What's so surprising? Shadow is arguably the most popular Sonic character outside Sonic himself, and SA2's plot has more potential to be made into an interesting movie.

I wouldn't worry about his edgelord characterization as long as it's kept to this movie only. Remember, Shadow is the main villain of SA2. He's manipulating Eggman the entire time to ensure Gerald's will, and it's only in the end that he switches things up to save everyone. Shadow is gonna play the villain this time around, and they'll probably play that angle up, sure, but as long as they stick the ending then I think things will be fine.
Before the Motherfricker saga, maybe. Now, though, they definitely won't. Plus, Paramount's already in hot water as of recent for hiring sex creeps, they sure as hell wouldn't want to reference one.

Eh, I think Metal Sonic's opportunity has passed. I think that would have made the most amount of sense in movie 2 and drop Knuckles to make room for it (put the bulk of the character focus on Sonic and Tails).
Maybe he could show up in a mini-series if they want to keep making character-focused shows between movie releases. But as a movie antagonist I don't see it happening anymore now that Shadow is a factor.
Personally if I were to pick something to center movie 4 around I'd go with Sonic Unleashed. That has the most potential going forward.

Not great but not terrible either. Honestly I feel like Shadow's game could have made a fantastic plot for a Sonic Adventure 3. Traveling around the world and playing as multiple different characters as they each help to fend off the invasion in their own way with shadow's levels being him outright helping black doom for most of the game while constantly butting heads with the rest of the cast. Never fighting them with intent to kill, but always steadfastly insisting that this is what he has to do to find the truth, and of course slowly being convinced that he's being lied to as things go on. Meanwhile hero missions should be exactly like they are in A2, with the first part of the game being everyone scrambling to react to the invasion and unravel where the heck they came from through things like inspecting the murals at glyphic canyon, trying to find eggman to get more information about Gerald's dealings, butting heads with GUN to crack their secret databases, etc. And the latter half of the game being everyone coming together to stage an attack on the comet itself and take control of the ark to complete its purpose. Its a really good follow on to A2 from a character perspective, just needs more focus on what the rest of the cast is doing rather than just shadow.
Bold of people to assume they're cooking some sort of Sonic Movie Extended Universe. Yes, they made a mini-series that ties with the final movie to drum up the hype (the characters exist and stay relevant outside the movies anyhow), but there's nothing planned for this particular project after Movie 3.

When is Shadow 2 where the notAngels who have been trying to cleanse the universe of the Black Arms and Chaos and now they're after Shadow and the emeralds.
Shadow mini-series could go like this:
>Shadow is back on Earth having survived the final battle but has no memory of his past
>GUN tracks him down in the first episode and he surrenders to them peacefully, being uncertain of anything
>GUN agrees to help him reconnect with his past if he agrees to work for them as an agent
>Series unfolds across some key missions he works for them - could potentially introduce Rouge and Infinite here if they need new animal characters
>one of the last episodes has Shadow traveling to an old abandoned GUN laboratory
>in actuality it is the place Gerald Robotnik originally designed Project SHADOW
>discovers the old files and his memories flood back
>confronts GUN leadership now remembering everything and how they were responsible for taking away his family
>believes they are trying to manipulate him and refuses to work with them any longer, leaving the organization at the end of the last episode
>possible allusion to the presence of Black Doom, setting up a potential second season
The show should be rated TV-14 but I don't know if they'd be willing to tack such a high rating to a Sonic-related property.
They'll finally do a reference to that one comic.
Shadow 05 rewritten
Not great but not terrible either. Honestly I feel like Shadow's game could have made a fantastic plot for a Sonic Adventure 3. Traveling around the world and playing as multiple different characters as they each help to fend off the invasion in their own way with shadow's levels being him outright helping black doom for most of the game while constantly butting heads with the rest of the cast. Never fighting them with intent to kill, but always steadfastly insisting that this is what he has to do to find the truth, and of course slowly being convinced that he's being lied to as things go on. Meanwhile hero missions should be exactly like they are in A2, with the first part of the game being everyone scrambling to react to the invasion and unravel where the heck they came from through things like inspecting the murals at glyphic canyon, trying to find eggman to get more information about Gerald's dealings, butting heads with GUN to crack their secret databases, etc. And the latter half of the game being everyone coming together to stage an attack on the comet itself and take control of the ark to complete its purpose. Its a really good follow on to A2 from a character perspective, just needs more focus on what the rest of the cast is doing rather than just shadow.
Why does this make me feel uncomfortable, like I'm on the receiving end of a "Good morning, fellow kids," moment.

Sonic 3 is either going to be the most kino video game movie ever, or pure fricking garbage.
Bold of people to assume they're cooking some sort of Sonic Movie Extended Universe. Yes, they made a mini-series that ties with the final movie to drum up the hype (the characters exist and stay relevant outside the movies anyhow), but there's nothing planned for this particular project after Movie 3.
I can't believe they are making the 3rd movie now.
To think that all these are possible because they listened to the feedbacks and realize that the original design of Sonic is simply too ugly and shit.
Why don't movies/books/games do this more? Listening to feedbacks.

Sonic heroes isnt really heroic second wind music. Open Your Heart or Live and Learn work far better for that.

yeah I like sonic heroes as a song but its not climax worthy. If its used for anything it should be backing track to an opening montage/scene of the three of them just running around doing hero shit and having a fun time. Its the kinda upbeat everything is alright and things are going well kinda song that encapsulates the early part of a story before the hero encounters his first struggle that upsets status quo.
