How much money did they invest into Hiroyuki Ito? Can I get a Dungeon Encounters 2 with a budget larger than a pack of gum, a notepad and a 2B pencil?
So Sony is courting japanese games more to supplement their movie games?

Hopefully they won't try to inject any woke media in them.
Also funny how they gave japanese devs the cold shoulder for many years and now they are coming back when they saw their movie game business didn't thrive the way they wanted lol.
Making FFXVI a console exclusive will kill the game tho, I'm not buying a PS5 just for one game that will eventually come out for PC.
God of War literally broke all sales records of previous First Party titles. Both it and Horizon are on the NPD top ten lists of most sold games and GOW is above pokemon. The NPD does not include bundles
The opposite happened
>The opposite happened
Except it didn't. All the proof you need is from Sony themselves.
If the opposite happened and Sony are making a killing from their huge exclusives then why did they shit their pants at the possibility of Microsoft taking COD away from them? Why were they adamant to not be compared to Nintendo? Those actions speak far louder than any sales numbers and bragging can. They AREN'T breaking even. They aren't succeeding.
>But it broke sales records
>But it sold 10 million units
And what was the number of units needed to break even? We just saw that the 2 million unit selling Calisto Protocol needed 5 million to break even. Those numbers are for a small teams game, a huge AAA multi year, multi-billion dollar project will cost far more than that. Sure 10 millions big but what if the number needed to break even is 20 million, 30 million. Those sales then become void since it's not making money at all, it's a sink.
Then ask yourself, if 10 million is a flop then WHAT THE FRICK ARE YOU DOING JUST STOP PUMPING THE BUDGET LIKE YOU'RE DOBSON WITH A BIKE PUMP.
>They AREN'T breaking even.
proof?
>Hopefully they won't try to inject any woke media in them.
What is Forspoken?
i dont care about any of this asiatic shit i'll emulate it in a decade or watch the re-re-re-re-remake movie
you telling me these slanty eyes have came up with an original story to tell? it's gonna have gameplay so groundbreaking it's worth buying their media center? great joke
>Apparently
>Sony has also called dibs on Dragon Quest Development
Fricking LOL. Not only would SE NEVER make DQ exclusive to the PS5, Sony couldn't take it even if they wanted to, you stupid moron. DQ is owned by 3 separate companies
Just spreading rumors on the internet?
>Sony has also called dibs on Dragon Quest Development
Ah yes, SE would sell the exclusivity to DQ (a series notorious for selling best in Japan) to Sony (a console that is not selling well in Japan) instead of to Nintendo (a console that is selling very well in Japan)
This makes sense, Square said how they would take investment but now sell themselves
They could have a joint venture with sony to develop their ips
Wont mean that Sony will own them, but will fund and give them resources on their projects
>but now sell
but not sell*
Sony also wants square on their side now at all cost because in some years microsoft will have activision and bethesda releasing games
>Wont mean that Sony will own them, but will fund and give them resources on their projects
Basically. But also it depends on the project
Sony really only cares about third person action games, especially with RPG elements mixed in. If it deviates from that formula, forget it.
They push hard to make sure FFXVI and FF7 Remake come over but they don't even bother to try to get Octopath 1.
If DQXII is remotely action-esque in its gameplay, Sony will spend BIG to try to scoop it up. And the only chance that they succeed is if Nintendo's next system is too weak for whatever goals Horii has
Yeah, this deal is probably related to specific ips, i doubt sony cares about the 2dhd studios, they will probably keep working with nintendo
>Sony will spend BIG to try to scoop it up
Dragon Quest might as well be a Nintendo IP for much it sells there than PS. Also its not up to SE to make a deal like that.
I think that everything related to publishing rights is Square's part
But they wouldnt take deals that would create a bad situation with people who own that IP
Square has the best option possible with DQ just like Nintendo has with pokemon
Every game will go through them anyway
And their relationship is so good now that Square is also developing the new games
getting manpower from square is not the same as the company itself "developing" the game
the core team will always be from Armor Project
For sure
Im just saying how much the influence of Square grew as time passed, they probably have more influence on DQ than nintendo has with pokemon
They arent simply the people who publish the game anymore
Yosuke saito, the nier producer and big square suit did a lot of DQ games
not suprised since he's a former Enix employee
Btw idk if sony can even moneyhat DQ, but they will moneyhat nier so fricking hard
I don't think they could even if they tried
DQ has been a success for 35+ years meanwhile Nier has a director that simply doesn't give a frick about making a good game and got hard carried by Platinum with Automata aka his only game that sold really well
Replicant did sold well with its remaster, of course it wont sell 6 mil like a new game
Automata was an anomaly by itself
Anything on SoP?
I believe this less than the Anniversary leak.
