code written by programmers in the short term. in the long term programmers will be replaced almost entirely.

Yeah, I miss the DX11 days when every single performed well and there were zero bad ports.

tpm over denuvo over windows, they all fight over scheduling time, being as close to metal is the goal of vulkan, wich dx12 copied. But since they want theor DRM can't coexist and cause stutters

      >being as close to metal is the goal of vulkan, wich dx12 copied
It was the goal of AMD Mantle, which went open source and other people took it and developed it further renamed as Vulkan.

Gonna be funny when the next id game is using DX12 only because microsoft bought them lmao

both vulcan and dx 12 are pretty terrible with shader management, which is right now the main reason for games to suck and stutter.

It's another awful Microsoft API. Microsoft just triggers something in boomer management that causes them to associate it with good software.

If a game uses Denuvo, it runs 40% worse. And your computer has to work 40% harder to play it.

So don't expect any company that is using Denuvo to 'care' about performance.

Some Developers use Denuvo on purpose to reduce performance on pc so they can claim the Console Denuvo-Free version is somehow 'better'.
