He's already adding moronic shit like global dungeon access because too shameless to just add a warper npc, so if you play the game and do quests to access certain dungeons you'll get fricked when they become open for everyone.
All this without mentioning the server is plagued with trooncord homosexuals who can't play for shit and just cause drama to everyone.
The dev is adding an achievements system where you can get points by completing objectives. Once enough points have been gained globally, it'll unlock access to certain dungeons (meaning you won't have to do the quest to access them).
Some players complained about the choice of dungeons, and the dev changed which ones in response. One poster has been seething and crying and shitting his pants about this for hours straight, it's pretty hilarious.
You don't. It doesn't hurt you at all. If anything it just means you'd have more people to party with in those areas. You still get exp for doing the quests, too.
It's a MMO, you trade items with other people and your items you worked to access just tanked in value.

Socketing was added around Episode 11
RagnaGanker will be Episode 13.2, which was the episode where Ash Vacuum / New World was first added with a few quests and limited areas. Renewal jobs didn't come until much later in 13.2. Most servers implement 13.2 as sort of the official "end-point" for Pre-renewal.
Episode 13.3 was El Dicastes, which added a bunch of broken gear and where Renewal jobs had already been in the game for a few months.

People don't really like them because they are bastardized versions, basically keknewal stuff added "early" which is why they have weird placeholder stats which are completely overtuned, like say 10.000 flat ATK (in renewal the mobs are completely normal with the right stats). On some servers all the mobs (normal mobs) even have fricking auras because they are above lvl 99, lmao.
And they do drop a lot of BiS gear, which is aggravated by the fact that they're easy to kill (they're just normal mobs at the end of the day even if they have meme stats), by comparison the pre-re BiS gear that is just one episode earlier would be much harder to acquire.
A good example of that is shields for Shield Boom. Episode 12 the best one is Cross Shield acquired from a powerful endgame mob that you can't really solo farm. Then New World adds Bradium Shield which is WAY stronger and is dropped by a dumb slow golem that does nothing (at quite the high chance).
Nydhog meanwhile drops the best garment in the game by far, and it's piss-easy to do.

RO doesn't have a perfect endgame but WoE is a unique activity and if its actually fun to you it can make you keep playing forever, there's a reason its the lifeblood of most pservers
Then there's PVM which technically doesn't really have an endgame, however the "journey" is actually long and varied enough for it to be good entertainment for quite a while. For example, it's not just grinding levels, you're also collecting tons of gear from places that sometimes require very different classes, on top of that farming MVPs.. A giga tryhard with a 50 man guild might be done in a few weeks but for the average player there is usually something to do for a decently long time.
It is kind of crazy how ROgays never have any idea what they're talking about with ToS. Even on launch you had competitive world bosses and Earth tower as end game activities. People just got filtered, they would get their "Good enough" gear and quit.

Lag and Korean Programming(tm) are fixable, the fundamental design flaws are not, unless you just lift ToS assets and make an actually good game with them.

ToS had some nice ideas, but I think the reason most people ever touched it was the graphics and artstyle.

It was a good try but ultimately the gaming industry and korean MMOs in general have changed and there is no going back. Nor is there a way to ever fund or create a new MMO that doesn't mirror the worst practices of korean MMOs, because that's what makes money. The devs and their publishers will always prefer money over a vision.

WoE needs at least 5-6 regular guilds to be fun. No server has enough PvPchads to gather critical mass. The closest I had was a now defunct russian server that actually gathered a decent crowd.

Yeah, #main is usually pretty friendly with helping newbies. It'll also have resets so you can fix your build if you frick it up.
Ragnarok is a great game, if you have never got into it and like medieval shit just make a Swordsman then Knight then rebirth then Lord Knight. They are fun and can use a lot of weapons.
Or Assassin like every other edgy pvpgay, these and Monk / Champion tend to be the meta for PvP. Nevermind just ignore me, all classes got their busted ass strengths except maybe Whitesmith.

Ragnarok is difficult to make because the sprites are so soulful and they are classic but tasteful re-imagining of mythical creatures that appear on RPGs. They didnt do it in a generic way.
Tree of Flop tried this which is why it got hype.
But it fricked up by trying to appease separate audiences (Grindcore vs Questcore vs Raidcore) and made the class system way too obnoxious.
The most frustrating thing about that game is the wasted potential.

A lot of the endgame MVPs are more annoying than fun because they just started giving them literally every skill in the game to prevent them from being cheesed

Fist was a mistake. It needed a global 50% less damage to MvPs It's weird they hit bio but not champs.
Just make fist and acid demo actually reduced by armor defense. They can make the skills do 10-20% more raw damage but make it so hard defense is actually worth something against trans classes. Lord Knights would instantly become a viable class which would massively shake up the meta on mid-population servers.
What do I play if I have no idea what I'm doing and want to play something that solos well and is generically useful? I've never played a Knight before and was thinking of that, but I guess it'd be kind of gear dependent to start with on a new server with no economy. How do you even build Knights now? Is everything BB because of the removal of gutters?

