So what's the verdict on this thing compared to the 'eck? I remember hearing it had better performance but worse battery life and had problems in a few other ways. The impression I got is that the deck is more solid overall

just another Steam Deck killer that was dead on arrival
Imagine the SD. But entirely better performance, all the benefits of Windows, priced about as good as you can with that hardware, and the only downsides are made up by morons. Things like battery were exaggerated, as was the amount of users with sd card issues or similar.
Sales show it only behind the SD. Which is incredible. Even 1netbook, GPD, and Aya couldn't come close.
Also.... to the two morons
The deck doesn't need a killer. It can't even keep up with the OneXPlayer in capabilities... A device that launched 6 months before it.
>deck flop and shitted badly
many people saying this
Saying what? Did you even read what you wrote? Ally having 700k sales already is beyond any chink shit by miles. If valve didn't brainwash tranners then it wouldn't have managed as many sales with such terrible hardware.
Valve. The company that started lootboxes AND season passes. The company that sold an underpowered shit screened device to toddlers and still has toddlers defend it when better devices exist.
I won't read your reply.
>DECK BAD AND FLOPPED
here's a pity (You)
>benefits of windows
Such great benefits as...?
>The deck doesn't need a killer. It can't even keep up with the "shilled product of the week" in capabilities
User experience>>>>>"capabilities"
You are a dumb motherfricker. This isn't the console space, there are no killers and no tribalism. They're all just different ways to run the same games. The more options the better.
All of you dumb fricks go back to your playstation/xbox/nintendo threads with people inhaling each other or whatever dumb shit you people get up to.
hmm ok so i just finished reading your post and it sounds like the deck didn't do very well huh? maybe next time it won't be as 'shitted' and 'flopped' as you are all saying
(You)
This anon gets it. These aren't shitty consoles with exclusive games and specific services. They're small handheld computers intended for PC gamers with substantial Steam libraries who want to play their older AAA/indie games away from their desks without relying on streaming.
Overpriced hunk of Junk. You may as well buy a pre-built PC or a Gaming Laptop if you're gonna buy that.
Leave the Steam Deck to me.
Do you have a second lower thumb for the right track pad?
$1700
It has no trackpads, why would anyone ever be interested in this? Might as well sit in front of your TV with a shitbox controller.
I see you have never actually used the Cuckdeck. I have used my trackpads none times. Games that would need them are for my home computer not a handheld.
are you homies really playing games with the trackpad. I would only use it outside of games
it's good for FPS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REfp3gc_sJM and also MMOs when you want to use the UI
I use trackpads for Factorio.
they are good for stuff like custom radial menus via steam input. Weapon select and voice commands for example.
It takes some setup, but it's worth it.
SteamDeck is hella shit, the screen is so muddy and subpar when compared to something like the OLED switch, let alone a cheaper poor mans version of a steamdeck
someone outta make a compilation pic with title "The Graveyard of Steam Deck killers"
no trackpad no buy
This, 100%.
I buyed
It runs Windows, which means it can't go to sleep with games running. Kind of a big deal in a hand held device if you want to use it for anything other than playing vidya in bed.
>want to download anything on the Deck
>it has to be on, can't do shit while suspended
It has newer and more powerful hardware than the Deck, but costs a fortune in comparison , has crappy battery life, lacks SteamOS, and has other issues like lacking the haptics and touchpads among other features. . To say nothing for buying it doesn't support SteamOS/Linux or open anything - its kind of a pity, Asus could have gotten out ahead all the other noname chink companies selling these knock off Decks if they basically licensed SteamOS for it.
There are a lot of these also-ran "Deck but newer hardware and more generic" handheld gaming PCs now, and if you were getting one Asus would be a better choice than most others, but overall its missing a lot of what made the Deck great. Its better to either get a Deck, or keep an eye open for the Deck 2.0.
How does the eck handle playing games from other launchers like epic and ubisoft
>chang store
>ubishit
why would you play anything from there?
ubisoft works with a little fiddling, but just like it would on a desktop pc the launcher will keep running in the background eating up resources, so you're better off just cracking the games
deck's game mode really could do with a basic task manager, way too much stuff gets stuck in the background with no way to kill it other than rebooting the thing
>SD card pops out
Quality Control? Never heard of it - ASUS
GOOD MORNING SIRS
VALVE BAD STEME DICK BAD
DO THE NEEDFUL AND REDEEM SUS wiener ALL
I love mine. Like the SteamDeck is barely an upgrade from the switch . same 720p screen...ick
