it's dead, capeshit killed it
>new one
...is someone gonna tell him? I don't have the heart.
FR, I have to look it up now how they shit the bed.
Oh no. What did I miss?
I think they're talking about the alien police one
Chimera squad was honestly fine. I like the experimentation with solutions to xcom's problems, namely pods and activation mechanics. Say what you want about the story or the wokeness, but at the least you don't have to be scared of waking up more enemies for trying to flank. And there's no weird stupid overwatch crawl or walking around out of cover crap cause inactivated enemies are literally zero threat until you see them.
Is the modding scene good for Chimera?
see
>it flopped
I'm not a big fan of pp. I even tried that big overhaul but it still was oretty unfun to play
>Chimera
It's a dead as Enforcer most XCOM fans are playing: Open X-com, XCOM EW/ XCOM 2
long story short guy in charge of Xcom left after capeshit game got released, Firaxis has no plans for Xcom
>left
Pretty sure he was fired over how bad it performed but he's just not allowed to say that
the game did poor because the sort of goobers that play civ and xcom don't give a shit about capeshit, and the sort of people that are into capeshit don't give a shit about strategy games even if you put capeshit in it
It's not even just that those two don't overlap. Even among capeshit fans, a game that heavily revolves around niche characters like Nico, Illyana and Robbie is a hard sell, specifically to movie gays.
This game probably started out as Jake just wanting to feature all his witch waifus in a game. Then he tried adding A-list characters until people gave a shit. But surprise: The game Midnight Suns was ultimately about the Midnight Suns. And I think most people knew that they shouldn't pick this up just for the Avengers or Spider-Man.
So yeah you have a target audience of people who like tactics games who also read Marvel teenage superhero comics like Runaways, New Mutants or Robbies run as Ghost Rider.
As I said: Target audience was literally just me and Jake Solomon.
And the suits at the top will use this as a reason to never greenlight XCOM 3. If they were confident on it selling, they could've tried making it with somebody other than Jake Solomon as the lead.
Anon...
Wait what? Really no XCOM 3? Ever? I wasn't following but I kinda hoped it's in the works with the weird ass spinoffs as a side dish during the wait
I just dont understand these companies
you have a product that is loved and people beg for more
you officially made it
instead of making what you are good at and giving the people what they want you go full moron, release garbage that nobody gives a shit about and ruin the studio
WHY???
same shit with rocksteady or arcane studio or cd project red
Because they don't want to ve stuck for 20 years making the same game over and over again
poor devs because now they are stuck looking for a new job
Xenonauts 2 better not suck
They released Chimera Squad, it flopped.
They released Midnight Suns, it flopped plus filled with DLCs week one.
It's dead.
Play Phoenix Point or however it's called
They were in competition who will release last.
But it seems that XCOM3 is the winner.
It's funny. Feels like the capeshit game had a target audience of literally just me and Jake Solomon. And even I would've preferred XCOM 3.
Midnight Suns was certainly fun for me, but holy god, sidelining XCOM for half a decade because of it was just not fricking worth it.
There's something to be said for franchises that destroy themselves by completely missing the tone of a game even if the gameplay itself is okay. XCOM's appeal was this human supremacist paramilitary simulation, and its latest installment being some capeshittey "we must make friends with the aliens" meme just killed any of the coolness XCOM previously had. Borderlands comes to mind too when it forgot its identity of sarcastic lonely shooter and became le funny meme game.
Never, jake solomon left firaxis
These were the last good video games made in the west.
If you really want more Xcom gameplay play Troubleshooter, the devs really care about their playerbase but it is Korean. I will say the devs keep updating and supporting this game for years and it's atleast a must try for fans of Xcom, even though I myself found the lack of strategic layer to pull me out of the experience.
stop wasting time on nucom enjoy openxcom instead
