i think they might have made the combat too easy at first, so you can literally just spam attack and win fights, which is boring
on the harder fights and on hard mode you basically have to treat it as a turn-based game that has realtime mechanics to "earn" your turns and not die in the meantime. it is fun but might not be apparent how you're meant to play it well
