Communism does the same thing, destroying people's private property, and art and literature that doesn't agree with them or that they deem to be bourgeoisie.
>stated problem is lack of ownership >proposed solution is to abandon the concept of ownership entirely
You are moronic enough that I believe you actually are a commmie.
So capitalism? Cause like, that happens in the us all the time. Hell homeless people will regularly have their meager possessions burned by cops because they dared to have things.
It’s fricking funny that I’m still stuck in an apartment because I can’t find a home in the area that I want that doesn’t have a bunch of asswipes going “no you can’t till your grass up and plant veggies”. Fricking disgusting shitbags HOAs are.
We aren't ready for communism yet as a species. It's a lovely idea that just does not seem to work in practice.

I was unfortunately being dead serious in that post about FALC. Communism sounds great on paper, but it's also completely unrealistic to accomplish in this century without some sort of hellish, apocalyptic destruction of the global economy, and even if that were to happen I doubt anybody with a Twitter account is excited to adopt that subsistence farming lifestyle.
It would also work if we had star trek style infinite free everything generators. If everything needed for society to work can be created without anyone doing anything, then you can just give everyone an infinte everything generator and be done with it, and 95% of the population will just stop working cause they don't need to. But "infinite free everything" would need to include things like law enforcement and goverment, which would probably suck to give over to robots 100%
>This is why we need Communism.

what happens when your machine breaks and the parts aren't available anymore because the children in that sweatshop grew up and they lost that knowledge.
>Taking a break will insure your diode will last forever
inb4 you explain that you will never up 50,000 hours into your console because it is for 'preservation'
The only parts that are likely to break down within our lifetimes are the capacitors, which can be replaced pretty easily. If you don’t replace them in time or the company cheaped out on them to begin with, they can leak electrolyte on the motherboard which can corrode traces over time, which is significantly harder to repair or sometimes impossible.
If you want to play retro games, learning how to solder is a good choice.
There are heaps of parts that break down depending on the machine. I used to have an old HD betacam recorder/player, same with a Sony XD cam player and I needed to take them to an electrical engineer to get fixed because they were past their shelf life and those are only 20 years old.
My optical disc cartridges will fricking outlast the sun sure but the players, software and shit are all c**ts to deal with.
Okay, capacitors and mechanical parts break down. Both of which are easy to either replace. You can bypass a majority of mechanical parts (disc trays) with ODEs anyways, which they themselves contain almost no mechanical parts outside of the sd card readers. This only affects disc based consoles too. The point is that these are all easy fixes if you put a little bit of patience and time into learning how. Your consoles aren’t going to magically turn into dust in your life time, and your NES is still going to outlive you if you just keep the capacitors good to go.
If you wanna emulate, go for it. You’re still playing the game. I’m just stating that these consoles aren’t going to break down permanently if you perform minimal maintenance on them every 20-30 years or so.
>Parts are easy to replace >Except for those parts which are impossible to replace >Just bypass them with digital emulation
Just skip using the fricking console lmao

Are you illiterate? I never said any of them were impossible to replace. I said they are all easy to replace you moron. You can replace a disc drive, you can replace a disc drive belt, I only said that there even easier alternatives to replacing those mechanical parts to take them out of the equation all together. It’s easy, but I somehow doubt you can handle it.

Sure it is easy for some people but as time goes on finding parts becomes an utter c**t. As I said I have some pieces of tech that are pretty much unfixable because the parts aren't produced anymore so I have to commission c**ts to cobble together shit to fix them. At a point you are better off just switching digital.

Just reinforcing my point, your dogshit site doesn't mean anything. Some c**t isn't going to go replace a step motor or diode for a game that already runs better on an emulator. The issue isn't even the console it is the entire experience. Someone also isn't going to fix their fricking CRT tv which is the only way to play these games if you are doing the autistic nostalgia shit.
>Parts are easy to replace >Except for those parts which are impossible to replace >Just bypass them with digital emulation
Just skip using the fricking console lmao
NTA but there are people on youtube that have got the literal lunar landing computers working again. Making a fix to a 50 year old Altair computer is literally as simple as replacing a wax capacitor, and it works good as new.
If you end up keeping your console, it'll get picked up and fixed by someone.
>dude just learn to get lunar landing computers to work
I say leave that shit to the archivists. I used to work in cultural heritage conservation (paintings, israeliteellery and shit) and the worst horror stories were people looking after their own shit or 'freelancers' who decided to make money from their 'hobby'.

Archivists know literally nothing about how consumer electronics work and they will never care to get their electronics working again.
The lunar lander is a perfect example, the computer it was put into was hanging on a wall in MIT's museum for the last 60 years with no one bothering to even open it or glance inside of it. Then some kids with a replica of it come by, pull the rope core memory out, and discover that it had an extremely crucial part of mission control inside, a program that calculated spin.
-And you don't NEED to make replicas of it, now, because consumer electronics are as modular as they have ever been. Literally every part has a modern equivalent and it's just a matter of taking it out and replacing it. Even ancient non-used parts like from a commodore have modern recreations of their inner workings.
A few of archivists know about this sort of stuff anon, most archives are full of emeritus professors who spend 3 days at work instead of retiring. This pcbway site is neat though, they seem like a scaled up version of a local service I use. The issue isn't ancient tech it is stuff from the last 30 years. I'm not talking about mass produced stuff though, i'm talking about things made by Quantel or newer tech that just falls into blackholes.
Are zoomers really so afraid of a soldering iron they think the box that plays their games is made of magic and fairies? I just bought a brand new PS2 disk drive because of what exactly you described.
