So which 2 games from this list would you pick as GOTY contenders?
>2014: Dragon Age: Inquisition
>2015: The Witcher III: Wild Hunt
>2016: Overwatch
>2017: Zelda: Breath of the Wild
>2018: God of War
>2019: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
>2020: The Last of Us – Part II
>2021: It Takes Two
>2022: Elden Ring
I'll choose Sekiro and The Last of Us Part II
I'm not even going to vote until you remove The Shitter 3
I didnt put it there and I wouldnt choose it. I preferred the 1st title
none of them.
the state of gaming is depressing
but enough about troony visual novels
>visual novels out of nowhere
you just got btfo'd in your own wegger thread or something?
Was 2014 really so bad that Dragon Age Shitquisition won GOTY?
The mid 10s were the dark ages honestly
2014 was pretty bad. Personally I'd call Dark Souls 2 my GOTY 2014 and I didn't even like Dark Souls 2 that much.
The only games I enjoyed in 2014 were smash and alien isolation
I haven't played sekiro so I'll just pick that one because the rest of these are gay
gotta love Ganker
BotW is literally the only GAME on that list, and any good in general. Everything else = reasons why gaming is dying now.
Sekiro and Zelda. I really wish more games went the Sekiro approach in regards to power progression. Lots of games have rpg elements and loot that serve no purpose. You either have slightly more power or slightly more armor. If you wont have build variety then those rpg elements are useless
I've genuinely only played one game on this list and it's Sekiro. I'd like to play It Takes Two some day.
>which 2 games of the year would you pick for game of the year
???
>As GOTY contenders
read homie, read
Read what? Your post? Because that's what your post said. You listed the past eight Game Awards Game of the Year winners and asked which 2 we'd pick as game of the year contenders. I can tell you my 2 favorites of that list are Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring but I don't think that answers your question because I don't understand what question you're actually asking?
2 games to compete for being the best, instead of choosing 1 best out of all of them
2016 GOTY was a fricking robbery
I will never forgive blizzard
how did the TGAs get away with that without being publicly crucified is beyond reason
God of War and It Takes Two are okay imo. I choose God of War over RDR2 because God of War feels more like a game than a chore. What game was released alongside It Takes Two to warrant a GOTY? I don't remember it. All the other games are replacable imo.
>I choose God of War over RDR2 because God of War feels more like a game than a chore.
GOW felt pretty arcadey in comparison to the MUH MOVIE GAME insults thrown at it. That's not to say there arent slow as FRICK moments that make you impatient but thats just narrative pacing at work. I liked it
My GOTY list in comparison
>2014: Wolfenstein TNO
>2015: MGSV or Bloodborne, but Witcher 3 is also okay
>2016: Deus Ex MD or Hitman not sure which, both of them were pretty good
>2017: RE7
>2018: Hitman 2 but GoW is also okay
>2019: DMCV honestly, Sekiro is fine but it's no DMC
>2020: Last of Us 2 is fine but my GOTY was Ori 2
>2021: Hitman 3 but It Takes Two is also pretty good would be happy with both of them
>2022: GoW Ragnarok or Neon White, Elden Ring bore me to death due to it's length
>2023: FFXVI for now
Mario Wonder will be game of the decade
Sekiro
The rest are just bad or I haven't played them
Sekiro and Zelda
Or, Sekiro and Elden Ring. I can't decide but those three are in a different league than everything else on the list
Sekiro and ITT are good. I haven't played ER but the rest look like gay Black person shit
Elden Ring is the only good game in that list
Witcher 3 and GOW 2018. Everything else can kick rocks.
Elden Ring and Witcher 3.
>GOTY
don't you mean GOTD?
I've played a surprising amount of these games, only things I haven't are sekiro, tlos2 and elden ring. Everything I did play wasn't goty worthy except maybe witcher 3 but I don't even remember what else came out of that year. Maybe botw as soon as you stop playing as the grand plateau section ends. I played gow because it won goty and by god what a fricking shit game.
Certainly not the dullest game in the history of adventure games. Seriously, each game involving running through a repetitious overworld fighting braindead, cheesable bosses to advance the nonsensensical story has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the broken enemy AI and horrible controls, the series’ only consistency has been its tedious roll spam combat and bland world design, all to make exploration unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Miyazaki vetoed the idea of including any story or fresh gameplay for Elden Ring; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for an independent experience that wasn't open-world dark souls, just ridiculously profitable eceleb marketing and cashing in on trends. The Reddit Souls series might be anti-Tears of The Kingdom (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Starfield in its refusal of innovation, exploration and wonder. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>c-critics said Reddit Ring is good
"No!"
The open world is dreadful; the game was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I would fight a boss, it was one I've fought 5 times already, or has movesets taken wholesale from previous games.
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time an animation, asset, game mechanic, or boss battle was recycled from another FromSoft title. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Miyazaki's mind is so governed by fake praise and mediocrity that he has no other style of games. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Elden Ring. It read something to the effect of, "If these kids are being told these uninspired games are the pinnacle of gaming, then when they get older they will go on to accept Ubishit." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Elden Ring", you are, in fact, trained to accept Ubishit.
They are all from different years. I don't understand your question.
Choose two that should contend for the main GOTY spot. I understand its worded weirdly but I wanted to avoid just choosing 1
>implying i give a crap about muh TGA
VGA and VGX were much better than the diarrhea that dorito awards are, there were game awards before this garbage.
Out of this list, Breath of the Wild and Elden Ring.
With Witcher 3 coming in very close.
GOTY contenders for this year? I’d say my 2 nominees are Remnant 2 and Armored Core 6 but, it’ll probably go to some bullshit like Zelda
>It Takes Two
How? Just fricking how?
