>your sentry kills a soldier or demoman >they equip the direct hit / loch and load for the rest of the match >they're not even good with them, they just use it to specifically take down your sentries >useless for anything else
why are they so fricking petty holy shit
they picked the braindead "i win" class but because of you they have to use their brains so they try to make you miserable in the hopes you leave the game and they can go back to mouthbreathing and drooling their way to top frag
>equip
No, you kill me as Pyro, I switch to the soldier which I only ever use to kill sentries with the Direct Hit. I will still airfrag your black box shitter moron soldier on your team for getting in my way and trying to ego duel on my way to the sentry, but my main objective is just to delete your crutch which is overpowered against everything other than direct hit while you're repairing your nest, and evenly matched with it if you're there to repair it and the sentry is on the front lines rather than behind enemy lines.
The truly OP thing for taking out guarded sentry nests is just regular stickies, but I generally don't need that or have the patience for it because you don't actually defend your crutch correctly.
I'm not being petty, I'm restoring normal gameplay for the rest of the server. Same reason I keep a flare gun as my secondary instead of shotgun, to keep snipers dead or running for health so other people can play the fricking game.
they picked the braindead "i win" class but because of you they have to use their brains so they try to make you miserable in the hopes you leave the game and they can go back to mouthbreathing and drooling their way to top frag
Engi and sniper are even more braindead "I win" classes than soldier and demo, and I'm pyro so you know I fricking hate having to deal with soldier and demo.
The only annoying but actually respectable class is scout.
engi is no different than knowing which spots are best to sticky as demo man (environmental awareness based class).
sniper is no different than knowing where your shot will land on soldier (aiming and reflex based class).
it's literally the same shit. I don't understand the hate for demo and soldier
t. doesn't main any of the above
dont like it. the 100metal cost of the mini along with not needing to babysit it to get it up quickly is what i like. when i used to run regular wrenches, it's mostly the stock one. id use the eureka effect if a spy/scout kept going behind and destorying my teleporter on longdistance maps.
in my experience, against a skilled enemy team it's more viable to just build level 1 sentries and wrangle
no way they're letting you set up unless your team is stomping, and in that case might as well just switch to mini
How do people enjoy using the wrangler? I just dont find it fun. If I wanted to do long range easy damage, I'd just use the machina on the sniper. It's more fun to build a sentry and then fight around it.
the wrangler increases your sentry's damage output and lets it exist for more than one second during a fight against skilled teams at the cost of having to manually control it, it's more of a necessity if anything
it's not really intended for long range poke
TF2 has the potential for a couple more classes, but questions would come up in regards to game balance. >Does this new class make others obsolete? >Does the new class have an impactful purpose or a small niche? >How will this class perform in different gamemodes? >Will we need to expand the player count so TF2 still feels like a single-player online multiplayer game?
Roster Size and role fulfillment is always the obstacle; Overwatch’s roster of 21 is arguably the highest you can go for any class-based shooter, but even then you run into the questions above. Believe me I’ve tried to design a game around the sub-genre. Even in small roster games you get classes that feel obsolete, just look at Electric Slide from PvZ: BFN. But I can’t say that it’s not fun to come up with new concepts/ characters.

all this talk of new class has me worried that an eventual next Team Fortress installment will be like Counter Strike 2 where it's just a remaster that doesn't really change much, just so the economygays can keep their visual style-raping cosmetics
nah these homies are scared shitless of touching tf2's code
i dont think they have the balls to try and recreate it either, considering how thet fricked up a cookie cutter head clicker like cs2
that makes sense
after 15 years with probably dozens of programmers the source code likely looks like manic eldritch scrawlings which cause physical pain when you look at them
CS2 changed a lot with just the smoke changes and MR12 being implemented. But its a very "simple" game so small changes have big impacts. You should be way more scared of the technical issues going from source to source 2 like
nah these homies are scared shitless of touching tf2's code