There are hobbyists who fix old radios and TVs that are over 50-100 years old with new modern made vacuum tubes bought off the net. If anything Retro tech from the 80s, 90s, 2000s are gonna be around for decades if not centuries.
Older shit is easy to work on anon, newer shit is a c**t to work on because it has some fricking UV laser etched microprocessor which got hit by a negatively charged ion from the fricking sun and bricked.
>what happens when your machine breaks and the parts aren't available anymore because the children in that sweatshop grew up and they lost that knowledge
this shit makes no sense at all
It isn't difficult to back up the isos for PS2 games. If you aren't running it on genuine hardware (disc rot is a thing that'll come for PS2 games within the next couple of decades), you can just emulate them instead, and moreover you can do it with legally acquired copies of the game if you back them up yourself.
Hi physcialgay here, im already here in the thread [...]

Thats a waste of money for nothing.
that's cool and all
but i don't see a single modern game (2010s or newer) among them.
you know damn well that not even modern physical copies of games, movies and music is safe from corporate overlords destroying your goods
Your discs and consoles will break. My digital stuff is genuinely forever, because I pirate. If you can't back it up, you don't own shit. Just because your restricted, conditionally licensed, DRM'd data is sat on a disc rather than a hard drive makes no real difference to anything.
>My digital stuff is genuinely forever, because I pirate.
Come on guys, you know good and fricking well we are not talking about pirates we are talking about cucks who pay for digital content.
I literally pirate stuff myself see.
Then I pirate like an normal person. The fact that digitalcucks think this is a slam dunk is very funny.

I swear pirates are such homosexuals about pirating, they will jump into a conversion about physical and pay for digital and be defending paying for digital.
There's barely any difference between physical and paid-for digital. You don't get to own your games either way.
That isn't a defence of paid-for digital, it's (rightfully) shitting on physicalgays who think they're above them.
I've started doing that solely because the new generation of homosexuals that get upset about piracy are dumb c**ts and fans of slop like marvel.
A normal person wouldn't get upset about it.

Anon I just let people pick three games and they are all functional. Here is a ps1 game for you
It's the funniest thing to me about internet video game discussions in the 2020s. It's so bizarre to me that so many people who use the internet seriously haven't seen a CD that was made before like 2008 before...
I've wondered if this discourse around disc rot has gotten so widespread because more people from southeast Asia are online now. I'm not trying to do racist shitposts here; I want to say that discrot in that climate just genuinely happens much more often
People have no real concept of how different another region can be. On one of my trips to Singapore I came across a cool store that had a bunch of action figures and old video game systems. The guy had several NGPCs behind the counter. I asked about them as I had wanted one at the time, but he told me that they were all broken; electronics don't last long there due to the humidity. Same shit with discrot.
That's so wild. I first learned of this kind of thing when I heard that VCDs were more popular than VHS for a moment in, I wanna say Malaysia? because of how quickly and easily magnetic tapes would just disintegrate over there.
My 20 year old copy of MegaMan Legends 2 boots up on my PS3. Something very interesting is at the same time in 2020s a "disc rot" meme came and you keep repeating it.
Here's the cold hard truth digital cucks should know. When Playstation Network went down to a hack in the early 2010s, it was offline for 3 months. If you owned a PS3 with digital only lifestyle, you couldn't even redownload anything. If your wife, kid, or sibling deleted a game or your PS3 got memory wiped, you were stuck with a brick and your entire digital library on PS3 was unusable for 3 days. Not so much for a physical gamer chad.
By the way the Xbox 360 store closes this year, the Wii U store closed last year, I wonder how long before the 2013 Xbox One and PS4 have their stores closed. You will own nothing digital only cucks.
I got into PS2 collecting this year. I always thought "damn $100 for a video game that's crazy" then I realized we are at $60 base + $30 DLC and have been for awhile. Plus those games are shit. So it's not so bad.
> I got into PS2 collecting this year
I bought mine at launch, I stopped buying ps2 games when they stopped being made, anything I don’t have I’ll pirate.
I'm not laughing at you, but I'm also not going back to the traditional physical media and ownership you praise. A few HDD backups combined with piracy go a long way.
>TFW when this homosexual spends a lot of money in his collection, and doesnt realise that cds/dvds have expiration dates as they degrade
many of these games are no longer playable
i have never had a CD degrade on me. I've got ps1 CDs that are 30 years old and still in perfect working condition. as long as you're not some third world equatorial living in the satan's sweaty butthole region of the world, and you store your CDs in a cool dry place they last for literally hundreds of years.
Do you imagine I bough these 2nd hand at a stupid price? Also im posting evidence that they still work. I’ve had more drives fail on me than I have ever had disks.
>having all broken games in disk without updates instead of having the GOTY version pirated on PC
No game released after 2014 is complete, some of them are not even on disk, you have to download it. For retrogames, it works...well...until the disc rot plage start to frick you up. At least I have two copies of all my games and I know I'll never lose them.
When the frick was the last time you could even buy shit via the PSN? 2019? 2020? Also when the frick was the PSN last up to date with releases 2017?? Are motherfrickers seriously crying over shit they bought and watched once like 8 years ago? You frickheads probably forgot you even bought it via the PSN because streaming services are the majority of how people watch things now.
I recently rewatched Symphogear and if I wasn't a piratechad and lost my anime that I PAID for I'd be fricking pissed. Don't go to bat for these yellow israelites. You can Could've Should've Didn't all you want but it's no excuse for their shekelgrubbing behavior.
