I'm not sure why people are praising Prey so much in recent years. It was pretty mediocre at best and the campaign ended just as it felt it was getting started. The child deaths also held little purpose outside of edgy marketing.
I played SS2 twice and all the christine fan missions.
My first playthrough of prey was non stop cumming, the game starts when the operators first show up. Even the story is engaging, idk how it didnt impress you
t.Nightmare mode pure human and save everyone first playthrough
>tfw they rewrote the game when they added voice acting and they actually ADDED innuendo to the "look at you, hacker" log
did LGS know what they were doing?
I liked the ending. The fighting was over, you already crushed everything she had and made her moronic by destroying all the CPU cores. She had no more resistance. Think of it more as an interactive ending cutscene in a cool trippy cyber dream.
i'm kinda sad they cut out the line where she just scolds you like an angry girlfriend while you fight her >you fancy yourself a hero?!
Anyone else miss the enemy noises being loud robotic gibberish or animal screams? I sometimes just randomly run into enemies because they're not making that many sounds when before you'd know an enemy had respawned/was in the area since you just heard them.
Also, I hate the fall damage they implemented. Unless the original had it and I just never noticed.
OG didn't have any fall damage but you can negate it with the jets in the new one.

When i loaded into cyberspace and realize I had this cool gun in addition to my body I got really excited at the prospect of overcoming an insane horde of enemies and massive final boss. overcoming a bullet hell in a open arena with all the enhancements I've found in the game
then I tried to sprint and I was extremely disappointed. where the frick are my roller skates?
then I actually figured out what to do and it was so boring
In the original you shoot SHODAN's core in the 3DOF cyberspace and she dies
In the remake it's replaced with a one-off FPS cyberspace segment that plays like shit, is too long, and poorly communicates what your objective is. SHODAN's ethical protocols are restored

Just beat it. I was super hyped at first for the final cyber space section when I realized what was going on, but it kinda sucked ass. Shame too, the rest of the game was awesome, and I'm definitely gonna do a max difficulty playthrough.
>Beta Grove >biohazard warning >go in >show a bit of the map >go back to heal and recharge >repeat >more of the map is shown >be able to pinpoint the objective's location >get out >mfw during and after
FUN AS FRICK
>Spend like 30 minutes solving those three puzzle doors in a row >Immediate boss fight >Quick save didn't work >Game over after I die despite activating the respawn
Why game why?
I loved it but that final cyberspace level was painfully obvious that they just salvaged something together at the last minute with how half-assed and recycled everything is.
System REshock was the best game i played since 2012.
I waited for so long for a game with no stupid RPG elements in a setting i enjoyed.
I always sleeped on SS1 due to it being ultra dated visually, but this remake showed me that the gameplay from the first game just SHITS all over Shock2
This is the closest thing ill ever get to something similar to metroid prime.
Game slapped.
Now im waiting for someone to make a mod that adds the soundtrack from the original with dynamic changes.
>I always sleeped on SS1 due to it being ultra dated visually
It looks better than the remake according to what screenshots people have been posting. also did they frick up the OST too? As expected from a modern game.
SS2 > Bioshock = Bioshock 2 > SS1
ss2=Prey > SS1 >Dead space > Dead space 2 > Alien isolation > Biocuck 2 >Biocuck

Anon he means 2017 Prey.
Unless that game also had a lot of child deaths, I'm not sure cus I haven't played it.
I don't remember any child death in Prey
The 2006 game had lots of child death, which is what he's thinking of I think.

I want Shodan to peg me. It wouldn't be gay because she's a woman.
it's better and worse

if system shock remake is so good, why isn't there a sequel?
har har har
>ending is WORSE than the original
it's on par without how bad it is, imo.
The original is decent enough to be brief and actually lets you fail
true
i feel like that part was recycled from some early iteration of cyberspace they had

What changed? I haven't played the original SS in years.
it basically plays nothing like anything else in the game and you can't die. what you need to do is poorly conveyed too.
>you can't die.
what about if you were on 3/3/3/3?
doesn't change anything iirc

this. system shock fans are just blinded by nostalgia
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST SAY "NAH" BECAUSE...YOU CAN'T OKAY!

whats the point of abe's head in the original?
you need it for a retinal scanner too
whats behind the retinal scanner again? i cant open the maintenance office because security
i think the CPU nodes are there but it's been a long time
got in, needed to reduce security, only the enviro suit v2 in there
more doors are locked by shodan security in the original
CPU nodes, but you need to attempt to jettison to groves in executive before you can unlock maintenance doors.
>sorry boomers but system shock remake is an improvement over the original in every way
we know. but im not a boomer.
>Find easter egg
>No achievement
I miss when games did this.
dont you need all of them. Theres one on every floor
Damn and here I thought I completely explored the other floors already.
there is an achievement. you need all all, so every floor.
>up to executive
>haven't found a single one
What the hell
Flight deck actually.
I'm talking about myself IDIOT
I guess we're both dumb and blind. 🙁
most of them are impossible to get to unless you have the 2nd or 3rd jump boot mod
No, it's a different game, diversity hire "journalists" still hate them both though so the remake scores some points for that.
I'm a boomer who played the original and I agree.

Haha found the one in Storage.
Where is Repair Bay 3? I couldn't jettison the groves because something broke. Maintenance, I assume?
theres a big sign near one of the elevators in maintenance
Cheers, Anon

Nice. Can't wait for them to remake 2 so I can play that too!
