there's only one button, "jump", so it's easier to get used to on keyboard than something like a
mario where one finger is on run and the other on jump, or anything more complicated than that
too slippery, homing sends you flying, your speed is either 0 or 100 no inbetween, enemies are useless, you have to stay perfectly still while jumping on springs, the entire challange of the boss fights is to try and hit them with the horrible aim of the homing attack, sonic is the hardest character to play as etc.
>too slippery
Are you trying to play this game with a controller? Because as soon as you let go of a directional key the auto-brake feature kicks in, causing Sonic to automatically stop moving after a step or two, i.e. he isn't slippery at all.
>too slippery, homing sends you flying, your speed is either 0 or 100 no inbetween, enemies are useless, you have to stay perfectly still while jumping on springs, the entire challange of the boss fights is to try and hit them with the horrible aim of the homing attack, sonic is the hardest character to play as etc.
yeah but most platformers don't have garbage acceleration and characters that can't stop and slide around like a bar of soap even at low speeds.
sonics platforming has always been trash.

No, they majority do Mario, Ray Man, ect if there is momentum you're going to press the other direction to make sure you don't slide off.

even in mario 64 which is the absolute worst for slippery movement, mario accelerates way faster, has way more friction and can stop and change directions waaay faster. there is nothing as bad as sonic.

No there definitely is you just won't acknowledge it because you're a troll/contrarian. You either want to look smart or annoy people. If you came to this conclusion yourself you'd have the insight to know these conversations never go anywhere. Even if you were right there are too many examples of your side just being dumb for it to win. Just play what you like and give up.

Because you've been groomed by Nintendo into thinking all games must play like Mario. And it's moronic because in all of the modern games he never stops on a instant dime. Hell Luigi is literally designed with Sonic's traction as well yet no one b***hes there.
I can't help but remember the dumb tree in the starting area where you have to fenagle it so that you jump a precise distance one way and then a precise distance another way only to have a tiny distance to build up speed to make a long jump (no coyote time btw)
straight lines of platforms are easy Black person
I can, you just suck. It players fine on either controller or m+kb, strafe mode or not. Play around with the settings other otherwise get good. The game is relatively hard on the final levels and I appreciate most 3D Sonic players are used to never having to platform ever. The platforming in this game is actually really good and the momentum very controllable. If it's still too much for you play a modded character who has more aerial options but is still kind of normal like surge or shadow.
Literally everyone I know who plays SRB2 has a radically different control scheme.
Some people like playing with m+kb with jump on M1 and spin on M2. I personally play on a PS4 controller with strafe and autobrake off R1 and L1 controlling the camera, X jump and Square spin. I've completed ultimate mode using this and is a fairly 'normal' platformer control scheme in my opinion.
Assuming four years ago you actually played version 2.2 in December of 2019, not much
If you last played 2.1 or earlier, it's almost completely overhauled
i'm glad people are coming around in regard to seeing that beyond the dedication to the project there is really nothing special about it. it's not near as good as people make it out to be. matter of fact, it's closer to being terrible than it is to being good.
What would you call the force of Sonic grinding to a halt despite having no directional input after thokking if not the game's physics? I would understand him stopping so abruptly if he was holding in the other direction but that's not what's happening. There's also the instance where he thoks into the slope and doesn't naturally run up it but instead bounces off the slope with barely any force.
>What would you call the force of Sonic grinding to a halt despite having no directional input after thokking if not the game's physics?
I call that having autobrake on which is an optional feature you can turn off in the control settings which you have clearly never even opened.
>What would you call the force of Sonic grinding to a halt despite having no directional input after thokking if not the game's physics
autobrake
check the options menu, anon
>What would you call the force of Sonic grinding to a halt despite having no directional input after thokking if not the game's physics?
The Fire shield from S3k on crack.
I thought the same thing, but I was trying to play with a controller. It feels so much better with a M+KB it's not even funny.
(If you still can't play it well even with M+KB then you just suck though)
The funny thing about this is it's the very first thing you see in the mod. The hub's stage selection is out of the way, you have to physically walk past all these pride flag towels to play the actual game.
How the frick am I a shill you stupid Black person
nuSTJR are a bunch of troony morons who have ruined the SRB2 community and to a lesser extent the game and I would never affiliate with them
What does holding right 2 win have to do with the webm? Fricking morons have the memory of a goldfish goddamn