>inb4 physicalgays showing up to laugh at digitalcucks
the problem isn't that it's digital, the problem is that it's either a streaming service (aka "not yours") and shit that contains DRM (aka "not entirely yours").
Also, most modern "physical" games are just a download code inside a box that forces you to sign up to download or play the game. That service definitely won't last forever, and thus isn't yours.
These games also contain DRM most of the time because they're games-as-a-service crap.
Hi physcialgay here, im already here in the thread
>TFW i remember all of the digital cucks who made fun of me saying that this shit would happen.
I actually agree digital would be find if we had any level of consumer protection or right to products we purchased, but we dont in the digital world, and that will never change at this point.
Impressive collection, but i hope you know how to replace the battery on those cartridges, all my snes games batteries are dead now.
All those 100% savegames, lost, forever.
>Sue them
I always like how one guy throws this out there thinking lawsuits are something magical that instantly fixes things. But in reality it's more likely to bankrupt you because modern legal disputes are more or less settled before they begin by who has more capital to burn in legal jargon
As if Disney, Universal Studios, Sony and other big corpos didn't pump billions and billions into bribing the senate to pass laws that protect them from any harm.
suing is your only options. what other choice realistically do you have? stalking executives and running them over with your car? if suing doesn't work then you're moronic to give those people your money in the first place. either way, crying about it online won't change anything.
As if Disney, Universal Studios, Sony and other big corpos didn't pump billions and billions into bribing the senate to pass laws that protect them from any harm.
My GOG installer is working fine and stored on a NAS, a storage system with redundancy.
It's doesn't care about the devs or even GOG going bankrupt / being dicks and shutting down their servers.
everything pre-PS3 (arguably 4) era that isn't already lost media never will be, we won't lose access to any actual old shit and this goes double for stuff like anime, film, etc. This will definitely be an issue going forward though considering how hard publishers are trying to israelite everyone out of actually owning anything at all. If you buy from Sony, that's on you.
Crunchyroll has been in downward spiral for last 7 years since they replaced their technical staff with Moldovans. They went from being one of the best streaming platforms with the best clients to shit. For last 7 years, features were removed or broke, quality has been decreased, availability has gotten worse. Broken videos, missing/wrong subtitles dont get fixed for months if ever.
10 years ago, their Roku client was the best client on the platform at the time and still to this day would be good. It was better than Netflix, Hulu, etc. For paying customers they offered higher bitrate streaming. It was pretty convenient, there was zero reason to pirate anything on Crunchyroll then. Now they have some pajeet tier client that doesnt even match most Anime show use cases that is shoe horned in.
this probably only affects crunchy/funi stuff atm, but I wonder if this will snowball into sony trying to close up PS3 psn stuff again, they’ve been real quiet since everybody shouted that down a few years ago
My PS2 keeps making grinding noises and takes time to read any discs I put in it, it works after I wait a bit but its something thats never happened with previous ones. Any ideas?
The slim models have a small tape in the optical reader that moves the reader up and down... sometimes this tape can come up and start scratching the discs you put on.
I lost a bunch of media due to this... hopefully all the DVDs I had were pirated copies I burned myself.
One Piece was good until they went 16:9
You can really tell how fricking trash and cheap all new episodes with their "animation" are, it's just close up shots of faces for 10 min.
toei is generally trash and prioritises consistent workflow over good quality, but that has nothing to do with 16:9 in itself
people give digital 4:3 a pass for poor animation and art quality because it's nostalgic for those born in the late 90s and early 2000s, and thus the expectations aren't as high as those for cel-animated 4:3 (due to survivorship bias and how romanticised that era is with new anime fans) or modern digital 16:9 anime
>mutt reading comprehension skills
I said in the literal subsequent sentence that you don't need to own shit, just pirate and emulate, you are completely justified to do so
The worst part about this is that so many casuals will not care, they might find it odd or even upsetting at best but they will not stop buying Playsations or games for them. Theres something with these people that would probably be worth studying.
Accessible "forever" until a change in the licensing happens. Then the company has to license shit again in all countries that service is available, depending on the country they also have to renew the dub too or negotiate a new fee for VAs.
TL;DR: Avoid buying digital media whenever possible.
And no one will call them out on this because every person who should care has invested too heavily in praising them for gay flags and prog gaming like this amorphous blob who will complain every week about conservachud Xbox instead.
You own nothing, but at least that flag has the right pride colors
what anime fan even likes funimation or crunchyroll? I seriously can't comprehend how they are still running. Those 2 companies have been ruining anime in the West for years.
Literally the first result I get on a normie web browser like Edge after searching for "(insert anime here) free" is 9Anime, a free anime streaming service. Even the most moronic Black person normal gay can find this shit
If you're a moral gay and feel bad about piracy just buy the manga or some merch instead of paying for a streaming service. Will probably help the mangaka more
>what anime fan even likes funimation or crunchyroll?
Do you use Nyaa or streaming to download any subs whatsoever the day a show is released?
If so, then your medium depends on funimation and crunchyroll because they poached almost 100% of fansubbers years ago. Almost all speedsubs are just stealing the crunchyroll transcripts and putting them into higher quality transcodes.
I haven't day 1 watched in years and only use Nyaa for obscure anime that's not on streaming sites and manga.
I get that subs are taken from funimation but that still isn't a reason to give them money. I'd rather see them die and have crappy AI translation or wait for a few months for decent fansubs
Zoomers are as terrified of computers as boomers are and if it's not an app it doesn't exist in their world
I understand this for piracy, morons would definitely end up on some shit piracy site like pirate bay and download malware.
