How did these four fanbases become the three best fanbases in all of video games.
>You're trolling
I'm dead serious.

Their unmatched, unbridled passion.
Or autism
If actually caring about something in life is what you classify as autistic then yes.
Yes. Yes to both.
No they re degenerates in echo chambers like fanbases in a nutshell
Sonic has the best fans folks.
The FF Fanbase are as insane as star wars fans and there's a lot of similarities between the 2 properties..
For eg FF hasn't been good for decades and the people who made it good are long gone.
>and the people who made it good are long gone.
and yet one of the OG FF crew thanked YoshiP for making FF Even Better at a FF14 event
https://www.gamesradar.com/final-fantasy-14s-yoshi-p-moved-to-tears-as-jrpg-icon-sakaguchi-thanks-him-for-making-final-fantasy-even-better/
Sakaguchi even aprobed ffxv he is a fricking hack since his mom death
got proof, Barry?
I can believe it on the sonic fanbase
>Every big autismo related to the fanbase has been missing for years now
>Both fanfics and DA lost relevancy and are now far more niche so your abominations aren't nearly as common to find out now.
>A lot more fangames are coming out with a lot more autistic effort put into them rather than 10 minute engines or little timmy first GM project
>Actual talented people doing some high effort stuff for once
>Archie being dead for a while finally cut off most of the most autistic parts of the fanbase, IDW doesn't generate nearly as much buzz by comparison
>Game fandom is not nearly as crazy defensive, in fact it seems to swing too far now in the opposite direction.
Reminder that the Sonic fans screeched so hard Paramount was forced to change the entire look of Sonic in the movies from the horrid abomination it was to something that looked more like actual Sonic. Apparently some sent letters and shit to the heads of Paramount and to the directors (some maybe have been threatening but I don't remember).
In my eyes NOTHING can beat the Sonic fans at this point. They even have Cons and shit specifically for their fangames and fanart.
Why is it you think Sonic in particular captured the unspeakable eldrich mass of autism that is their fanbase? What is it about this franchise that has them so stuck in it? The flashing lights and colors? Chrischan?
>What is it about this franchise that has them so stuck in it?
good sense of aesthetics and the ability to go running around at the speed of sound. also a collectathon and crazy science shit. blatantly autistic series but it has its charms.
I'm thinking some sort of mixture of things. You have the "we're all we've got; we're all we need" thing. The Vegeta syndrome always being in the shadow of Goku (Mario) thing. Also being so used to having to fight since, admittedly, Sonic has never not been the butt of the joke for gaming media in decades and still is to a good extent today. Constantly being told the franchise you like is, in fact, shitty by popular trends and critical standards for decades (despite you really liking the games) can cause you to take your ball and go play with people who want you around and/or understand why you like the games. Finally, the attitude Sonic typically exudes which I think is confident to borderline wienery that really resonates.
I have all of these ideas for why, but I can't merge them together.
An autist once told me its because every character only has a single, easily identifiable personality trait.
Sonicgays and FFgays dominated the internet for a long time.
If you define yourself by being the fan of a game or a franchise, you're a dumbass. The need to group all people into these consumer categories is your misplaced need for IRL communities. Nothing that could ever be satisfied by joining a fandom or product-centered gathering. This is easily exploited by marketers and corporate entities.
Since "communities" naturally occur whenever similarly interested people group up, they, the provider of your desire, can exploit crowd dynamics to earn their keep instead of purely relying on giving you a quality product.
Don't play into the schizobabble of marketers. Judge a product for what it is and find people IRL that give you a sense of bellonging.
>Judge a product for what it is and find people IRL that give you a sense of bellonging.
what if you already do that but still hang out with fans irl because you like these franchises.
Do you like the people or just like talking about the franchise?
There's nothing wrong if the IRL friendship is based on something like that. I do not suggest treating online-only relationships with the same weight, though.
The FF fanbase is fricking atrocious and it reflects in the games. It's one of the most divided fanbases I know and thus SE themselves have no idea what people want.
FF11-16 flopped. Final Fantasy fanbase is on life support
Nah, there’s still cultists. Only thing is that zoomers aren’t really getting into FF, since much better JRPGs are coming out these days.
The FF fans don't give 2 shits about the sales despite the gasligting and falseflagging on Ganker. The moment extended FF16 gameplay came out it was the FF fans that were up in arms the hardest.
Passion
Which part of the Bethesda fanbase exactly? The people who are invested on the IPs they have to own or the Todd cultists?
The former are pretty nice, the latter are pokegay-tier
>Todd cultists
You mean the guys who obviously shitpost and joke around using Todd pics? You don't seriously believe people would actually buy Skyrim 30 times because Todd told them, right?
Nah I mean people like the italian fo3 autist
>like that game and New Vegas
>can't talk about either because he single-handedly made it impossible to do so
I like the Sonic fanbase the best. Except for the fricking pedo furry homosexuals. Which is actually a large portion of them...so I take it back

Maybe before F4 came out.
It must be friggen opposite day in here boys.
I've enjoyed a bit of FF, but the only one I actually ever beat was IX, and I used the Steam cheats at the end areas because I couldn't be assed anymore. I prefer the simplicity of DQ, though I've only beaten 3, 5, 8 and 9. Speaking from personal experience, I knew a guy in middle school that I was friends with who was a big FF fan, along with Naruto, etc. Autistic as all shit, thought he had Kefka inside of him, said he give me powers through a kiss. Ended up being a massive queer and eventually a troony. He was my boss at a Hardee's after my senior year and hit me up on FB on my day off saying randomly "don't come over, I'm naked and horny," so I quit that day. He and his gay lover was having a quarrel as well, some homosexual that spoke with a fake Aussie accent.
>the only one I actually ever beat was IX, and I used the Steam cheats at the end areas because I couldn't be assed anymore.
you should stop saying that you beat the game because you didn't. didn't read the rest of your post with your homosexual opinions
I saw the ending cutscene, the final bosses HPs were reduced to 0. I beat the game.
I think having the slowest JRPG combat system known to man and random encounters up the ass is justification.
>but the only one I actually ever beat was IX
>and I used the Steam cheats
No, you didn't beat it.

>How did these four fanbases become the three best fanbases in all of video games.
I know. Before I made the thread it was three, but before I posted it I remembered the RTS fans who have basically built their own community and wholly embrace being the guys who like the "dead for years" genre. I forgot to change the second instance of "three".
Bethesda fanbase is just a modding fanbase. A handful of people are lore-nerds but I doubt anybody with a functioning limbic system genuinely thinks Bethesda makes incredible out of the box titles instead of buggy modding platforms.
Sonic fanbase has the combination of raw autism and the humility to admit the series is shit but they like it anyway.
RTS fanbase is more chill because the genre is dead, there hasn't been a good original RTS franchise in 20 years Though stormrise was underrated tbh and as a result its basically a retro/remaster fanbase. Even the esports gays aren't as toxic as elsewhere.
Final Fantasy fanbase is non-stop shit flinging because everybody has a different favourite FF and everybody has a different most hated FF. Even though 12 is the best and 10 is the worst. The only FF everyone agrees is based are the PSP dissidia titles.