Both Spy and Demoknight were failures. TF2's melee hit registration is a mess even by source standards and making subclasses built around it was a huge mistake.
>go to 2fort server >sticky spam the top corner of the entrance way in the courtyard >wait for heavyhomosexuals with pocket medichomosexuals to approach >right mouse button >*schadenfreude*
Other way around. Solider and Demoman are the core workhorse classes of the game, and the others are support. Support doesn't necessarily mean bad, I think you could make the argument that Medic is the best class in the game.
what's even the point of playing tf2 if you actually for real think this
is your ideal world the worlds greatest koth_brazil match all engineer no sentries
Demo actually has high skill with pipes, but it turns out everyone just wants to sticky spam cause it's 200% more easier and b***hed the onetime they made the trap weapon require set up
sticky and pipes are so broken the devs literally couldn't come up with new wepon ideas that weren't going to completely ruin the game without being obvious massive downgrades so they had to invent demoknight
Nah the weapon models would be twice as big. I played the 360 version a few years ago and I was crying laughing from how people were still playing it and just the absurdity of everything in it like pyro not having an air blast and those giant ass weapons. They even had a mode where you could walk around the maps and Gay Ben would give you his commentary. God it was fricking hilarious.
not as good as before
still the best and most soulful multiplayer fps that isn't a ghost town
and forever will be until another game comes out that took 9+ years to make (this will never happen in todays age)
I think I may play some for nostalgia sake, it holds sentimental value to me, because it was my brother's favorite game (he was a demo main and was sick at it)
yeah, he intentionally committed suicide by american police. pretty fast and painless way to go since they will magdump on you.
went out like a Demomain chad, I myself am a pussy Spy main

No. I guess I was lying since they fired one center mass shot on him to see if he would stand down and he just looked a little surprised (like "well... that didn't kill me"). so then when he kept walking towards them half the city's police force magdumped on him.
crazy shit. I don't have any interest in pursuing justice or lawsuits. he wanted to die and the police both did what they were trained to do and gave him exactly what he wanted.
not gonna ruin some moronic cops life over my brother's own moronation
funilly enough I came back this year after a 10 year hiatus
Despite many moronic weapon nerfs, still the same fun I had (minus the need to votekick bots every other match)
I think I may play some for nostalgia sake, it holds sentimental value to me, because it was my brother's favorite game (he was a demo main and was sick at it)
it's not like you'll find another game with this much care put into it and so much depth that is also fun to just be in
even relatively good quality games that are being well-maintained by the devs like fortnite don't have this vibe
Demo by a long shot. If you can hit pineapples in AFPS consistently you’ll dominate as demo because TF2 moves at a snails pace compared to those games. Loch n’ Load if you really want to have no fun
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
>giving a shotgun to Demo to effectively make Pyro an even more useless class and remove the one weakness he has (no proper damage at close range without self damage sustained)
Why
Demo requires more skill (if you're not sticky spamming.)
Soldier has more potential for skilled gameplay (but doesn't need any skill to pubstomp because he's Valve's golden child.)
Pick your poison.
People keep saying Engineer is one of the easiest classes, but then most Engineers I see suck at the class and force me to play Engineer 2 to make up for it
And that's disregarding the complete morons who do shit like not building a teleporter
Medic has the benefit of the medigun being designed to be so easy to use so his awareness is 90% spent on staying alive (crossbow is gay so I refuse to use it)
Engi is really easy. You only need decent gamesense to know when to retreat and push up, and as long as you don't build in moronic spots it's impossible to do poorly.
By comments like this I can safely assume you're another one of those people who thinks he's good at Engineer but is merely average, like the vast majority of Engineers.
If you think Engineer is easy, you think most people (including you) are good at Engineer, but most people aren't good at Engineer.
Engineer is THE easiest class in the game. It takes practically zero skill. All you do it build sentries on the map and pray that you get kills, that's it. It's a class built around skill-lessly placing aimbots in the level, rather than using movement or aiming.
>but there is aiming!!! sometimes you get to shoot people with a shotgun!!
If you actually cared about that, you would play Scout.
>but managing building is really difficult!!
It's piss-easy, and boring.
Another average Engineer who puts in the minimum amount of work to be useful and thinks he's solved the class while sitting on the bottom half of the leaderboard and living only because his team lets him. >pray that you get kills