Streaming is different, if you can look up porn, you can stream Anime for free. I'm sure every Zoomer knows how to find porn
It's about "SUPPORRING THE INDUSTRY" to zoomers. Also, they're too moronic to figure out torrenting whenever their favorite streaming site gets shut down
I still buy physical media. When they finally make that market extinct and there's no weird chinese manufacturer spitting out new blu ray players and all my discs finally die in fifty years, then I'll just pirate. But I'll hold onto normalcy as long as I can, I remember when the world was better.
This is why you're morally justified to make backup copies of anything you buy, and you have a moral imperative to break and circumvent any DRM that comes your way. If you don't even own the things you buy, and companies can just revoke them on a whim, then you're nothing but a slave. No wonder they're trying to leak this into every industry, with fridges and cars and even toaster ovens that require subscription services.
I don't mind digital libraries. I don't need to physically own something to be happy. If you do need ownership of a physical item to be happy then I legitimately feel sorry for you as life is going to be very painful for you if your joy is tied to purely physical things.
But, while I don't mind digital libraries because they have massive advantages over physical collections. Less clutter and cleaner looking home, less plastic in the world, can't be scratched or broken. Digital is truly the best way to collect just about everything.
However I think we've crossed into an era where we need a digital products regulation/law that must be adhered to. Especially for gaming and film.
1. All digital media must be able to be used offline.
2. All digital media must either have a lifetime guarantee or a specific expiration date. If there is an expiration date it cannot be buried in the TOS. It must be plainly and openly stated
3.Only media that features a lifetime guarantee can be sold for full price. Any item with an expiration date must be capped at 30 USD or less.
I wonder how this random guy from some stock photo feels about being the face of this movement. Also makes me wonder how Harold feels about his face being a meme.
I guess it's OK because sony are the ones doing it. If this was Nintendo or Microsoft, the catalog would be nothing but threads about how they are the most evil companies in the world and be filled with yellow soijaks.
That only works for art forms that are actually physical like vinyls and books.
For shit that comes in optical disks and SD cards, you're just paying for fancy packaging that has nothing to do with the product itself.
Here you go, I have to head out, remember homosexual who use disk rot as an attack on physical media are fricking coping homosexuals. If it wasn’t for physical media gays you wouldn’t be able to download these games in OG state.
I hate to say it but I love stories like this because the all digital crowd needs to understand where they’re taking us. I buy physical for pretty much everything. Music is the only form of media that I only buy my favorites physically just because of how easily accessible it is. Whether it’s games, books, comics, movies, tv shows, I always go physical as much as possible.
I'm honestly pretty surprised that piracy is still so easy to get away with. I don't expect it to continue to be this way into the 30s and 40s, so I've spent the last few years hoarding my favorite stuff on external drives.
search engines and filesharing sites used to make music piracy moronic fricking easy
the pirate bay has a lot of older stuff but the quality is often youtube-rip tier
I know, I 'member. I used to use Demonoid and The Pirate Bay all the time back then. Search engines are so much worse in general now than they used to be, too
>disc rot
everything rots
especially as more zoomers with their phones that don't understand file formats and compression keep re-saving and re-converting images and videos to reupload to social media to save and reconvert them to reupload to another social media as websites try to enforce filesizes and file formats and push for new formats to to save a few more pennies a day on bandwidth (thanks google for webp)

I'm not advocating for anything breaking, just saying that AI can fix that
>Sony gets pseudomonopoly(basically every anime simulcast outside of whatever Netflix and Amazon bother to license) >immediately raises prices and deletes digital libraries from the company they acquired
Can't wait to see what bullshit they get up to when they don't even have to pretend to make a competitive video game platform. They already raised PSN subscription prices anyway.
If it makes you feel better, even without competition sony is burning bridges left and right. Look how many flops they've released, and they're now forced to resort to constant remakes and remasters and gussied up ports. I gave Nintendo heat for porting WiiU games over to the Switch, but FFS that feels like generosity compared to them remaking TLOU 5 times in a single generation.
This is why physical copies and pirated media will always be king.
While physical copies of new games are basically useless because you have to download a 50gb day 1 patch other media like movies and music are still a viable option.
It becomes more and more important to save the media you love because big corpos want to take it all away and sell it under their own conditions.
Save media, distribute media and help other people learn how to pirate.
Digital distribution itself is not what's wrong here, it's DRM and the pure cuckoldry in buying a license to stream shit, instead of just buying the media file itself.
Even the greedy israelites at Apple have the decency to give me the fricking mp3 file if I buy a song through iTunes. I don't understand how nobody bats an eye when israelitegle or some other company forever attaches a movie to their own services.

Welcome to capitalism.
communists should unironically be killed, as their fascist cousins were
>all these replies talking about le communism to deflect capitalism problems
You know you can both hate communism AND capitalism shit, right?
RIGHT?
>You know you can both hate communism AND capitalism shit, right?
No you can't, anything else is just communism with a different skin.
economics are fake and gay only morality and religion matter
should of have read the TOS chud ( even though it was a different company back then)
>TFW i remember all of the digital cucks who made fun of me saying that this shit would happen.
The .hack games being split into multiple disks was always a massive scam but good lord the box art is soulful.
what happens when your machine breaks and the parts aren't available anymore because the children in that sweatshop grew up and they lost that knowledge.