Knights usually either go SVD for Bowling Bash or Pierce builds. You can also go AGI Knight if you want a lazy left click build but it won't be quite as good in parties as the others.
Yeah when I've played RO again previously I've always just gone Hunter or Wizard because they're stupidly strong with virtually no gear required. If I'm going to bother again I want to try something different. I think Knight, but maybe Alchemist. I guess Monk is a safe choice between different and braindead, you could easily sustain endless meme click farming as combo with an EPT buckler and once you get enough gear just reset into an optimized asura build for boss farming

LK is perfectly fine despite what people say, they don't excel at everything but they do perfectly fine in about 80% of situations, and are the best at certain content
They're capable of being efficient soloers and also the backbone of any party, they farm zeny pretty damn well, and they're...kind of gear dependent but can make do with just moderate funding. If you can get Krasnayas from Drake, they're best in slot by a large margin and will shred anything when slotted with elemental/racial cards.

Blacksmiths (pre-trans) are this janky supportive DPS class that never really worked out, mammonite just isn't enough DPS for most situations and burns zeny too fast. They farm a few zones on mid to high rates well (moscovia) but you can also play them by just treating them like any other agi class - get to 95% flee and autoclick on mobs until dead.
Whitesmith goes harder into spending zeny to nuke shit, Cart Termination is the highest sustained DPS in the entire game (that isn't acid demo) but it eats zeny so god damn fast. It's still niche because it's a melee skill and WS is notoriously squishy. Also Whitesmith is absolutely unplayable in WoE because every fricking class counters him holy shit it is miserable.

Probably yeah. Farm orc ladies for cards, make a 4x OL 2h sword, then go frick high orcs. There's better options at 90+ but at that point it's a question of do you want to keep grinding or go farm more gear.

4x OL Pike is probably better since you oneshot HOs with pierce and an endow. You can probably reliably oneshot them with bowling bash regardless of katana or pike.
High Orcs are fricking boring though and if you can get gear there are better hunting zones. Demon Pungus is great for farming ygems and starsands, but you need very specific gear for it to work - a deviruchi card to resist blind, an evil druid to not get stone cursed, an ahlspiess to kill them...nothing TOO hard to farm but you need every piece of it or it doesn't work.

Well, as mentioned before is kind of hard to say since I dont really know what kind of server you are playing on, but knights are always a very safe bet, and I would say that for leveling and gearing up blacksmith is better than alchemist.

Whitesmiths get Cart Termination which is one of the highest DPS abilities in the game. Outpaces Asura and AD on some MVPs if you can avoid dying, but that's the hard part of playing BS/WS.
Blacksmith starts slow until you get to the point where you can one shot mobs with Mammonite that have good vendor drops. Once you're able to farm mobs with Mammonite while still generating positive zeny, you will absolutely fricking cruise through leveling.
Sniper on any rates above 5x with autoloot is the most braindead Black person class you can run. Even more so if the server has Orc Archer Bow enabled.
If pre-trans, hunter is a bit worse off, but it really depends on rates/episode/autoloot.
You can buff their offensive skills all you want but that doesn't make them more suitable for party play. They don't have an offensive niche and they aren't good at mobbing. If anything would help their contribution to parties it would be buffing their support skills.

The dev is adding an achievements system where you can get points by completing objectives. Once enough points have been gained globally, it'll unlock access to certain dungeons (meaning you won't have to do the quest to access them).
Some players complained about the choice of dungeons, and the dev changed which ones in response. One poster has been seething and crying and shitting his pants about this for hours straight, it's pretty hilarious.

the fastest way to get out of your song is to deequip your guitar by equipping a dagger
flashing is a a somewhat advanced technique where you hit a song, switch to your dagger to cancel it, switch to your guitar to play a different song, and cancel that too. effects linger for a while so the people you buffed get both for a few seconds. you can't do this forever, you'll run out of sp pretty quickly flashing. that's about it.
You switch to a different weapon to cancel the song (because you lost your instrument, duh) and switch back to play another song. This is how to flash songs quickly without delay. Normally you have to use a shitty skill to cancel the song.
Depending on the server you either have use a non-instrument (knife) to do this (official SHARTchanics) or you can cancel with a 2nd instrument (superior pserver GODchanics) which saves button presses as both instruments occupy the same hotkey
Stack int and dex, that's it.
Bard's important songs Scale off DEX and INT.
Start off by pumping the shit out of DEX, then start pumping the shit out of INT, then dump the remainder in AGI and/or VIT depending on how fast you want to shoot vs how much HP you want to have.