I find the thought process of "I'm not using a specific weapon, therefore the fun of the game is automatically increased" to be really moronic and just a flawed mentality in general.
If you think you're ever actively making the game less fun for other people it would make more sense to just stop playing.
Yes, I do adjust how hard I am trying to try and make the game fun for both teams. >If you think you're ever actively making the game less fun for other people it would make more sense to just stop playing.
No because then I wouldn't be having fun playing the game.
I don't know.
I think chasing the dragon of perfect game balance -- assuming its an actual match and not something like 2fort TDM -- is just pointless. For one, you're never going to see that perfect game and for another; you're playing with 23 other randoms, none of whom will ultimately give a shit whether or not you're trying your hardest or you're sandbagging.
Nobody on the enemy team will give a shit if you're going easy on them if all 11 of your teammates are playing at the top of their TF2 careers. And the opposite is true: people on your team won't care if you singlehandedly save a game from being a total roll. Nobody is going to go to bed that night thanking you for existing on that exact server at that exact time.
And another thing, I think wrapping up your particularities about which weapons you use under the pretention of saving game balance is just ridiculous. It's fine to not enjoy using certain weapons, but going about it like that is just masturbatory nonsense.
This is anecdotal evidence -- but I will say that I do know another guy who also tries to make sure both teams are constantly around the same level. He always ends up trying to micromanage 23 other people to reach an unquantifiable goal of "fun". He sweats to counteract enemy players, he goes easy on new players, he obsessively tries to be a team player. He hates playing TF2. He went and got so autistic about every single match that he ruined his own enjoyment of the game.
TF2 is a big, sloppy mess of moronic players, random crits and bullshit weapons. You'll go bald and blind trying to regulate it all.
Doesn't really take anything away from my experience to swap to demoknight or trolldier if it's clear the enemy team is having a hard time and me piling on doesn't help make things any more enjoyable for them
And if I do have to try as hard as I can to win, that's the ideal balanced TF2 experience
I'm not expecting anyone to thank me for it, I just don't enjoy being an butthole
You don't smear your sticks in shit when you play a fencing game with other kids, it would be more effective, but you are a homosexual tryhard and should be getting your ass kicked for shit like that
Learning that the grenade launcher is Demoman's primary weapon is the ultimate redpill that people are too stupid to accept and enjoy. The stickybomb launcher is too slow and useless most of the time (BUT not always, it's still a quality weapon that is essential to learn). If you start playing as a shield Demoman and actually get good, you will see the light, and the true power of the grenade launcher.
As an engineer main, I hate both.
>your sentry kills a soldier or demoman
>they equip the direct hit / loch and load for the rest of the match
>they're not even good with them, they just use it to specifically take down your sentries
>useless for anything else
why are they so fricking petty holy shit
Loch n Load is a Mann's weapon.
It disappears into dust if it hits anything else but if it blows up the enemy team, the joy is palpable.
YOU'RE RUINING MY COMPETITIVE ROLLOUTS REEEE
because frick engis (on koth maps, and hightower)
they picked the braindead "i win" class but because of you they have to use their brains so they try to make you miserable in the hopes you leave the game and they can go back to mouthbreathing and drooling their way to top frag
This, Soldier and Demo are noob-trap classes that end up wasting your time in the long run and harm your long-term skill growth.

Proceeds to make an entire post being petty towards Engineers and Snipers.
>Engineers and Snipers.

no sniper thinks we are big brained
we just point and click
I don't think you know what the word "petty" means you moronic illiterate pedophile
>Words words words
Damn bro you seem petty.
Good to know I can make Soldiergays throw a tantrum this easily
Good to know you cannot read
Oh sorry, you said you're not being petty. At last I truly see.
Carry on with your calm and collected totally not fuming replies.

Stickies maybe, they are for gays, but demos that run loch and caber knight are the biggest chads out there

jag is good too

They really should've just made what became Demoknight the 10th class.
awful idea. the only good point of this is that i don't get baited into thinking the demo i'm with is an actual player and not just a placeholder npc
Agreed.
*Ahem*
of course every map would need a considerable amount of water for him to be viable
>another spy counter
I think not.

Stickytrapping noobs literally never gets old.
I personally find it more fun to stickycamp the two-entrances but it's nice to see a man of a refined tastes, just like me.
for me it's putting stickies on the top side of the grating and blowing up any fool walking under it
soldier. that was the point of the whole event. he won.