>breaks
doesnt happen if you aren't a moron
>Law of thermodynamics doesn't apply because my brain is so big
>take a break every X minutes LIKE YOU ARE TOLD EVERY FRICKING CONSOLE in the past
>hurr law of thermodynamics
>Taking a break will insure your diode will last forever
inb4 you explain that you will never up 50,000 hours into your console because it is for 'preservation'
Then I pirate like an normal person. The fact that digitalcucks think this is a slam dunk is very funny.
this works both ways though
>physical library destroyed
I pirate
>digital library taken away
I pirate
not aproblem for simple consoles but I'll admit this might become a problem for the PS3 and up
you realize people can still play on the fricking odyssey right?
What games are people playing on the odyssey anon?
Demon Attack was a lot of fun.
My dad liked Football and Table Tennis.
HELL YEAH
EMULATORS, BABY
LETS FRICKING GO
>anon in shambles
If you wanna emulate, go for it. You’re still playing the game. I’m just stating that these consoles aren’t going to break down permanently if you perform minimal maintenance on them every 20-30 years or so.
>Parts are easy to replace
>Except for those parts which are impossible to replace
>Just bypass them with digital emulation
Just skip using the fricking console lmao
Are you illiterate? I never said any of them were impossible to replace. I said they are all easy to replace you moron. You can replace a disc drive, you can replace a disc drive belt, I only said that there even easier alternatives to replacing those mechanical parts to take them out of the equation all together. It’s easy, but I somehow doubt you can handle it.
Him acknowledging that these devices can be repaired destroys his narrative, duh.
Sure it is easy for some people but as time goes on finding parts becomes an utter c**t. As I said I have some pieces of tech that are pretty much unfixable because the parts aren't produced anymore so I have to commission c**ts to cobble together shit to fix them. At a point you are better off just switching digital.
Console5.com
Please only argue if you know what you’re talking about.
Even ancient non-used parts like from a commodore have modern recreations of their inner workings.
https://www.pcbway.com/project/shareproject/The_C64_250407_replica.html
A few of archivists know about this sort of stuff anon, most archives are full of emeritus professors who spend 3 days at work instead of retiring. This pcbway site is neat though, they seem like a scaled up version of a local service I use. The issue isn't ancient tech it is stuff from the last 30 years. I'm not talking about mass produced stuff though, i'm talking about things made by Quantel or newer tech that just falls into blackholes.
>XD
have a nice day
>people abandoning the retro market when it sells like hotcakes
you're a grade A moron
>Has zero reading comprehension
>Calls other people morons
And all to bandwagon on you r/speedrunning favourite streamer
Are zoomers really so afraid of a soldering iron they think the box that plays their games is made of magic and fairies? I just bought a brand new PS2 disk drive because of what exactly you described.
why would i bother resoldering my console or buying a new disc drive when i can install pcsx2
There are hobbyists who fix old radios and TVs that are over 50-100 years old with new modern made vacuum tubes bought off the net. If anything Retro tech from the 80s, 90s, 2000s are gonna be around for decades if not centuries.
Older shit is easy to work on anon, newer shit is a c**t to work on because it has some fricking UV laser etched microprocessor which got hit by a negatively charged ion from the fricking sun and bricked.
>microprocessor which got hit by a negatively charged ion from the fricking sun and bricked
thats what the shield is for you moronic Black person
NTA but I ripped all my ps1 and PS2 games into ISO's years ago.
>what happens when your machine breaks and the parts aren't available anymore because the children in that sweatshop grew up and they lost that knowledge
this shit makes no sense at all
Technology is dying all the time dude, look at COBOL coding
My dad makes a living coding in COBOL for banks, man
+ that sweetshop exemple is still gibberish, thats not how things work at all
uh, you put a CD in your computer, pirate the correlating content, burn it onto the CD, and pop it into the case?
It isn't difficult to back up the isos for PS2 games. If you aren't running it on genuine hardware (disc rot is a thing that'll come for PS2 games within the next couple of decades), you can just emulate them instead, and moreover you can do it with legally acquired copies of the game if you back them up yourself.
that's cool and all
but i don't see a single modern game (2010s or newer) among them.
you know damn well that not even modern physical copies of games, movies and music is safe from corporate overlords destroying your goods
>PS5
>owning games
pick one
Every game in that image can be played without an internet connection from the start.
Switch boxes are soulless.
>Modern game
Not worth playing unironically
Your discs and consoles will break. My digital stuff is genuinely forever, because I pirate. If you can't back it up, you don't own shit. Just because your restricted, conditionally licensed, DRM'd data is sat on a disc rather than a hard drive makes no real difference to anything.
>My digital stuff is genuinely forever, because I pirate.
Come on guys, you know good and fricking well we are not talking about pirates we are talking about cucks who pay for digital content.
I literally pirate stuff myself see.
>80% of those game are unplayable due to natural disc rot
What is a M-disc? Beside disc rot only happens when the disc is exposed to sun light
>rots
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Real game preservation is pirating everything and storing them in hard drives and private cloud services.
I swear pirates are such homosexuals about pirating, they will jump into a conversion about physical and pay for digital and be defending paying for digital.
>t. also a pirategay
There's barely any difference between physical and paid-for digital. You don't get to own your games either way.
That isn't a defence of paid-for digital, it's (rightfully) shitting on physicalgays who think they're above them.
>There's barely any difference between physical and paid-for digital.
fricking kek
Pirates are genuinely the dumbest frickers alive.
I've started doing that solely because the new generation of homosexuals that get upset about piracy are dumb c**ts and fans of slop like marvel.
A normal person wouldn't get upset about it.
Was DDS always sold as a double pack? Damn that is one sexy box.
The box came with the vol 1 if you bought it at launch.
