The thing is, Nintendo doesn't have the same image now as before, now they are seen as the artisans of gaming, and have way more stuff associated to the brand online wise and fanaticism.
Development isn't the same now as before either, if they launch a powerful console they could easily get any 3rd party game same as Playstation, which has always been a problem of theirs by having very different consoles architecture and performance wise.
Unfortunately with their Nvidia partnership I doubt it can happen since Nvidia doesn't make this kind of hardware.
It isn't power. 3rd parties have either had a decades-long grudge with Nintendo, or they are so ingrained in the PS ecosystem that the mere thought of releasing a game on a Nintendo platform is just unthinkable.