>Sony has also called dibs on Dragon Quest Development
fricking kek
Yuji HORI owns the fricking IP and he only wants the games to reach as many people as possible
not just that but DQ sells like hotcakes regardless so they don't need Sony's pozzed money
at least try doing some research before making fake leaks
REMEMBER TO BUY PS5 OKAY
500 fricking MILLION?
what the frick? how the hell is that even profitable for them when it's all timed exclusivity
This strengthens the ps brand as a whole
Sony needs these types of partnerships now that xbox is going into buying spree
Microsoft and Sony used to take turns paying big bucks just to have Call of Duty dlc be exclusive for 2 week/1 month. This is reasonable.
Square Enix should buy Housemarque.
IF this is true then it makes sense that their games aren't on Xbox and DQ is taking too long to get out from the previous one, since the Switch is owning Japan and PS5 makes no money software-wise.
They really should bite the bullet and buy them but I think they want the huibbub around the Microsoft-ABK merger to die down before they try it and it's going to be a long process there too because all the meddling Sony did will be turned against them for whoever they acquire next from Microsoft, Sqaure Enix or otherwise.
I think what's stopping them isn't the ABK merger though that may play a part, but that SE either isn't willing to be purchased by Sony because it's not making money in Japan, or is waiting for FF16's sales numbers on the PS5 to determine if the purchase will be worth it.
>SE either isn't willing to be purchased by Sony
If they didn't, there would've been no reason to sell all of their Western studios. Slimming down is something you do when you want to be purchased or are losing a ton of cash, and there is no indication the latter is the case when FF14 is still great and practically a money pipe. If the board is having second thoughts, then they royally screwed up at this stage in the game. I think ABK merger is the only thing keeping it on hold.
why did Sony sell their Squeenix stock then? They would have more leverage into strong-arming Squeenix to make their games exclusive to PS
Square already said how they dont want to sell, mostly take investments with partners
>buys exclusivity of all Square Enix titles except for the only one that anyone's interested in
Oh no, not Square Enix. Not the worst studio in Japan who has been producing nothing but horrible flops for decades with the sole exception of a fricking MMO and has lately also been hard-swerving into fricking NFTs as a business model. Not these guys. Please, Sony, give them back.
Are Konami even a game studio at this point? If so yeah, they're worse than Square Enix, but only because they already hit rock bottom on account of a lower starting point and a bit of a head start. Square will catch up, they're making great progress. When FFXIV falls out of relevance they will literally be Konami-tier with many IPs in their library but literally no capability of doing anything with them.
>Are Konami even a game studio at this point?
I mean they've quite literally got an evergreen constantly selling well in Japan that hasn't left the Top 30 even once since release. They're doing better than most companies. Smartest decision they made was to not cater to the west. They're making a killing.
Yea, they still make video games.
https://img.konami.com/ir/en/ir-data/meeting/2022/en0512_38wg22.pdf
If Squeenix actually goes through with their plans to introduce NFT's into their games, they might end up worse than Konami
Japanese government is giving tax breaks to companies who invest in crypto, Square is just doing the usual that companies do
Fleecing the government
Konami are actually doing fine they have evergreen in Japan, and with no fat called Kojima production.
wow that's crazy. genshin impact's gross take in the cn market in 2022 was 5.5 billion dollars
good luck square enix
What is this even supposed to mean lol
it means SE is irrelevant at the only thing they do, and they're going to be chasing new blood without ever being able to catch up
look for FF16 to have extremely low sales, as it's targeted at noone and asked for by noone and everyone who might have cared forever ago is already spending money on genshin impact which is basically to 2023 what final fantasy was to 1993.
it's an irrelevant company, and sony is just stupid enough to sink money into them like that.
I dont give a frick about sales because im not a suit or investor of square enix
I only care if the game will be good or not ,i dont dickride random numbers to validate my taste
Using a random number of a shit gacha to prove superiotity just shows how brainless you are
Do you also basedface at mcu box office numbers?
>I only care if the game will be good or not
It won't. I thought that idea was pretty much expressed as a for-granted. They haven't done one meaningful thing in the gaming industry in well over twenty years.
Yeah you proved your point perfectly when you start a topic showing how much a gacha game makes money
it's directly comparable in the discussion about relevance. sorry you don't agree and have to jump on your soijack button because you've been reduced to only interacting at that sad level
True because companies should always follow trends in order to keep popularity, even if it means going mobile and making their biggest game a gacha
Genshin is such a great example of the direction that vidya should follow to make money, not quality
But if you love seeing big number of the company going up regardless if the game will be good, it will be amazing for you
square enix and sonys biggest products are already mobile games
you didn't know? 🙂
you aren't making any kind of point though
>it's directly comparable in the discussion about relevance
Except it isn't. Let's say HYPOTHETICALLY there are 10 million players however only 100,000 of them spend money on it. Is that more or less relevant than 10 million people paying for a full priced game?