Goddamn you're moronic no wonder you play Sonic fan games lmao
>that one guy that makes tons of maps based on Rayman 2 with various custom shit in it for the OLDCs
Soul, I've met someone who appreciates the game's atmosphere as much as I do
Literally the best 3D Sonic game ever made and I mean that 100% seriously. Like real Sonic your first playthrough will be pretty rough and you'll struggle but it will flow effortlessly once you've done a few playthroughs and are comfortable with it.
Additionally the vanilla cast/campaign are only a tiny part of the game. There are loads of really fun/interesting (and generally easier/higher powered) modded characters you can download as well as campaigns. I recommend the OLDCs, especially the newest one which is pretty much back to back stellar unless you are a brain rotted snowflake who gets triggered by some towels in the hub area.
So like a regular sonic game then?
their community is filled with furgay troony groomers
It controls perfectly. Somehow keyboard and mouse just fricking works for Sonic.
there's only one button, "jump", so it's easier to get used to on keyboard than something like a
mario where one finger is on run and the other on jump, or anything more complicated than that
In what way?
in the way that you can't do basic platforming in a platformer
I can. Sounds like a skill issue. Explain why you can't do it.
too slippery, homing sends you flying, your speed is either 0 or 100 no inbetween, enemies are useless, you have to stay perfectly still while jumping on springs, the entire challange of the boss fights is to try and hit them with the horrible aim of the homing attack, sonic is the hardest character to play as etc.
>I'm not willing to learn the games mechanics; the post
Okay. You can stop replying now
Fix your game mechanics
Unironically what is bad in that gif?
you should only just go fast when playing sonic and never be impeded in anyway from controls, level design, or player skill/effort.
>Homing
There is no homing attack you stupid fricking moron.
>too slippery

There is no homing attack, and that's a good thing.

>Hehe this is you! You look le silly!
Go back to twitter, you Black personloving homosexual.
what kinds of platforming are you trying to do
If you need to wiggle the character so he doesn't slip out the platform your game is shit and literally no different from sonic heroes
every platformer on the planet lets you pull the stick/dpad back to halt your moment you turbo Black person

where the frick is sugoi trilogy
no wonder sonic fans like it
I wonder how long it will take for the honeymoon to end and for people to realize this game is unironically hot fricking garbage.
>honeymoon
Anon, SRB2 first came out in 1998
It's been a long fricking honeymoon then.
>when will people stop liking the thing I don't like?!
Go outside.
>honeymoon
I've been playing SRB2 on and off since 2005, anon.
For me, the "honeymoon" ended when Knuckles stopped looking like this.

havent played this in 4 years, how much has changed/been added to the game?
Assuming four years ago you actually played version 2.2 in December of 2019, not much

I play it too open didn't like controls. Is true it is a doom source engine ? That's pretty cool
It's DOOM with Sonic level design. No shit it controls like ass.
i'm glad people are coming around in regard to seeing that beyond the dedication to the project there is really nothing special about it. it's not near as good as people make it out to be. matter of fact, it's closer to being terrible than it is to being good.
the physics are completely busted
You are using sonic's thok ability, there is no physics at play here at all. You're using a homing attack esque move that propels you forward.
What would you call the force of Sonic grinding to a halt despite having no directional input after thokking if not the game's physics? I would understand him stopping so abruptly if he was holding in the other direction but that's not what's happening. I mean it's a sonic fangame. Mentally ill freaks have to be involved somehow
Filtered
SRB2 is the best controlling game ever made, cope.
t. been playing for 15 fricking years
Nice """""""gameplay""""""".
I forgot Sonic was about jumping in circles mindlessly.
I wasn't focusing on the gameplay homosexual I'm showing how precise the controls are
There is level design
That video is the shit you learn to do once you've played said level design to death
Cope. Your game is shit, shill.
How the frick am I a shill you stupid Black person
nuSTJR are a bunch of troony morons who have ruined the SRB2 community and to a lesser extent the game and I would never affiliate with them
Absolutely seething lmao imagine getting mad about Sonic
>Y-YOU'RE SEETHING! YOU'RE MAD!!!!
I'm not really but have fun telling yourself that
Cope harder and touch grass
Mald and rope.
As oppose to holding right 2 win mindlessly?
Imagine falling into pits or not being able to jump to fight bosses lmao are you disabled?

This makes me pissed off, I want level design not physics exploits.
I honestly have no idea what the devs were thinking.
I remember playing it when it was just 2d sprites. The fact it is a Doom mod really creeped me out as a kid so I never played much

SRB2K is better. Sorry bro.
I think that's definitely a reasonable opinion to have but I'd argue it's still basically SRB2
>thok is hard to control
You're just b***hing because Sonic doesn't get a stomp like his other 3D games.
It controls, just get good.
/srb2k/ won
I have been spectating this thread as a curious 3rd party but I have come to the conclusion that OP is a massive moron.
