      >peloton

In what world a fitness brand would be the second biggest "global brand" in the world?

        Anonymous

Peloton is fricking insane in the home fitness world, anon. Their brand is literally the platinum standard, even despite their shit being expensive as hell.
If somebody wants to get just about any kind of fitness machine for their home, the first and automatic question asked is "should I get a peleton."

I believe you, it can be the biggest fitness brand in the world, but one can only know that if they are into fitness stuff. I'm pretty sure most people in the world are more familiar with Disney, Facebook, and Nestlé than a fitness brand.

It's like saying Nvdia is one of the top global brands in the world. They are huge in tech, but not for the overall global population.

I agree, but then, none of those are on the list in the picture either. Coca-cola is another one that everyone on the planet knows, and it's not there either.
The image doesn't add any context for what actual critiera they're measuring by. The site used for that list is https://relevantbrands-2022.prophet.com/ , so check that out and peek at the methodology section, and you can draw your own conclusions from there.

This is the closest to objective methodology on their site
              >We surveyed, 13.5k+ Consumers, 27 Industries, 293 Brands
              >we selected about 90% of brands on the basis of revenue size and/or recent growth. We selected the remaining 10% on market entry criteria

Pretty shitty criteria if you ask me. The biggest revenue does not translate into most people consuming.

Nintendo is playing it safe with the Switch 2 and that's the correct move for them. All they have to do is keep doing what they do BUT Nintendo have to develop new ips too, they can't just rely on past glory forever. Look at the new Mario, it is a failure, it does not have 2 million units sold yet. That's really bad for Nintendo right there. I don't think Microsoft exit from consoles is a lose for Nintendo even if Playstation numbers double. It doesn't mean anything for Nintendo, aside for the huge Nintendo butthurt of course.

The fun part is that everything you said applies more to Sony than Nintendo. Given that they haven't actually made a new IP in years while the ones they currently use die of over use and lack of innovation.

Actually, 100%. People looked up the "prophet brand relevance index report" some of the other times this has been posted, and it's a doozy.
      >listed as "top global brands", but exclusively a relatively small sample size solely from america
      >no breakdown of age, sex, race, etc of the participants
      >questions were vague shit like "on a scale of 1-5, how does this brand make you FEEL?" instead of any remotely objective metrics.
The brand momentum thing is even worse, it's literally an internal algorithm to collate youtube views and twitter likes into a graph and pretend it matters.

I wouldn't even call the hardware amazing. Sure the PS5 iSLs "powerful" by home console standards but it's put together like ass and practically melts itself. Then there's the fact that Sony hasn't innovated on their input methods ever.

Why are Snoys so fricking delusional? Sony literally can’t afford to make their consoles cheaper than Nintendo because they spent so much time and effort chasing 4K 60 FPS 5 gorillion teraflops meme with their hardware. They painted themselves into a corner by constantly chasing hyperrealistic graphics, and they’re already selling their consoles at a loss while their hardware still can’t manage.

Nintendo will probably own the biggest market share just like now. The novelty factor of hybrid systems are gone so Switch 2 won't sell as well but the software will carry if they can manage to meet 3rd parties standards for development. Which they probably will to a even greater degree than with the Switch.

  21. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

Just do what they've been doing for the last 40 years really. Nintendo has a number of unique IPs that are so culturally ingrained, they can sell systems on their own. And as long as systems are sellable, other people will ask to put their own games on it.
I don't personally like their shit very much, but I easily recognize the clout they hold in vidyaland.