80% of those game are unplayable due to natural disc rot
Every one of those games are playable, name one and I will go start it up right now
lol this anon called out this gay
and he ran and hid
DDR Extreme 2. Play it now
Good, now try Tales of Abyss
Now Tales of Legendia
hell yeah
I can do one more before I have to head out make it count
SWTOR or the original starcraft 2... cmon you have the PHYSICAL copy dont you
I do actually but this was about an anon saying that 80% of my PS2 games are rotted to unplayable.
Oh I guess those items are in the image kek. I actually agree buying PC games physical after like the 90s is a bad move and I pirate all my pc game now. So touché
The pc games are also rotted and so are the ps1 discs
Anon I just let people pick three games and they are all functional. Here is a ps1 game for you
There are discs from the 80s that still work just fine. Disc rot is way overplayed by digitalcucks.
You will own nothing digital only cucks.
>posts a library that's entirely available digitally on PC
???
PS2 emulation is cucked.
It's been fine for the past couple years, just switch to the nightly instead of the stable.
I used to think that about retro games, which is why I pirated and chip modded every place I could.
Now I collect the originals of at least the things I like.
I-I would like to carry several of your children inside of me...
Boys can’t get pregnant
Who said anything about me getting pregnant? The room is gonna smell like shit for a while though.
I'm not laughing at you, but I'm also not going back to the traditional physical media and ownership you praise. A few HDD backups combined with piracy go a long way.
Based af. Imagine how wet women get when they enter and see this BPC (Big Physical Collection)
what will you do when your consoles die 10-20 years from now?
.. emulate. like I do today.
>sc2 and its fricking dlc addon online only btw 🙂
You've been a homosexual longer than you can remember, long live brood war
Also
>PRESENTING SWTOR UNIRONICALLY
AHAHAHAHAHAH fantastic bait my friend heres another (You)
>TFW when this homosexual spends a lot of money in his collection, and doesnt realise that cds/dvds have expiration dates as they degrade
many of these games are no longer playable
i have never had a CD degrade on me. I've got ps1 CDs that are 30 years old and still in perfect working condition. as long as you're not some third world equatorial living in the satan's sweaty butthole region of the world, and you store your CDs in a cool dry place they last for literally hundreds of years.
My original release of Planescape Torment is no longer working. It was up on the shelve in mint condition.
It feels bad man.
Do you imagine I bough these 2nd hand at a stupid price? Also im posting evidence that they still work. I’ve had more drives fail on me than I have ever had disks.
Same here. I bought some of Funimation's Bluray sets. I never bothered to use the digital code. I was always fine with just watching the disc.
>having all broken games in disk without updates instead of having the GOTY version pirated on PC
No game released after 2014 is complete, some of them are not even on disk, you have to download it. For retrogames, it works...well...until the disc rot plage start to frick you up. At least I have two copies of all my games and I know I'll never lose them.
Nothing stops me from downloading stuff and burning it into a disk.
he can't keep getting away with it
Do you still have the Geralt's head plaster cast?
Okay, when it will happen?
It's been over 20 years
I'm talking about entire library that is
>digital devil saga box set
I kneel
Nah, my sails have always been raised and the waters are clear.
the fact that to prevent this you either have to torrent what you want or read 50 pages of an eula just makes piracy 10x more appealing
piracy is the free market correcting itself
the only thing to fear is the lucrative merger between corporation and state
>read 50 pages of an eula
what? how much are you exaggerating?
pirate chads stay winning
indeed
and yet you will have morons claiming digital is good
>unlimited files on my pc is bad
moron
Digital is more convenient but not necessarily better
When the frick was the last time you could even buy shit via the PSN? 2019? 2020? Also when the frick was the PSN last up to date with releases 2017?? Are motherfrickers seriously crying over shit they bought and watched once like 8 years ago? You frickheads probably forgot you even bought it via the PSN because streaming services are the majority of how people watch things now.
Please
read
more
than
the
headline
>Please
Stopped reading right there.
So the sub headline? There isn't an article linked so the frick do you expect anyone to read?
I mean the sub headline would have told the homosexual that it has nothing to do with PSN.
I recently rewatched Symphogear and if I wasn't a piratechad and lost my anime that I PAID for I'd be fricking pissed. Don't go to bat for these yellow israelites. You can Could've Should've Didn't all you want but it's no excuse for their shekelgrubbing behavior.
>If you haven't used something you own in 8 years it's ok to steal it
>if someone hasn't had time to go to their vacation home in a while, anyone can just move in
>inb4 physicalgays showing up to laugh at digitalcucks
the problem isn't that it's digital, the problem is that it's either a streaming service (aka "not yours") and shit that contains DRM (aka "not entirely yours").
Also, most modern "physical" games are just a download code inside a box that forces you to sign up to download or play the game. That service definitely won't last forever, and thus isn't yours.
These games also contain DRM most of the time because they're games-as-a-service crap.
Hi physcialgay here, im already here in the thread
I actually agree digital would be find if we had any level of consumer protection or right to products we purchased, but we dont in the digital world, and that will never change at this point.
Thats a waste of money for nothing.
Sovl...
Impressive collection, but i hope you know how to replace the battery on those cartridges, all my snes games batteries are dead now.
All those 100% savegames, lost, forever.
I’ve backed up my saves, funny enough my Pokémon blue battery is still going
>jrpgs with western localization cartridges
Absolutely worthless
homosexual
I didn’t buy that version.
>homosexual >>>:~~*((
Yeah, cry me a river moron.
