Eventually they did, wasn't as big of a gimmick yet though at the time of the GBA though.

This. I would need all the juice i can get. I played my games in silence thinking it would save me the car ride to visit my grandma.
I'm 29 now and I still don't have an answer.

These always made me paranoid I don't like the idea of something vibrating directly inside a cartridge slot it seems like it would make it wear out.

Nah, it won't move enough to be a problem

Not VG related but when Sun Microsystems was developing ZFS they discovered sound affects spinning HDD performance because it will vibrate the head. They discovered and documented the variables E.G. high RPM drives are more sensitive. All very interesting.

TLDR: I wouldn't discount your statement but it would require a study, which no one will do.

        Reminds me

Also the reason why hard drives have a spec about how many you can put inside a single rack

I wouldn't worry about that, I've had controllers that used contacts pressed onto pads on PCBs to interconnect some parts and those controllers has vibration motoros way stronger and were use for years without any wear to those contacts.

Eats into the battery if it's going off all the time, and nobody wants to be looking at the screen while the handheld is rumbling like an ex-boyfriend is trying to get back together with you over the phone.

comfy and the screen is incredibly crisp and sharp..
      also headphones.

Regarding the screen, did you find yourself straining after a while? I look at videos about it and I can't see myself looking at a screen that small for playing games for any extended period of time.

I think it's something you get used with, I got my Micro pretty late and I did feel like the screen was small, but now I can play for extended periods without eye strain or feeling like it's too small, I just get absorbed into it and then the size stops mattering.

I still think the Micro is fine and not too small to actually enjoy.

Thanks anon. I'm not really in the market for a GBA Micro, but I've always wondered if the better screen was worth the loss in overall screen real estate.

Even the normal GBA screen is too small, which is why I wish the DSi XL played them better

            >normal GBA screen is too small
Disagree. The only issue was the lack of backlight, but as far as size of the screen it was perfectly fine. That said SP is my preferred GBA.

It's legitimately too small. The screen's pixel density is really high and it looks great but in practice it's just not big enough to be anything but a cool novelty.

The only handheld I've ever used that didnt hurt my eyes is the Switch. Ive always needed to use the GBA player to not get a headache playing it.

This. I had all 3 version of the GBA and the SP was easily the best version. The Micro had great screen quality but the screen was too fricking small. Trying to play Fire Emblem and couldnt read much of anything. Luckily I've played both GBA fire emblems to death by the time the Micro came out so that was less of an issue for me.

It is only too small if you have b***h eyes.

micro was literally made for a 9yo japanese child to hold 3 inches from his face underneath a blanket. this anon gets it. i took this thing out at different points in my life since it released to see if i ever found a good time to use it.

the screen is small yes but i can see it fine so long as i am looking at it and only it. the problem with that is if im "mobile" gaming then im out an in the publics view. i like to look around and be aware of my surroundings when im in public or on transit etc. doing that with this is impossible. especially if you're trying to play a precision game like smb3 or some shootemup. the sp is big enough to work really well. i love my anniversary micro and it was the best 100 dollar bday gift i ever got, but damn that thing is fricking micro

yea they weren't going to spend 1200 dollars on some bullshit for their kid. but as a 14yo i was still self conscious of asking for too much bc i wasn't a little kid anymore. the fact that it was only 100 bucks made it easy for me to ask. got my gamecube back in the day on christmas along with melee and luigis mansion.

bsically yea all my consoles were bday or xmas shit. there was a random xbox purchas from costco but it was dirtcheap for like a million accessories plus box

              >poorgay a on still coping about poorhomosexualry
Wew I mean I'm from a poor family and got only one present a year and never even wished for anything and let my parents pick from what they knew I was interested in but at least my parents spend a couple hundred usually on my birthday
That's just sad though, hope you're doing well these days

                It wasn't about "poorhomosexualry".
Just weird that parents would set a strict limit, so 100 was fine but 120 would not be fine. Nobody was talking about 1200 dollars except the triggerd anon from before.

It sucks if you're a blind gorilla but for me it's fine. It's easier to carry than an SP so I use it to take everywhere and play on a whim. It has a bunch of flaws (shoulder buttons, speaker, compatibility) but size simply trumps all. The only reason I can't recommend them is because the faceplates are fragile and quality replacements don't exist. If you don't need the small size an SP is just fine.

Don't have to cramp your hands when holding it with the index fingers on the shoulder buttons
I have no problem playing it for extended periods while my girlfriend's hands will cramp quick trying to hold it comfortably

My friend has MASSIVE hands and he tried playing my old Micro. He said literally everything was too small, including the fricking buttons. He also said he prefers the original GBA because its much more comfortable to hold BECAUSE of his gorilla mitts.

My hands are above average, but I dont have my friends sausage fingers, and I prefer the SP over the micro for comfort.

SP owners, if I have a 101, is there a point in getting a IPS screen? Specially since they don't blur motion as well and are all higher latency?
