No. You could argue for the 6th gen games and 06 but once you get to Unleashed the core gameplay is completely different, and the 3D Sonics that follow Unleashed are basically 2D games. Frontiers is the first actual 3D Sonic game since 06 and even Frontiers has a concerning amount of 2D sections. And it still doesn't even attempt to have adventure style gameplay, it's boostshit
People would hate Adventure 3. They have no idea what they want.
People can't even agree on whether it was better when Sonic Adventure had hub worlds, or if all of the gameplay modes were fun.

according to the Storyboard leak, which also leaked part of the final fight in the knux miniseries, the ARK is a gigantic time machine, at some point a fight would break out which ends up with Sonic, Tails, Knux, and Agent Stone (yes, and this is important) dying. Eggman and Shadow will try to activate the machine and rewind time to before the fight to prevent those deaths, specially Stone's since Eggman DOES respect and care for him.
a possible way to retcon Maria's death is that there was an accident in the ARK and she was sent thru a wormhole, instead of being killed, since the ARK is still Dr. Gerald's invention, he can still be held responsible and shadows motivation could still work to a degree.

I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. Whether it's true or not, the movies have departed from the canon material juuuussst enough that it might still be executed well, and maaayyybe I could still enjoy it in its own right. However, the Moon Piss scene is like one of my favorite video game cutscenes of all time, so if it doesn't get blown up, they better at least have SOME reference to it, like maybe they time travel to the Apollo missions or something.

I wonder if the late filming of the actual humans had any effect on the script, like maybe they reduced the screentime for humans due to having to work with just CG filming while the strike was still on-going.
In the docuseries "Quiet on Set" on MAX, James Marsden wrote a character letter to a judge in 2003 to try and give a lighter sentence to one Brian Peck, who sexually abused Drake Bell constantly
Wasn't there a huge defense campaign behind the scenes in favor of Brian Peck? The guy apparently had a really good reputation before it came out he was a kid diddler, and that letter Marsden wrote was a couple decades ago. Now I'm absolutely not defending him here. I do think he had to have a lot of confidence in this guy to actually defend him against the accusations no matter what trust he had prior, and the fact he hasn't even put out a simple apology after this came out is a poor look on his part. Just wanted to address the nuances here since it does seem to go deeper than "this guy is a pedophile supporter" unless we get further evidence of that.

I hope this doesn't lead a slippery slope back into the franchise becoming too serious again. In the mid 2000s they lost sight of what the franchise was about and just went too far in a darker direction without any levity. But on the other hand, if they do maybe people will get sick of it again and maybe finally younger fans will understand why Sonic Colors was such a breath of fresh air when it came out (aside from it being actually good)

and then theres that... how can we be sure they will use that song correctly? for all we know, its just gonna sound randomly on a radio or a tv in story.
LaL HAS to be used for the climax of the final battle, where Super sonic and Super shadow fight together against whatever thing that cant be the Biolizard because the ARK is a Time Machine now. if its used anywhere else, its gonna be the biggest mistake/waste in this franchise next to Ugly Sonic himself.
They'll probably be introducing Amy here too so it's got potential to be nice. But if it's like the past movie they'll cut away from the characters you're here to watch to focus on the humans no one gives a frick about, even giving them scenes that would better fit the sonic characters. We'll see how it goes.