>:~~*((
>Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age
I love you, anon
you can just like, you know, sue them
>Sue them
I always like how one guy throws this out there thinking lawsuits are something magical that instantly fixes things. But in reality it's more likely to bankrupt you because modern legal disputes are more or less settled before they begin by who has more capital to burn in legal jargon
suing is your only options. what other choice realistically do you have? stalking executives and running them over with your car? if suing doesn't work then you're moronic to give those people your money in the first place. either way, crying about it online won't change anything.
just pirate dumbass
> what other choice realistically do you have? stalking executives and running them over with your car?
Uh
yeah?
Would you like a crash course in the political history of France?
>LETS SUE THEM
lol
lmao
As if Disney, Universal Studios, Sony and other big corpos didn't pump billions and billions into bribing the senate to pass laws that protect them from any harm.
>digtal losers btfo!!111
My GOG installer is working fine and stored on a NAS, a storage system with redundancy.
It's doesn't care about the devs or even GOG going bankrupt / being dicks and shutting down their servers.
everything pre-PS3 (arguably 4) era that isn't already lost media never will be, we won't lose access to any actual old shit and this goes double for stuff like anime, film, etc. This will definitely be an issue going forward though considering how hard publishers are trying to israelite everyone out of actually owning anything at all. If you buy from Sony, that's on you.
>If you buy from Sony, that's on you.
dont pretend nintendo or microshit isn't the same
gog isnt
>animes
Piracy will return stronger than before.
Where exactly, in the TOS, did it ever say "you can access this forever and ever no matter what" ?
Good, way to rally piracy you shitheads.
Pretty much everything Crunchyroll has done in the last 3 years since their funi buyout has pushed more people to go back to piracy
Crunchyroll has been in downward spiral for last 7 years since they replaced their technical staff with Moldovans. They went from being one of the best streaming platforms with the best clients to shit. For last 7 years, features were removed or broke, quality has been decreased, availability has gotten worse. Broken videos, missing/wrong subtitles dont get fixed for months if ever.
>being one of the best streaming platforms
and here i thought they always did the "give us money to see the new episode a week early" bullshit.
Not my problem
And how many games have you pirated?
My PS2 keeps making grinding noises and takes time to read any discs I put in it, it works after I wait a bit but its something thats never happened with previous ones. Any ideas?
thats the sound it makes when it produces mustard gas. throw it out soon or you will die
The slim models have a small tape in the optical reader that moves the reader up and down... sometimes this tape can come up and start scratching the discs you put on.
I lost a bunch of media due to this... hopefully all the DVDs I had were pirated copies I burned myself.
>animes
>4:3 a pass for poor animation and art quality because it's nostalgic
you couldn't be more wrong show me trash one piece 4:3 animation
no, i don't watch one shit and never will
i accept your concession
>One Piece was good
no
>Dude just become an electrical engineer to play your games even though you can emulate them
>mutt reading comprehension skills
I said in the literal subsequent sentence that you don't need to own shit, just pirate and emulate, you are completely justified to do so
>Read my 40 lines of contradiction
>better off being a pirate
>literally one piece in the article
the jokes write themselves
The worst part about this is that so many casuals will not care, they might find it odd or even upsetting at best but they will not stop buying Playsations or games for them. Theres something with these people that would probably be worth studying.
Accessible "forever" until a change in the licensing happens. Then the company has to license shit again in all countries that service is available, depending on the country they also have to renew the dub too or negotiate a new fee for VAs.
TL;DR: Avoid buying digital media whenever possible.
Mindbroken troony.
Thats a very weak rebuttal.
>Buy game
>Money stolen
I understand this for piracy, morons would definitely end up on some shit piracy site like pirate bay and download malware.
Streaming is different, if you can look up porn, you can stream Anime for free. I'm sure every Zoomer knows how to find porn
Zoomers are as terrified of computers as boomers are and if it's not an app it doesn't exist in their world
It's about "SUPPORRING THE INDUSTRY" to zoomers. Also, they're too moronic to figure out torrenting whenever their favorite streaming site gets shut down
Looks like complete dog shit on those free websites. But your average anime viewer won't know the difference.
I've seen them argue it looks better, even.
According to some chick I was trying to frick, streaming Sailor Moon is objectively better than the BDs.
I still buy physical media. When they finally make that market extinct and there's no weird chinese manufacturer spitting out new blu ray players and all my discs finally die in fifty years, then I'll just pirate. But I'll hold onto normalcy as long as I can, I remember when the world was better.
SO IS IT JUST ANIME OR WHAT
It’s just anime, but if we don’t raise a fuss it will move industries
Weird, I thought I didn't own anything on PC
why does anyone care? With piracy you can play whatever you want without paying shit.
>year 2024 and homies ain't pirating their anime
i'm black and 26 and i've been pirating since i was 6. it's that fricking easy.
>i'm black
why?
because white people made a mistake a few hundred years ago.
Several, in fact
the mistake was having sex with my great grandmother, to be clear. she was not an attractive woman in looks or personality, as i have been told.
>white
>the whites have now found a way to deflect blame from themselves onto israelites for slavery
it never ends
Die, rat.
Let me guess, your okay with eating ze protein from bugs too?
>anon unironically believes this
what's it like living in a blissful state of delusion and ignorance? how do i become more like you?
the store is still running tho
yeah, the store where all the games are $70 year-round, whereas they used to be $60. who's the israelite in your gay little comic again?
What the frick are you talking about, they never upped PS3 game prices to $70.
>PS3 game prices
well duh, you can't put a price on something that doesn't exist.