RagnaGanker will be Episode 13.2, which was the episode where Ash Vacuum / New World was first added with a few quests and limited areas. Renewal jobs didn't come until much later in 13.2. Most servers implement 13.2 as sort of the official "end-point" for Pre-renewal.
Episode 13.3 was El Dicastes, which added a bunch of broken gear and where Renewal jobs had already been in the game for a few months.

It's best not to plan around enchants and just hope for something universally useful like DEX or VIT
People don't really like them because they are bastardized versions, basically keknewal stuff added "early" which is why they have weird placeholder stats which are completely overtuned, like say 10.000 flat ATK (in renewal the mobs are completely normal with the right stats). On some servers all the mobs (normal mobs) even have fricking auras because they are above lvl 99, lmao.
And they do drop a lot of BiS gear, which is aggravated by the fact that they're easy to kill (they're just normal mobs at the end of the day even if they have meme stats), by comparison the pre-re BiS gear that is just one episode earlier would be much harder to acquire.
A good example of that is shields for Shield Boom. Episode 12 the best one is Cross Shield acquired from a powerful endgame mob that you can't really solo farm. Then New World adds Bradium Shield which is WAY stronger and is dropped by a dumb slow golem that does nothing (at quite the high chance).
Nydhog meanwhile drops the best garment in the game by far, and it's piss-easy to do.

I remember when blog posts started. The game looked so good, a true successor to RO.
To this day I'm not sure what happened. Was it dev moronation? Or publishers decided it needed to be more like the other MMO?
I'm not sure it even was like other asiatic MMOs, really. The problem wasn't the asiaticness necessarily, the game just had nothing to do. FPS lag made PvP pretty much impossible, eliminating that entirely as an endgame possibility. There were no bosses to compete for, there was no intricate crafting system. You just spammed quests to max level and that was it.
RO doesn't have a perfect endgame but WoE is a unique activity and if its actually fun to you it can make you keep playing forever, there's a reason its the lifeblood of most pservers
Then there's PVM which technically doesn't really have an endgame, however the "journey" is actually long and varied enough for it to be good entertainment for quite a while. For example, it's not just grinding levels, you're also collecting tons of gear from places that sometimes require very different classes, on top of that farming MVPs.. A giga tryhard with a 50 man guild might be done in a few weeks but for the average player there is usually something to do for a decently long time.
It is kind of crazy how ROgays never have any idea what they're talking about with ToS. Even on launch you had competitive world bosses and Earth tower as end game activities. People just got filtered, they would get their "Good enough" gear and quit.

ToS had some nice ideas, but I think the reason most people ever touched it was the graphics and artstyle.
If you subtract that, you get almost everything that people say killed RO in its sequels. It was a good try but ultimately the gaming industry and korean MMOs in general have changed and there is no going back. Nor is there a way to ever fund or create a new MMO that doesn't mirror the worst practices of korean MMOs, because that's what makes money. The devs and their publishers will always prefer money over a vision.

Yeah, #main is usually pretty friendly with helping newbies. It'll also have resets so you can fix your build if you frick it up.
Ragnarok is a great game, if you have never got into it and like medieval shit just make a Swordsman then Knight then rebirth then Lord Knight. They are fun and can use a lot of weapons.

Ragnarok is difficult to make because the sprites are so soulful and they are classic but tasteful re-imagining of mythical creatures that appear on RPGs. They didnt do it in a generic way.
Modern devs would be filtered by 2d sprites, soul is dead.

But it fricked up by trying to appease separate audiences (Grindcore vs Questcore vs Raidcore) and made the class system way too obnoxious.

Fist was a mistake. It needed a global 50% less damage to MvPs It's weird they hit bio but not champs.

AD is always good and doesn't really need supports to pump damage
Just make fist and acid demo actually reduced by armor defense. They can make the skills do 10-20% more raw damage but make it so hard defense is actually worth something against trans classes. Lord Knights would instantly become a viable class which would massively shake up the meta on mid-population servers.

What do I play if I have no idea what I'm doing and want to play something that solos well and is generically useful? I've never played a Knight before and was thinking of that, but I guess it'd be kind of gear dependent to start with on a new server with no economy. How do you even build Knights now? Is everything BB because of the removal of gutters?

