A very poor copy of HoMM3. You are better off playing HoMM1/2/3 (pick which one you want more).
Hell, even if only HoMM1 was the sole comparison, this game would be still inferior clone
I don't own it, but I'm keeping an eye on it from time to time. The devs seem to be doing good work with regular patches and updates. Last big update was by the end of november and added a random map generator with other things.
Doesn't seem like an early access scam at the least lol
Naw homie I'm from the forgotten generation FR FR no cap I be mad AF old

Does anyone own this Turn based fantasy game?
What are your thoughts.
this is a masterfully veiled shill thread. Can you direct me to your company's website? I unironically would like to hire you to shill my indie game on Ganker. Pls respond
Only played the first campaign and a bit of skirmish so far, but I'm enjoying it. The art is great, and I think they actually managed to capture the soul of HOMM while improving on many of the mechanics. If they actually come through with all the stuff on their early access roadmap, I think we might finally get a true successor to HOMM3.
Bought it, played a match, refunded it. You'll know if you're not gonna like it. HoMM style games just don't capture me any more. It's just busywork to build an army and if that army loses once you pretty much need to reload or hit end turn a lot.
If I have never played HoMM, should I start with this modern version to see if I like to format(with modern qol) the play HoMM? Or jus start with HoMM3?
>Modern HoMM
Don't. The exact cut point varies from person to person, but any HoMM after 5 is literal trash shovel-ware, and both 4 and 5 are pretty fricking contentious, too.
Your best bet is to start with 1 and just go in chronological order. If you don't got time for that, jump straight for HoMM3. You want to play the complete version from GOG, NOT the shitshow that's "HD re-edition" from Ubi or other sources (it's just the basic game without expansions [which affects gameplay] and has plethora of issues). If you absolutely must have it in HD, there is a fan patch for that, but it's completely pointless if you ask me.
tl;dr don't touch post-2010 HoMM games, not even with a stick.
The city building and magic seemed cool, but the novelty wore of pretty fast for me.
Then the constant nerfing killed interest in magic and there's not that much to the city building, frankly.
I never played HoMM so this was the first time ever playing a game like this.
It was fun and I have it loaded on my laptop for travel as a nice timesink, but it needs more content or the AI needs to be less predictable
I got it for free from alpha testing and my friends purchased it.
It's only good when played with Simultaneous Turns with your buds, otherwise it's lame
The AI is incredibly weak and the game doesn't feel good unless you do big "final battle" clashes, since the optimal strategy would be to have as many Welders as possible since your main guy will run out of troop space eventually.
There aren't many maps, and most of them you can win in 4-5 days since the border guarding units aren't that powerful, and the AI takes too long to build up strength.
If you played enough Heroes 3 that you can name every hero, this will be a nice diversion for about an afternoon, until you run into a game mechanic that will grind your enjoyment to a halt. Otherwise, play H3 Complete
victory swings way too fast for a game that takes so long. but any game that mimics HoMM is going to be like that.

It's fine to enjoy new games even if you'll return to the old game eventually.
But it's not fine when a new game is inferior to a game older than you, anon, while openly claiming "inspiration".

The mailman is a government agent that is paid to keep tabs on you.
He plants listening devices in the bushes near your house
just ignore those posters, i thought songs of conquest was nice but i got bored quickly of the AI

ESL-kun when anon said "this modern version" of homm, they meant Songs of Conquest not fricking HoMM6 or 7
And the answer still applies, if you bothered to read it, homosexual-chan
this game is better than HoMM 1 and 2 tho

Said literally no one else ever.

Boy are you late to the party
What, did the game get worse with time or something?
People talk about games from the 90s on this board

tldr; not worth the price
I really wanted to like homm3 but the fact that you have to go back to your town to replenish troops really irks me. How is that with this game?
you can build a building in your towns that act as a troop transport allowing you to recruit instantly from other towns.