All subscription services are cancer. It’s still possible to get zoomers to push back. Vinyl got popular again, physical books got popular again
>Pirate media
>Media is completely under control on your own hard drives and can be copied and transferred easily
Media = Owned
When your version of Windows has built in AI it'll scan your computer for contraband and automatically delete it + file a lawsuit.
windows? are you gay or what
I wonder how this random guy from some stock photo feels about being the face of this movement. Also makes me wonder how Harold feels about his face being a meme.
Imagine paying someone to rent data without a plan to take theywrnm data.
I guess it's OK because sony are the ones doing it. If this was Nintendo or Microsoft, the catalog would be nothing but threads about how they are the most evil companies in the world and be filled with yellow soijaks.
if you've ever spent money on anime you deserve your money stolen
My anime is still fine? Why is my money stolen?
>Escaflowne
nice
isn't that about streaming, rather than downloaded media?
No people are losing access to media they purchased independently from the streaming service
sure, but is the extra purchased media streamed or downloaded?
>anime
You children get what you deserve.
Manga is where established adult men derive their pleasure.
dude just buy physical media of what you truly love and for the rest get a huge drive and have rest saved on it for rest of your life
That only works for art forms that are actually physical like vinyls and books.
For shit that comes in optical disks and SD cards, you're just paying for fancy packaging that has nothing to do with the product itself.
>purchase something
>they steal it from you when they feel like it
Sony Black folk will defend this.
just don't buy it then. if they can steal from you, you can steal from them.
dipshit or bot? take your bets, anons.
Is there anyway to download from FUNimation? There's got to be some way to download stuff you like.
Crunchyroll lets subscribers download videos, but I have yet to find anything that can really beat nyaa.si or, in my youth, kissanime
just like all the cloud bullshit
NOT YOUR HARD DRIVE
this is why piracy is morally good and acceptable
Anyone else wanna call out a game on the shelf to prove to me my disk are all rotten before I leave?
Shin Megami Tensei 3.
Here you go, I have to head out, remember homosexual who use disk rot as an attack on physical media are fricking coping homosexuals. If it wasn’t for physical media gays you wouldn’t be able to download these games in OG state.
oh, i didn't even see nocturne on the shelf. i was hoping for a "don't have that one" so i could say "there's your problem."
Your TV will die way before the disk, good luck getting that fixed
Yeah I do agree with that, it’s already showing some burnin, but I’ve had it since I was 19. Luckily I think the upscaller in the ps3 is pretty good.
>Using Crunchyroll
>Paying FOR anything related to Crunchyroll
I have no sympathy for any of these people.
Piratechads win again
Oh no, morons dumb enough to pay for videos of poorly translated animu are getting fricked over. But you were heckin' good goys!
>I buy
See, you already fricked up.
lol
all suns must set
if you give a frick you rotate hard drive duplicates
AI can fix this
>replacing original information with made up, incorrect information
I hope you die first. Photography is at the worst it's ever been in decades because of phonehomosexualry.
AI can fix that
AI is already the cause of that specific image.
there are different kinds of AIs
>break something that was already fine so you can solve it with another technology that is still artificial generation
I bet you unironically shill for DLSS and frame generation because you fell for the 4k gaming meme.
I'm not advocating for anything breaking, just saying that AI can fix that
>Sony gets pseudomonopoly(basically every anime simulcast outside of whatever Netflix and Amazon bother to license)
>immediately raises prices and deletes digital libraries from the company they acquired
Can't wait to see what bullshit they get up to when they don't even have to pretend to make a competitive video game platform. They already raised PSN subscription prices anyway.
Is Sony straight up the most evil company in video games right now?
>he thought he could possess 1's and 0's traveling at light speed in cyber space
lol, u got played. moron
This is why we need competition. Xbox isn't even dead and PS already is making shit.
If it makes you feel better, even without competition sony is burning bridges left and right. Look how many flops they've released, and they're now forced to resort to constant remakes and remasters and gussied up ports. I gave Nintendo heat for porting WiiU games over to the Switch, but FFS that feels like generosity compared to them remaking TLOU 5 times in a single generation.
>digital libraries
>accessible forever
Everyone who isn't terminally online knows that shit was never real.
NMP
This is why physical copies and pirated media will always be king.
While physical copies of new games are basically useless because you have to download a 50gb day 1 patch other media like movies and music are still a viable option.
It becomes more and more important to save the media you love because big corpos want to take it all away and sell it under their own conditions.
Save media, distribute media and help other people learn how to pirate.
If buying isn't owning, then piracy isn't stealing.
>that picture
How else will your audience know this is bad news?
Does that include all the ones I downloaded with PS Plus?
stay mad xgays, we won 🙂
>we won
cope harder
Only virgins would take physical bloat over digital.
Then why do I have a kid and you are a kissless?
>buying dubs
>buying digital copies of dubs
lol. lmao even. if you still buy digital, you're hopeless.
Get owned animegays. It's time to grow up and quit liking gay shit.
who knew?
But my based japan would never do this!?
Where's Sony's headquarters?
based sony charging you for roms they took from the internet
HOW TO PIRATE SHIT
1. get a vpn like proton or mullvad
2. get a good torrenter, use qbittorrent
3. get firefox + ublock origin + change your dns settings
(https://mullvad.net/en/help/dns-over-https-and-dns-over-tls)
4. tread the land that your allies return from (aka use trustworthy links and leave the scavenging to people who know what they're doing)
5. stay smart stay safe - if a torrent has a bunch of seeds that means it's very trustworthy
6. remember to jam to RiveR - Solo whenever possible
pirate chads win once again