Maybe Bard or Dancer if you want something slightly more party oriented that can still solo
Knights usually either go SVD for Bowling Bash or Pierce builds. You can also go AGI Knight if you want a lazy left click build but it won't be quite as good in parties as the others.
Can never go wrong with Hunter.
Yeah when I've played RO again previously I've always just gone Hunter or Wizard because they're stupidly strong with virtually no gear required. If I'm going to bother again I want to try something different. I think Knight, but maybe Alchemist. I guess Monk is a safe choice between different and braindead, you could easily sustain endless meme click farming as combo with an EPT buckler and once you get enough gear just reset into an optimized asura build for boss farming
Monk is a good choice for a mix of solo/party content if you can stand acolyte leveling and don't mind being a steel body b***h

LK is perfectly fine despite what people say, they don't excel at everything but they do perfectly fine in about 80% of situations, and are the best at certain content
They're capable of being efficient soloers and also the backbone of any party, they farm zeny pretty damn well, and they're...kind of gear dependent but can make do with just moderate funding. If you can get Krasnayas from Drake, they're best in slot by a large margin and will shred anything when slotted with elemental/racial cards.
Blacksmiths (pre-trans) are this janky supportive DPS class that never really worked out, mammonite just isn't enough DPS for most situations and burns zeny too fast. They farm a few zones on mid to high rates well (moscovia) but you can also play them by just treating them like any other agi class - get to 95% flee and autoclick on mobs until dead.
Whitesmith goes harder into spending zeny to nuke shit, Cart Termination is the highest sustained DPS in the entire game (that isn't acid demo) but it eats zeny so god damn fast. It's still niche because it's a melee skill and WS is notoriously squishy. Also Whitesmith is absolutely unplayable in WoE because every fricking class counters him holy shit it is miserable.
Sounds like I'll play a Knight then. Assuming you'd want to rush to 99 to get to trans stuff asap, is the fastest way to play a Knight to focus on building to optimally farm High Orcs with BB?

Probably yeah. Farm orc ladies for cards, make a 4x OL 2h sword, then go frick high orcs. There's better options at 90+ but at that point it's a question of do you want to keep grinding or go farm more gear.
4x OL Pike is probably better since you oneshot HOs with pierce and an endow. You can probably reliably oneshot them with bowling bash regardless of katana or pike.
High Orcs are fricking boring though and if you can get gear there are better hunting zones. Demon Pungus is great for farming ygems and starsands, but you need very specific gear for it to work - a deviruchi card to resist blind, an evil druid to not get stone cursed, an ahlspiess to kill them...nothing TOO hard to farm but you need every piece of it or it doesn't work.
No multiclient on ragnaGanker so endows will be slightly less attainable, at least the first week

Well, as mentioned before is kind of hard to say since I dont really know what kind of server you are playing on, but knights are always a very safe bet, and I would say that for leveling and gearing up blacksmith is better than alchemist.
I hadn't really thought about going Blacksmith, but I haven't done that either. Would be nice to have to level an overcharge merch alt I suppose. Blacksmith seems like it'd play pretty similar to Knight overall, you're just spending zenny to do damage and are a bit less tanky, right? I can't even remember what Whitesmiths get, but I think they did pretty crazy damage?
Whitesmiths get Cart Termination which is one of the highest DPS abilities in the game. Outpaces Asura and AD on some MVPs if you can avoid dying, but that's the hard part of playing BS/WS.
Blacksmith starts slow until you get to the point where you can one shot mobs with Mammonite that have good vendor drops. Once you're able to farm mobs with Mammonite while still generating positive zeny, you will absolutely fricking cruise through leveling.
Well, i have seen blacksmiths shit a lot of damage just with basic attacks but I play in a renewal server so my experience might not be useful.

Sniper on any rates above 5x with autoloot is the most braindead Black person class you can run. Even more so if the server has Orc Archer Bow enabled.
If pre-trans, hunter is a bit worse off, but it really depends on rates/episode/autoloot.

You can buff their offensive skills all you want but that doesn't make them more suitable for party play. They don't have an offensive niche and they aren't good at mobbing. If anything would help their contribution to parties it would be buffing their support skills.

Honestly this is all that would be necessary. I will never understand why so many server devs keep OT breaking weapons and then wonder why people don't party with smiths. OT is miles worse than bless/agi and is only even useful on physical classes, but no let's keep the effect that makes it a liability.
EQ on high end MVPs is fine because they have accordingly high drop rates on their endgame gear. Valk equips are god tier, and while Ifrit's drops are...mediocre, I think he's still deserving of being a challenge. Eventually gear and player skill progressed to a point where the challenge became not avoiding death, but being good enough to get back on your feet after a near party wipe, so EQ is fine.
EQ on Orc Lord is moronic because there is no way in hell you should need 10 people to hunt an MVP where the only good drop is bloody axe at 4%. Worse still is Baphomet, because of how gay it is to get people through the labyrinth all the meanwhile he just randomly TPs.
MVPs could be made harder by fixing fist's formula you lazy fricking homosexual devs just nerf it since it's ALWAYS too good and nothing will change that.

Probably not necessary at all since even 1 INT knights will regen ~2X-3X as fast as a knight with 12 INT would on vanilla.
It's (much) better, as even with 4x SP regen you won't have infinite sustain if you spam a skill constantly
In fact i think probably even a 24 int hunter/knight/whatever would run out of SP with endless DS/BB spam
But it definitely helps and makes sitting times very short