You can't use a gacha game for relevance when it can very quickly be distorted due to the nature of gacha games and their whales.
Because relevance for him means more money even if the genre is sustained by paypigs
The logic is flawed as a whole because i will always prefer something with quality than just bigger
The mcu logic is the perfect example
Using genshin as a parameter of how the industry should go when we talk about relevance makes the guy seems like a generic suit of EA
so what you're saying is you haven't played genshin impact and are assuming its quality level
which is frankly bizarre, since it's so obviously so much higher than anything square's produced in decades that the only comparison is relevant, thirty-years-ago square
if you care about fantasy adventure gameplay, you are doing yourself a disservice by being too smart to play it because your discord doesn't or whatever. there's a reason it gets brought up as a harbinger of SE's continued slide into irrelevance: it shows how to do things going forward
If there is a thing that genshin does well is how to set methods to suck money from teenagers
They are incredible at that
>rejecting the obvious
you can plug your ears and la la la all you want. i was there when square became square, and now i'm here when mihoyo became hoyoverse
it's so bizarre to me that younger people worship at the alter of square enix when you weren't even around when they were meaningful to this industry
Yeah anon, continue basing your life around what has bigger numbers, im sure it will be amazing
If it makes money, it is better
you're welcome to operate under the assumption that the best things don't succeed i guess
that would explain your life, after all. really convenient
Im glad that you only play gacha games because they will obviously be the most profitable
So they will be objectively better
Which cellphone do you use?
Im glad to know that Fifa, Madden and Cod are the best franchises in vidya
not him, here from the front page. idk why your chain caught my attention but it did. genshin is quite possibly the worst game ever made when it comes to moving a character in a 3d space with a controller.
it is the most unresponsive POS I have ever had the misfortune of trying. this is my first and last post in this thread.
Doesnt matter anon, if it makes money it means that genshin does it well
Yeah
There is 2 options
1) he is a genshin player wanting to brag about how much money his game makes and why it is better than anything else
2) he is just a sad dude that bases quality around how much money a game sells/makes
......where is the quality in square enix games? lol
When did i talk about square enix in my reply?
Me thinking that he is a complete moron when he brings genshin as parameter of anything has nothing to do with square
you don't understand how to have a conversation with people, or even an argument. I see this more and more with your generation. like, you objectively just don't get it, and can't be interacted with even in an angry, insulting way.
weird. like some kind of cellphone social media golem thing.
Did you already bought your tickets to watch ANT-MAN AND THE WASP?
We got the answer for that
holy shit
Well, depends if you liked their recent offerings. You can probably infer how well their future series will play like by looking at those. Personally, I pirated Harvestella but it was a pretty decent game besides the price tag and horribly androgynous MC design.
Genshin players are a gift that keeps giving

If this comes out in court, this is gonna make the Activision merger as good as done, as Sony's (and the FTC's) argument evaporates.
If this is true, why isn’t it public and when will it be made public?
Because it's not. OP making shit up as usual. Still surprised how did this thread lasted this long.
It’s believable in a way though. Interesting that op didn’t mention kh4 at all though.
This type of joint venture is something that Sony would really do
Sony invested a lot of money on from soft some months ago
They doing something more direct with square to develop games is extremelly on brand
They are using their own teams to help Team Ninja develop Rise of the ronin
Yeah, going for a claim about DQ of all series instead of saying Sony bought exclusivity of KH which it always did was not very smart.
>instead of saying Sony bought exclusivity of KH which it always did was not very smart.
DQ is probably easier to buy than KH since it means having to deal with The Mouse.
Oh my God this post is cute. It reads like an old school Ganker post. I want to hug you, kiss you, and pat your head.
Disney execs don't know jack shit about video games. Plus, it's not like KH hasn't been exclusive to random fricking platforms since it started anyways. Square can just flash random numbers in front of a Disney suit's face and claim "the PS5 is the best platform for KH (because Sony paid us to put it there)" and they'll sign because they don't know any better.
It stops being believable when he mentions DQ10's getting an English release. That game is deep in the realms of NEVER EVER that even the offline version was said to not be getting a western release.
>believable
No random idiot would leak a fricking multi-million deal between two companies that would lead to some massive legal issues AND knows all the unannounced titles unless they are part of the team/legal team that is negotiating these deals or working at the higher echelons of Square. This is just another form of those "SONY WILL BUY SQUARE ENIX" rumour that has been regurgitated for 2 years now.
This one is not as moronic because it uses a situation that makes more sense, of square just getting funding from sony
>New Timeline but apparently has a Dragon acting as a sidekick
CAIM IS BACK.
Nobody gives a shit about ix for them to do a remake
Why do people act like 9 remake isnt happening when it leaked 2 years ago? wtf
